The hostess, Debbie greeted us walmly on our arrival from the Honolulu airport. She had a lot to show us, and after the short drive over the mountain, we were impressed immediately with how special she treated us. She had fresh fruit, bagels, and tea for us. The small refrigerator in the front room had chilled tropical fruit juice that sure hit the spot during the breakfasts we shared outside at the patio table each morning. Everything she showed us was clean and inviting. The large bathroom with double sinks was stocked with many convenient amenities, not to mention the soft clean towels! The closet had a dresser in it for us to unpack our suitcases, and provided a place to stash our suitcases out of the way. It also had books, puzzles, games and DVD's. The soft bed was especially appreciated! With good airflow through the louvered windows in the front and back and side of the apartment, and the ceiling fans, we felt like we were always breathing fresh tropical air! A large flat-screen TV hung on the wall above the small drop-leaf table. We used it to catch up on news and some sporting events. If we had spent more time there we would have used its WI-fi enabled capabilities! Remote controls for the lights, TV, and ceiling fans were handy to have at the bedside! From Kaha Hale, we enjoyed our walks to Kailua Beach, just a few minutes away. We rode the provided bikes into town and to the nearby marsh several times. We drove southeast to Makapuu Point for a great hike, and to Hunuama Bay for a fun morning snorkel. We drove northwest to the North Shore of Oahu. On both drives we enjoyed many scenic stops and beach walks, spotting humpback whales and seabirds along the way. We would recommend Kaha Hale to our friends and relatives, and we hope to return someday for more enjoyment ourselves!

We loved our stay at Debies place. During our trip we have had higher end accommodation, but non was as cosy and welcoming als this studio. This came as complete surprise to us. Not only was the fridge stocked with beverages, cream cheese, and jams stocked for us, Debie had gotten us Bagels, Croissants, chocolate mac nuts and a large assortments of fruits as well. Prior to our stay we were asked what we would like to have, bit we were still astonished by the amount of food that waited for us. In addition Debie had baked awesome brownies for us, and we even got a bottle of red wine, as we arrived on our anniversary day. We were more than surprised about this hospitality. The bathroom, as others have described is marvellous: huge, clean, with double sinks and a wonderful double shower, where you will find different great shampoos, conditioners and shower gels for your use. We did not intend to cook apart from fixing breakfast, but despite the studio size everything is available for cooking as well. Even a gas grill. The bed is soooo comfortable, there are fans and even air condition (which we used not that often, as we preferred open windows and a cross breeze). Then place is quiet, parking is great (right in front of your door) and you hace a seperate entrance to the studio, as it is located not within but adjacent to the owner's home. Furthermore eco friendly with solar panels on the roof. The best part, wonderful Kailua beach, footsteps away (max 5 min walk). We loved that we were at the quiet, northern end of Kailua beach, which is great for boogie boarding (boogie boards, beach umbrellas, towels etc are also proved for the guests). Most times, apart from beach walkers with and without dogs, we were the only ones at the beach. We also enjoyed the shopping in Kailua town and the possibility to actually walk from one store to another instead of having to drive. Whole food market with their hotnand cold buffet any many other eating possibilities was a great recommendation from Debie. We went there several times. Overall a wonderful stay. If we had the chance, we would return immediately. Our only regret: that we were not able to say goodbye to our wonderful host as we had a return flight early in the morning.

This place is perfect. It exceeded all of our expectations. It is a wonderful quiet neighborhood that is "well kept". The studio was very clean and like new. Debbie and Dave are wonderful hosts and made us feel at home. It was well stocked with every thing we needed and supplied with delicious treats. I would recommend this rental and have already recommended this place to my family and friends.

We cannot thank Debbie enough for all of her hospitality! The room was immaculate and tranquil. For two people there was plenty of space to spread out in the closet and bathroom and there were plenty of toiletries, which was nice since we had run out of some things while on another island before we arrived. We loved using the netflix almost every night and enjoyed having breakfast outside with fresh coffee every morning. We enjoyed using the body boards and other beach supplies on Kailua beach, which is easily walk-able from the property. While we felt we had a good amount of privacy, we also really enjoyed talking with Debbi. She offered us supplies to help with our sunburns and had many good suggestions about things to do on Oahu, such as were to go horseback ridding and have a good meal on the north shore. Her passion fruit cupcakes were so delicious too! When we make it back to Hawaii someday we would love to stay here again!

The attached studio has all the amenities you want and more. Debbie stocked thr linen closet and the pantry like a home, so you don't even have to worry about fitting all the shampoos and soaps in the quart-sized bag. Debbie even provides coffee and bagel for breakfast. In addition, there are also all the toys : boogie boards, snorkels, bikes, beach mats, umbrella. You can also grill at the side yard, which is very private. One right turn and 5 minutes walk will place you right on the quiet end of Kailua beach, away from the beach park. But the best part about this rental are the host and hostess, Dave and Debbie. Their warmth and graciousness made us feel welcomed instantly. They gave us tips on what to do and see around the area that made our vacation truly fantastic. Thanks for the moonrise tip, Debbie! I will not hesitate to recommend this rental to anybody, and will certainly stay here again if we return to Oahu.

This place was even better than described. It was very clean, and well maintained and stocked with everything you could think of. The ammenties were fantastic; coolers, boogie boards, bikes, snorkel gear and much more. The best part was probably the bathroom. The double sink and double shower were awesome and were a real time saver. A nice added touch were the snacks and breakfast food that were waiting for us when we arrived. The location of the place was great, a short drive to anywhere we wanted to go and a short walk to Kailua Beach. Our only regret is that we didn't stay here longer.

Staying at Kale Hale was a perfect experience for my wife and I. The location is ideal, only a short walk from Kailua beach in a quiet neighborhood. And the studio and property are immaculate and have everything you could possibly need for a stay on the windward side from bikes, to beach and snorkel gear, towels and even sunscreen. Debbie even provided coffee and fresh fruit so we could enjoy a sunrise breakfast on the lanai. It is a perfect, amazing place. We had lived in Kailua for a time a few years ago and knew the area. But Debbie and her husband provide such a wealth of information on things to do, restaurants, farmer's markets, and Kailua's hidden gems that we discovered how little we knew about the area. I wish we had more time to explore all of their suggestions on things to do. We will definitely be going back to stay in Hale Kale.

This rental was very comfortable for us and a great home base for our 10 night stay. It had everything we needed, including all the beach gear we could want (mats, towels, coolers, umbrella, boogie boards, snorkel gear), nice bikes, great walk-in shower, streaming Netflix, and a well equipped kitchenette, all on a quiet street that was an easy walk to the beach. We didn't use the a/c much (appreciating the tropical warmth in winter!), but it was nice to have the few times we wanted it. And the gift basket with bagels, fresh fruit, and coffee was especially welcome after our arrival flight was delayed several hours. We felt very welcomed and relaxed when we were here, which certainly made it hard to leave. This was our second trip to Kailua, and we would definitely stay here again! Thanks Debbie and Dave!

I was a groomsman at my best friend's wedding, quit smoking, and proposed to my gf during my weeklong trip to Oahu. It was all made possible because of Debbie and this wonderful little slice of heaven. I chose this rental because it sounded great. The room looked clean in the pictures and the location was perfect. In reality, all my expectations were exceeded. Debbie and her husband are absolutely wonderful people. Debbie would go out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. We were even able to work during the day with the strong wifi signal. The room had so many little great amenities that made it an absolute joy when we came back from exploring the island. That sunset we saw on our first morning (literally 2 minute walk to the beach) was remarkable. The people of Kailua are absolutely warm and friendly. During this stay, I never felt like a tourist. I felt like I was at my second home. Like we were all family. No five star hotel has ever made me feel that way, regardless of the country. I stayed in Kailua because my best friend lived in Kailua and this rental was 2 blocks form his home. However, when I return to Oahu, I will stay nowhere else but with Debbie at this home away from home. Thank you Debbie. You will always be in our hearts. :)

The location was perfect; just a short walk to the beach, quick drive to downtown Kailua, and only about 20-30 minutes in to Honolulu. We did a lot of hiking/exploring and it was easy to get everywhere from this location. The property was very clean and well taken care with lots of perks that saved us time and money (like snorkel gear)! Most importantly though, the owner was fabulous!! I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a clean, quiet place to stay.

Great place to stay. Done the Waikiki thing a dozen times....the peaceful, relaxed nature of Kailua was a welcome change. (hidden secret....the best beach on the island). Quiet neighborhood, warm & friendly Debbie and Dave were most accommodating when the airlines delayed my arrival. They run an immaculate rental that was stocked with all the amenities you need and don't find in a hotel room....right down to chocolate covered macadamia nuts, bagels and my favorite pineapple-orange drink. (they even shared some automobile-finish rubbing compound with me so I could rub out the scrape of paint I put on the front bumper of my rental car before returning it). Nice big walk-in closet and wonderful bathroom. (suggestion...Debbie, post a picture of the large double sink vanity and fabulous double waterfall shower) All in all, a I had a really nice stay....I'll be back!

Our daughter lives in Hawaii, so we have made MANY trips there over the last 10 years or so. We were EXTREMELY impressed at the value and hospitality offered by Debbie and her husband with this rental. The actual rental was even better than described- queen size bed, A/C, off-street covered parking, large flat screen TV (w/Netflix), HUGE bathroom with a DUAL shower, lots of amenities (2 bicycles, beach equipment, etc.) and on and on. But the real kicker was what Debbie stocked the refrigerator with. Most rentals will have the usual candy bars, coffee, condiments, and whatever leftover unused food that a previous renter has left. Debbie actually called us and asked what we might like to have, and boy did she deliver in spades- fresh fruit, bagels with cream cheese, juices, snacks, etc. etc. Everything in the unit was spotless and worked perfectly. The only thing that was "missing" that would make this place somewhere that you could live permanently was the lack of a conventional oven - which you'd be hard pressed to find in ANY rental, and in any case a microwave and hot-plate are provided along with all relevant cooking utensils - and the lack of a "personal" washer/dryer. I use the word "personal" because Debbie offered the use of her washer and dryer if we needed it. We were only there for a week, and would have stayed longer if the rental was available. This is the place you want to stay, folks. Quiet neighborhood, one block from the beach, a very hospitable "landlord". When we return to Oahu this will be our first choice of where to stay. Trust me, if you're able to reserve this unit (and once the word gets out - they've only been open since July 2011- it will be booked well in advance), you won't be disappointed.

The studio is located in Kailua, very quiet area and house next to a wonderful beach. The studio is large enough for 2 persons, equipped with a queensize bed, a kitchenette, a two equipped bathroom (2 wonderful showers) and a big walk in closet. In the kitchenette you' ll find all cooking items you need, and you' ll find all what you need beginning from hairshampoo to dental silk in the bathroom too. It's more than a five star hotel. You have also bicycles, beach towels, boggie boards, beachs chairs and umbrella for your own use. You have books, maps and info folders from the suprrounding area and Oahu and you have a big Flat tv & DvDs and also some games. You have also a nice little BBQ area with table and 2 chairs for your own use. Everything is very clean, the cozy location is that what everyone is looking for vacation. The owner is a very very nice, wonderful and helpful lady. The beach is a short five minutes walk with a nice, quiet area. I do recommend this perfect studio to all my friends and family, it's the best private accommodation and the best host I have ever seen and I travel a lot!

Owner response: So happy to have this Austrian guest who told me that Europeans have high standards for living accommodations when traveling abroad. I welcome all Europeans to come and experience Kailua and enjoy the comforts of my studio!

This vacation rental was amazing! The owner was really nice, a complementary gift basket was provided, and it was very clean. The carpet was really soft, bed was really comfortable, very quiet and peaceful, awesome T.V. with Netflix and cable, and it was very easy to find. The description was accurate and I definitely plan to stay here again next time I visit! The owner was very nice and promptly answers any questions you have. They even have a binder that lists local beaches, activities, eateries, and shopping. I've been to Hawaii many times and I must say that the binder is spot on. Overall, it was a great find and I would most definitely recommend it for my friends and family who don't want to stay in Honolulu which tends to be bustling and noisy.

stayed 2 nights in Waikiki and 4 nights here. What a difference! Beach was uncrowded and very close. studio was very clean and bed very comfortable. Used A/C some but overhead fan was great at night. Kitchen had everything thing we needed and gift basket was more than expected. No sink in kitchen but double sink in bathromm and outside sink worked fine for dishes. Debbie is a fantastic host and very accommondating. Neighborhood was quiet and street not busy so in and out was easy. covered parking came in handy as it poured rain our last night coming back from dinner. There is lots of beach equipment and we used the BBQ for steaks. I do recommend this studio.

My husband and I stayed in this studio for 4 nights in August, 2011. The owner was very welcoming. She has thought of every detail to make your stay here very comfortable. She gave us a large basket of fruit and chocolate covered macadamia nuts. She even compiled a detailed notebook about local restaurants, beaches, hikes, and more. The studio is spacious and as nice or nicer than the photos. Everything is new, super clean and very tastefully decorated. The deluxe bathroom is lovely with a large double shower with endless hot water and stocked with several types of shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, plush towels, and beach towels. The air conditioner works very well and is super quiet. Or you can use the overhead fans--there is even one in the bathroom. There is a large walkin closet with a dresser, plenty of space to hang your clothes, an iron and ironing board, books about Oahu, games to play, a huge flat screen TV with cable and high def channels, wireless internet access, quality utensils, pans, rice cooker, and dishes if you want to cook simple meals. There is a nice barbecue to use. You can use their coolers, the bikes, boogie boards, and beach chairs. You get your own covered parking space in the carport. It is super quiet and peaceful, and just a short walk to the beach. And Kailua is a short 20 minute max drive to Honolulu and an easy drive to the north shore. Kailua is a beautiful area and this studio is an excellent place to stay to access all it offers.

This place is much larger than the average hotel room. Free parking. 30 minutes from the airport. Walking distance to the one of the best beaches in the world. Kailua has plenty of restaurants and shopping. I would stay here again if I came back to Oahu. E.K.
