Athens farmhouse description
This quaint farmhouse rests on top of a hill, surrounded by 400 acres of farmland with commanding views of the Berkshire mountains, and yet is only a 10 minute drive from the Hudson Amtrak Station. Built in the 1840s, the house has been tastefully renovated and outfitted with modern appliances to provide a distinctive and relaxing country experience. One of only three houses on a dead-end road, peace and privacy define this particular farmhouse experience. Guests are often artists and/or small families seeking to escape NYC either be car (2.5 hours) or via Amtrak (2 hours). Located 20 minutes outside of the Catskill mountain range, skiers, hikers, roadbikers, birdwatchers and Hudson River enthusiasts are also frequent visitors. The high efficiency wood-stove makes the fall and winter visitation periods downright romantic, as does the bearclaw bathtub designed for two. Unique recycled slate shower and exposed 1850s rafters throughout the house cast an elegant interior finish. Many restaurant/shopping/antiquing options are located in Hudson and Catskill, while the town of Athens now boasts its own delicious brewery, not to mention Riverfront park.

Perfect Weekend Retreat
Perfect Weekend Retreat
I am an actor from New York City, and my theater company was seeking a space outside of NYC where we could develop some of our work. This beautiful farmhouse less than 3 hours north of the city offered the perfect retreat. The home is spacious and comfortable. The interior is artfully furnished with artisanal home decor. The outside space was perfect for an easy hike into the woods and a picnic in the shade on the front lawn. We slept like babies, cooked like crazy, feasted like kings, and filled the open spaces with rehearsals. In the retreat of this farmhouse, my company was able to work unlike we ever can in the confines of an NYC rehearsal studio. And it is well worth mentioning that outside of rehearsal time, the home offers the perfect country escape to anyone looking for a weekend getaway. We will definitely return to this this Farmhouse tucked away in the Hudson Valley and give it our highest recommendation!

We had a delightful, although short stay this summer. The farmhouse is tastefully renovated and the open feel to the living room and kitchen made my mind relax. We had a great time and can't wait to come back in the fall or winter. There were fresh flowers when we arrived and the owners were very helpful with directions to a local brewery, swimming hole and local markets.

Great Hudson Getaway
Great Hudson Getaway
Really charming house which was totally secluded and yet just a few mins from Hudson. Owners were a pleasure to deal with and home was filled with warm touches, ei fresh wild flowers in every room and a well stocked kitchen. Was a much nicer then we expected from the liting and we look forward to staying again soon.
