Property description

Owned by a German national, who has been living in Sri Lanka for over 30 years, this beautiful holiday bungalow nestles in the hills of a 10-acre plantation rich in rubber, tea and coconuts with rolling views of the beautiful Sri Lankan countryside.

The Bungalow at Pantiya Estate, Sri Lanka is a lavish planter's colonial residence. It was built in 1907 by a British planter. Majestically it nestles in the hills of Pantiya Estate, which is a producing rubber, coconut and tea plantation.

The building retains its old world charm. Its comfortable and spacious bedrooms, extensive gardens with a large swimming pool, magnificent views over rolling hills, interesting location near the south coast and the mild climate all combine to make The Bungalow at Pantiya Estate, Sri Lanka an inviting property for families or friends.

The Bungalow has 2 suites with high ceilings and British colonial features. The suites have a double bed and an attached bathroom. Each suite room can accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 kids or 3 adults purely due to their size and spaciousness.

The 3 guestrooms are overlooking the pool. They are comfortably furnished with twin or double beds and have ensuite bathrooms. A long verandah outside the guestrooms with lounge chairs is the perfect setting to read your favourite book or just relax by the pool.

All bathrooms have hot water showers, natural daylight, and ample space.

Living and Dining room
Inside The Bungalow, the living room is a haven with cosy sofas and antique furnishings from Sri Lanka and Germany. Likes of a deer antler chandelier and brass artifacts are not out of place in this tasteful space.

Dining Hall
With its grand solid oak 8 seater table and chairs, the dining hall is where our guests enjoy the scrumptious home cooked Eastern and Western cuisine.

Sri Lankan cuisine
Sri Lankan cuisine is one of the most complex cuisines of South Asia. Food in Sri Lanka is normally hot and spicy. Rice is consumed daily while spicy curries are favorite dishes for lunch and dinner.
Our Sri Lankan food is made on a traditional Sri Lankan kitchen which consists of a mud stove with a log fire using clay pots and wooden spoons!
See and try it for yourself while you are there!

There are many activities you can do during your stay at The Bungalow. These are within the premises of The Bungalow as well as outside.

In the premises
Nature Trail walks - Take a casual stroll around The Bungalow or for the more adventurous a hike through the rubber estates, crossing streams, climbing rocks overlooking breathtaking views.

Take part in the estate - we can organise for you to spend time with the tea pluckers as they identify the best leaves in the bush! OR with the rubber tappers who expertly carve the barks of rubber trees with special chiseled knives, and collect rubber milk in coconut shells!

Visit a rubber or tea factory - There is a functioning rubber and tea factory only 2 miles away from The Bungalow where you can see how tea is dried and packages or how rubber milk turns into elastic sheets! We can organise for a visit to these factory when you are staying with us!

Learn to cook Sri Lankan food - our chef in the bungalow will be thrilled to teach you how to make simple tasty Sri Lankan food, which you can then try at home to refresh your memories of your stay. From cutlets, lentil curry to hoppers... there's a favourite for everyone!
