  This place has it all, location,luxury, and owners who care about your stay. You're 50 feet from the ocean, in the penthouse, with a great snorkel beach right outside your balcony. The property was perfectly cleaned upon arrival, the beds and bathrooms were first rate, washer/dryer in unit, even a closet of beach stuff (boogie boards,cooler,chairs etc.) that you won't have to rent or buy. The kitchen was fully equipped if having meals in is in your plans. The online booking process is easy, and the owners are 'hands on' to ensure a premium experience for your vacation. We are experienced (and fussy) travelers who know a good thing when we see it, this is it.

  We loved the place. We watched angel fish right below us, had amazing views of whales, dolphins and sea turtles, and the sunsets were absolutely incredible. The condo itself was very comfortable, clean & well outfitted.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

  Everything was ready for us when we arrived, and the condo and everything in it were clean and in good condition. The owner was very helpful in giving us all the information we would need. You can't beat this location, just steps from the lovely rocky shore. We loved the constant sound of the waves. A nice little beach is right around the corner with good snorkeling. A wonderful spot.

  We have rented from John and Janis before and it is a toss up between the Penthouse and 119 Kuhio Shores but we all voted for 119. We loved the ease of having a ground floor unit and felt like we were on the beach the entire stay. The condo has every thing you could ask for, numerous beach items, a well equipped kitchen and a awesome view .It is updated, clean and well maintained. We did not find noise or privacy an issue being on the ground floor. We loved the advantage of walking out the slider every morning and watching the turtles feed, the grass area for the kids to play and watching the sunset every evening from our unit. We loved walking a few steps next door to the best snorkeling on the island. Baby Beach is just a block away which the kids enjoyed. The new shopping center is within wallking distance and has some great restuarants. We have stayed in other condos in Kuhio Shores but John and Janis have the best units! Working with them is a joy also. The only place to stay in Kauai is at Kuhio Shores 119 and the Penthouse!

  You can't get closer to the ocean than this! The view from the living room and kitchen is stunning, and only a handful of steps takes you out to the ocean. We loved watching the sea turtles AND the surfers ride the waves! We went down on the rocks every morning while the tide was out to search for sea life. The condo was cozy and clean if smaller than I expected. The bedrooms were cool at night even without a/c. The showers were very nice and the water pressure good (a pet peeve of mine). The mini washer and dryer were great for drying wet bathing suits. Condo was in a good, easy-to-reach location that was a short drive from everywhere. Beautifully decorated and had everything we needed from dishes to beach chairs to boogie boards. Of course, being on the ground floor has its drawbacks. There was very little privacy. Since the condo is right next door to a restaurant and a snorkeling area, people were constantly passing by the windows and the patio. Would stay here again.

  We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The condo was well furnished with everything we needed for a comfortable and very pleasant vacation. The views, especially the sunsets, were absolutely gorgeous; and the ocean breezes and sounds of the ocean waves were wonderful. We highly recommend this property!

  Arriving on the wonderful island of Kauai is plenty, but then driving through Old Koloa and arriving at Kuhio Shores is an extra-special treat. We stayed in #119 which is a lovely 2-bedroom corner unit. Windows provide views of the ocean from every angle and the clever addition of wall mirrors makes you feel as if the ocean is inside with you, too. It's amazing. Relax on your patio and watch the surfers for hours on end (I never tired of it) doing their dances on the waves. It is quite a show! You will see the most spectacular sunsets right from your backyard and you will never see more stars in the sky than here. It's other-wordly. Turtles like to hang out in the surf, too. The condo has everything you need for a wonderful stay and is located is a great spot close to shopping and restaurants (The Beach House restaurant is steps away!) but also close to wonderful little roads that lead to cool, private beaches. I should mention that if you want a really private location, this may not be the place for you as there can be quite a bit of foot traffic outside your condo at times - especially because you really are right on the water and directly in front of a very big surfing spot. But you will probably find (as we did) that it really doesn't matter because it is such a cool place to be. Booking this place through Janis and John was a breeze. They were so delightful; kind and helpful - truly top of the line. I would do it again in a heartbeat. So go ahead, DO IT! Book it now! Aloha!

  My family of 6 are yearly Hawaii visitors. We have stayed all over the islands, and have stayed in Kuhio Shores many times. The Penthouse (unit 418) is the best spot in all of Hawaii, quite possibly in all the world! It really is! The proximity to the crashing surf is unbeatable. The sounds of surf lull you to sleep at night. The spectacular sunset is seen right from the living room, as is the bay. The locals surf right in front the lanai. Sit and be entertained for free! Then go to the beach right next to the unit for swimming and fantastic snorkeling. We stayed in a different unit in Kuhio Shores one time (when both 119 and 418 were unavailable) and there is just no comparison, because the bedrooms were dark and quiet, and you can't see the bay or the sunset, the view is just straight back, instead of all around you. Every time we come,we are amazed at the pristine condition of the unit. It seems better every time, and that's really saying something. The owners are constantly improving, maintaining, and upgrading, with spectacular results. This is no typical "rental", it is luxuriously detailed and upgraded throughout. The unit is also very well equipped with everything you need in the kitchen, as well as towels, beach chairs (*nice* ones), snorkel gear, etc. Unit 119 is equally spectacular, and the first-floor entry is convenient, but we personally prefer #418 for the view. Needless to say, we will be staying again!

  I loved being able to watch the surfers any time of day, watching the turtles wash up right on our beach when the tide comes in, watching the sunset every evening, great snorkelling just steps from this condo and having the choice of sand or grass to relax on right out our door. The rooms are spacious, clean, all necessary ammenities are provided
