Accommodating in every way!
Accommodating in every way!
This house is a true treasure, a spotless, spacious house in San Roque perfect for my sister's and my family (4 adults, 2 grown children, 2 teenagers) to share when we were in Santa Barbara for a large family event. The house offers just the right balance of private space and common areas,a large open kitchen to cook in, and an outdoor patio where we ate every night. The central location made the house ideal as a gathering place for other family members who had come from out of town. Hendrie's Beach is less than a 10-minute drive, and Loreto Plaza, with Gelson's market, Renaud's (Santa Barbara's best French bakery) and Chaucer's (one of the country's great independent bookstores), is a short walk as is Mackenzie Park, where our kids spent a happy afternoon playing Frisbee. Kurt was an excellent host, responsive to e-mails from our first contact, taking a call during the workday when we couldn't locate a key kitchen tool, and even mailing back items one family member had left behind. We come to Santa Barbara often to visit my father and would happily stay here again.

A beautiful home!
A beautiful home!
I'm a tough critic - I don't give 5 stars unless it's deserved. But as we walked in to this house for the first time, my kids said "wow!" - and that about sums it up. Two couples and four teenage/young adult children stayed in this home. The description and pictures don't really do the house justice. Location - in a lovely quiet neighborhood, but just a few blocks from a major street with groceries, coffee shops, pharmacy, restaurants. Upstairs - 3 bedrooms, 2 baths. The master is palatial with a nice balcony and a huge Jacuzzi tub in the ensuite, plus a walk in closet. Another very large beautiful bedroom has a day bed which would sleep a child or short adult. The third bedroom is cute and cozy, with the bunkbeds and the neat loft up top - my niece loved it. Downstaris - two more spacious beautiful bedrooms and a half bath with shower. The beds were very comfortable and there were tons of pillows. The kitchen was exceedingly well equipped - there was nothing we lacked. The comfortable family room with the cozy chairs and the ceiling fan was where we sat to relax. The yard felt very private and the BBQ worked well. We ate meals out there every day because it was so pleasant. Before we arrived, Kurt was very prompt in replying to emails and helpful in terms of suggestions for the area. We could have reached him easily while we were there by phone, text or email, but we didn't need to because everything was just right. Our damage deposit was returned promptly. Santa Barbara is charming. The weather was the same every day - beautiful. The beaches are clean. We enjoyed the botanical gardens, a guided tour of the Mission, the Maritime Museum, shopping on State Street, lots of fun restaurants....it was one of the nicest vacations we've had. If I'm back in the area there is no question I would stay in this home again.
