Relax in a renewed, authentic "Sears Craftsman" home that was built by my uncles and grandfather. This home sits on the original plot of farmland that was farmed by my grandfather and now is farmed by my husband. The home has a well equipped kitchen, office with a desk, bookcase and wifi, comfortable living and dining areas plus two bedrooms and one bath. Bedroom and bath linens are included. The home has a fenced back yard that would be suitable for a dog. There is a separate garage and a lovely front porch where you can enjoy country views.
The home is centrally located within easy driving distance to the many interesting sights to see and activities to enjoy in and around the Imperial Valley. You can birdwatch, visit Anza Borrego State Park, the mud pots, the Sonny Bono wildlife area, hike in the nearby Laguna mountains, go bike riding, golfing, fishing and hunting. Yuma, Arizona and the Colorado River are close by along with Algodones and Mexicali, Mexico. San Diego and the Palm Desert area are within a 2 hours drive. There is a wide assortment of fun activities held throughout the year such as Cattle Call Rodeo, Imperial County Mid Winter Fair, bird festival, Mariachi festival, Holtville Carrot Festival and farm tours.
This site would be ideal for a professional involved in the varied aspects of the valley's agricultural industry. Also ideal for winter visitors, bird enthusiasts and anyone visiting the Imperial Valley.

I have to tell you that we LOVE the place-it is very much like my grandparents farm-except we had dairy cows- your design skills are fantastic. You may have to pry me out of here! :) We have stayed in homes around the world and this is by far my favorite! Thanks for loaning us your home Emily. The farm brought back lots of memories. You have created a magical and very well decorated retreat. We will definitely remember the farmhouse if we are working in the area or just for a retreat.Did you find this review helpful? This is a lovely house. The furnishings are perfect, the bed was very comfortable. Our dog, Meli, really seemed to enjoy all the smells outside. We made several long drives with this house as our base. We were able to see much of the desert and mountains. It was wonderful to be able to come back "home" after a long day out. To any other visitors: I particularly liked visiting the quaint town of Julian- make sure to have pie!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We have enjoyed our stay at your lovely farmhouse over the last 2 1/2 weeks. The peace and tranquility, the sitting on the porch, the soaking up the winter sun have all been unforgettable experiences. Scruffy was more at home than the rest of us, as upon arrival, she was hanging around the garden area jumping up and down like a veritable "tigger"! We will recommend your home to friends who may wish to stay in your area.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you for sharing this beautiful guest home. We enjoyed the clear night and beautiful stars. We slept peacefully and enjoyed a quiet morning cup of coffee. Your home is fantastic and we can't wait to return. P.S. There is a subtle sense of beauty and excellence that you have fused into the home. It resonates in those who have the opportunity to witness it.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is an absolutely marvelous farmhouse, located very much in the country. There you can see the fields being seeded, cultivated, and irrigated. You watch the vegetables grow and the sheep pasture, witness to the changes in a landscape that stretches for miles in all directions. While you are very much on the land, you nonetheless are not isolated or in the boonies. The farmhouse is not far from shops in Calexico, and is just a fifteen minute drive to the El Centro Mall. We breakfasted on the porch watching breathtaking sunrises, dined as the sun set behind the western mountains, and took long strolls in the moonlight. The farmhouse is fully equipped and marvelously decorated: all you need to bring is yourself. We rented it for three months and enjoyed every second of our time there. Our only complaint is that this wonderful house was not for sale!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1939
About the owner: My sister and I inherited our grandparents home and farm in 2009. We restored the home after 30 years of neglect. I am a science teacher who loves nature, hiking, cooking and traveling (like to travel with husband and Maggie-Aussie). My husband and I live near the rental and have a large yard with an orchard, garden and chickens. My sister is a school nurse and she also enjoys cooking, hiking and traveling.
Why the Owner Chose El Centro:
A lot of love and care went into restoring our grandparents home and would like to have others share in the serenity of this beautiful little farmhouse.
