I loved being able to watch the surfers any time of day, watching the turtles wash up right on our beach when the tide comes in, watching the sunset every evening, great snorkelling just steps from this condo and having the choice of sand or grass to relax on right out our door. The rooms are spacious, clean, all necessary ammenities are provided

Our stay was everything and more than we were expecting. Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer. We will be sure to book way in advance next time and there will be a next time! This Rental Deserves Wayyyy More Than 5 Stars!!!

When contemplating where to spend Christmas with our family, only one place came to mind. The Penthouse at Kuhio Shores! This is our second stay in this beautiful condo and I can assure that it won't be our last. We have stayed in 3 other condos on property and this is by far the best..., HANDS DOWN. The owners, John and Janis, go above and beyond to accommodate their guests, even having installed a personal washer and dryer for convenience. The cross breeze throughout the unit is amazing and the peaceful sound of the waves can be heard from both bedrooms, rocking you to sleep each night. And being able to watch whales and turtles each day and the incredible sunsets each night right from the lanai...welllll...can it get any better than that??? We can't wait to return for our third stay in The Penthouse! I'm already planning!!!

I consider myself a professional when it comes to Kauai. I have stayed nearly everywhere on the island and can't say there is somewhere I prefer than Kuhio Shores beach front. The views, breeze and accomodations are perfect and I enjoy myself beyond expectation every time I stay here. Thanks to John and Janis for the considerations and for the fully equipped unit. I was able to cook a full Thankgiving dinner with everything they provided in the kitchen. We had the best birthday weekend ever.

The owners were quite informative and responsive to all of our emails; making it a pleasure to plan our trip. This condo was just like it was pictured! The views were wonderful. Everything was in great working condition. Every morning we could watch the turtles swim, saw a pod of dolphins and a group of spotted rays. My sons snorkeled at least three times a day because it was so conveniently located to a perfect snorkeling area. The kitchen was equipped with everything we could have needed to make some great meals. Every night the waves lulled us to sleep. It's conveniently located to lots of shopping, attractions, restaurants and groceries. We would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a comfortable high quality condo in a terrific area. We're trying to figure out when we can go again to this marvelous condo.

Wonderful Condo at Kuhio Shores

My family and I stayed here in August and loved both the condo and the location. We really could hear the surf and it was so nice to sit out back and read or watch the surfers from the lanai. The first floor location was great for us though we could hear some parking lot conversations at night and ended up closing the windows on that side. The condo is clean and well-kept, well-decorated, and simply a pleasure to spend time in. We appreciated having a fully-equipped kitchen and ceiling fans throughout. I highly recommend John and Janis and their condos. J&J were easy to work with and their place was great!

John and Janis, Just wanted to thank you for sharing your wonderful vacation home with us. The entire family had such a great time. We have stayed at Kuhio Shores a number of times both in one bedroom and two bedroom units but yours by far is the nicest we have stayed in and will be our number one choice from now on! Not only were the views fabulous but the layout of the condo perfect for our family. I don't think there was anything else we could have asked for. The beds were so comfortable, the kitchens had great cookware, dishes and even a crockpot. There was so much beach gear there.... sand toys for the kids, snorkeling gear, boogie boards, chairs, coolers and a beach umbrella. The added fans came in handy and I think we ate most meals on your nice lanai table. It was paradise, the only downside was that we had to come home. We already miss going to sleep and waking up to the waves, views and most mornings we even had rainbows. Thanks again for sharing your place and being so easy to work with making reservations! John, I just wanted to tell you that we had a WONDERFUL time in your Kuhio Shores #119 condo! It was perfect for us and the scenery was breathtakingly beautiful! So convenient to everything we needed. I truly don't think there could be a better location on the island. We ate at the Beach House two or three times just because the food was so good and it was so convenient to just stroll over there in the evenings. We saw sea turtles, dolphins, monk seals, and even a whale and her calf. (rare for this time of year). We accidentally broke a wine glass, and we weren't sure how to replace that but we did leave you with a new soft pack cooler to add to your collection, hope that helps even it out a bit. We have already been discussing how long it will take us to get back to Kauai and we don't even want to think about staying anywhere else, only #119 for us!!! Thanks again, Jennifer S. (Oklahoma)

ALOHA, WE ARE HOME! We had a wonderful time in Kauai. The condo was perfect for our needs. Great location for seeing the south shore, good access to the beach and restaurants and very comfortable for 2 couples. We loved the view and all of the little extra things we found to drag down to the beach (towels, snorkel gear, chairs). I hope you were happy with the way we left it. We never did make it to the pool, because of our busy schedule. We spent our evenings, before going off to dinner, on the lanai watching the incredible sunsets and surf pounding against the rocks. Ate at Casablanca, Benneckie's, Merriman's (at a nearby mall) and The Beach House. Saw Waimea Canyon (lots of fog, but oh well), did the Kayak Wailua adventure we drove out to some REMOTE beach in Polihale State Park. The beach was incredible and there was no rain there! Glad our son was driving! We spent our last 2 nights at the St. Regis in Princeville! WOW! George Cloony and his film crew were also staying there, but sadly, he was so busy he couldn't spend any quality time with us. HA All in all, it was a great adventure to share with our oldest son and our daughter in law (soon to make us grandparents for the FIRST TIME in September). Mahalo! Sandy and Pat

Nov 2, 2008 Stayed at Poipu Shores 106A for eight nights. Great place to relax. The sound of the surf is amazing. When a wave hits just right, it literally sounds like cannon fire. It is just an easy five-minute walk to Brennecke beach, which has perfect waves for boogie boarding, and just a couple more minutes beyond is Poipu beach. The kitchen is really nice with relatively new appliances. The living area and bedrooms are very comfortable. Before we left, I was a bit worried about a potential bug problem with the unit being on the ground floor, but that really turned out to be a non-issue. Very clean and well-appointed! Sue and Kevin

John, I would have nothing but super positive things to say about your place! You really do have the best one(s) of the building. Would love to go back some day! And, thanks for suggesting the ground unit, it was a lot of fun down there. People always commented about our "seats" for the sunset! I tried to rent out a couple of the sunset seats, but no takers!! LOL I did mention (pointed it out) to Thomas (?) about the master bath second tile in from the front shower wall of the slider…it would leak under the chrome header to a puddle on the floor…first soaking the rug, but we moved the rug back. I suggested clear silicone, and I'm sure that is all it would take. And, it may be time to toss some of those snorkel masks. I tried a couple, they both leaked, no straps etc….no big deal. I was tempted to call you and see if you wanted me to go through some of that stuff and toss some of it. My brother, who is a diver, brought three sets he had. I bought a simple set and left it for you and your guests…did use some fins you had though…. had a lot of fun. Funny thing, when we were doing our thing to exit….my brother went out to the garbage and somebody dumped a few snorkel sets in the garbage!! Some other people saw them and fished them out. There were fins and everything! What knuckleheads to dump that stuff! We did go peek at your "shores" site too, you got some nice properties. Testimonial, by all means. We did talk how that 119 is probably the best location on the island, seriously….. Mahalo again, John Chris

Thanks for the deposit return...Your condo was great and everything you said it was....we left it in the same condition as it was when we arrived...the little flashlite on the front door was very helpful when we arrived late on our first night.....the new BBQs were very much appreciated and popular everynight.....the kitchen knives could be replaced....other than that..Perfect. Thanks for the great place to stay for our vacation! We had a great time, and took fine care of your pad. We replaced a couple of beach mats for you, and left some food items for the cleaning person or your next guest. It seemed so wasteful to throw it all away. I hope that was the right thing to do. Anyway, thank you again for the great deal and killer condo. We had a fabulous and restful week (except for the 10-mile hike above the Na Pali Coast that about killed me!) Hi John and Janis. Your condo is really great and very well kept, we enjoyed it immensely! Thanks for the champagne, what a nice touch... It was very hot when we were there and we used every single fan...REALLY appreciated those:) Our group had 10-15 of the condos and we loved it. We were able to video the entire ceremony of our daughter's wedding at the Beach House lawn from you condo. It was actually pretty funny....the bridal party watched from 418 to see when everyone sat down for the ceremony so we knew when to go over, and no one was there because they were all at 119 on the lawn. We called down from the balcony to go over and sit so we could start the ceremony! The reception was at Joe's On The Green, and they were outstanding. We loved Kauai, the turtles and you condo. What memories...Thank you! I will try to get something posted on tripadvisor, it's my #1 resource. Mahalo. Cathy

We spent a week at Poipu Shores #106A and loved it. We only saw dolphins once but spent the week staring at the turtles and the ocean crashing on the lava rock. The Condo overlooked the pool and Poipu Beach. Even though Poipu is considered crowded, the location of this condo was away from traffic but still close to the beaches. The back road/driveway to the beach made beach access easy. The waves crashing on the lava rock outside the condo was definitely loud but I loved the sound and slept peacefully through it. However the clerk said they actually had a guest complain about the ocean noise! There was plenty of room for the six of us. The condo was up to date and very clean. I'd recommend it for anyone but small children. The pool is small but the waves crashing over the railing into the pool made up for that.

Good Morning John and Janis I just wanted to let you know we had an AMAZING time in Kauai and your condo was beautiful! We made the best choice with choosing to stay on Kauia and staying at your condo. We are already talking about when to go back, definitely want to stay there again. We loved going to sleep at night listening to the waves crashing and waking up every morning, having breakfast on the lanai and watching the turtles and whales - there were so many!!! The weather could not have been more perfect and we spend every day at either the pool, a beach or both! We went sight-seeing all around the island and took a sunset cruise to the Napali Coast where we also saw whales, turtles, dolphins, rainbows and a beautiful sunset.
