Charming Creek Side Cottage Close to Whitman and Wine Tasting
- Minimum stay:2 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This charming cottage is well off of the street, next to a year round creek. In the spring it is frequented by ducklings and their family's. Large mature trees grace the neighborhood, keeping the area cool and green. The yard surrounding the cottage enjoys plenty of sun for sitting outside by the stream. The cottage sits behind a house with quiet full time renters. Parking is on the street, if you bring your car. Downtown and Whitman campus are so close, you won't want to use your car, bring a bike, or walk the lovely streets. Inside the cottage is bright and sunny, with a fully stocked kitchen for cooking the fresh produce you bring home from the farmers market.

We stayed three nights at this lovely cottage near Whitman College. The cottage itself was very clean, well appointed, and comfortable. Loving to cook, we especially appreciated the well-stocked kitchen; you have everything you need to cook a wonderful meal. The outside gardens are private, beautiful, and peaceful. We spent a lot of time at the table by the burbling creek, eating our meals, reading, relaxing. We walked downtown and had dinner at Saffron, a must if you enjoy creative, delicious fare. Be sure to make a reservation in advance, though. If you are considering booking this cottage, just go ahead. You will not be disappointed. We can't wait to go back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We wanted to see what it was like in Walla Walla in the spring time and shop for real estate. This property is perfect: quiet, within easy walking distance to the center of town, and Whitman College. We like to eat in as well as out. The kitchen is well equipped. We enjoyed eating supper outside by the creek.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

The cottage was nice and it served us well due to the proximity to family we were visiting. For how much we paid I would have expected the kitchen to have been better equipped, the water pressure to not have been lousy, and the wi-fi to have been up during our stay. I don't feel I got nearly full value of what we paid.Recommended for: Age 55+.
Owner response: Our cottage is our personnel vacation spot, where we come to relax and rejuvenate. We love to cook, bake and "put up" preserves from the local farmers. The kitchen has everything we need, but everyone has different needs and it may not have that favorite kitchen tool you need. We are always open to suggestions about what is needed in the cottage. We also have made great improvements to the circa 1930's cottage, one of them being a completely new domestic water line to the cottage this March. The water pressure is very good, but we will take a look at the shower head to see if we can improve your showering experience. Unfortunately, unless we are contacted by a guest, we have no way of knowing that the wifi is not working. Resetting the modem is the simplest first step, but we are prepared to resolve these kinds of issues immediately, if they inconvenience your stay.

I have stayed at several Walla Walla vacation rentals and this is my favorite. I stayed at this home during the week before Christmas (total of 7-8 days). This is an excellent value, with a final cost of just over XX (not disclosed) a day for an extended stay (tax, cleaning etc). This is a freestanding home located in the backyard of a larger home, with a small creek running through the side of the property. It was very quiet and peaceful and is located in a good neighborhood, close to the college. The home has a large kitchen and living area and a large bedroom. The home also has a full sized washer and dryer. Bathroom was full sized with a shower/tub. This property is perfect for a single person or couple who want someplace to relax and possibly entertain some friends (I had dinner for daughter and son inlaw one night and it was very nice, plenty of room). Bed, couch and easy chair were all very comfortable. Kitchen was adequately stocked. Home was very clean. Owner was easy to reach and very pleasant and responsive. Cons: 1.) Home only has internet TV, so no live TV; however, it does have Netflix and Amazon prime for free movies and also has network news clips. 2.) Home is located the backyard and might be hard for someone in a wheel chair or other mobility issues. Pros: 1.) Home has internet TV so it has access to netflix! 2.) excellent internet connection. 3.) very peaceful and private. 4.) Full sized kitchen, bathroom and bedroom 5.) washer and dryer 6.) nice neighborhood, good place to go for a walk, walk to college, etc. 7.) very responsive homeowner. I give this 5 stars, easily (no debate about 4 or 5). Would highly recommend this both for budget and non-budget travelers (its simply an awesome deal!).Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This little cottage was exactly as we pictured it from the photos and other great reviews. We picked the cottage because of its location to downtown and we’re not disappointed. It’s about six blocks to the core of downtown and only four blocks from our favorite breakfast spot, Bacon and Eggs. Our car was never needed which was perfect for our wine tasting weekend. The neighborhood the house is in is adorable and seemed very safe for our strolls. The owner was very helpful and quick to respond in the one instance that we needed her help. If we make it back to Walla Walla we will definitely stay at the cottage again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: I'm so happy you enjoyed your stay. I will be there myself this next week and plan on a repeat your "perfect retreat"; wine tasting and breakfast at Bacon and Eggs!

We enjoyed our stay at the Creek Side Cottage. The location is excellent and the accommodations were comfortable. My only request is that there be a hair dryer. A hair dryer is standard with any place I have stayed at - be it a hotel, timeshare, or VRBO location. It was disappointing to not have one and have to leave the place with wet hair.Owner response: We are so sorry you had to leave with wet hair. We do (or did) have a hairdryer located in the closet-laundry room, on the shelf above closet rod, in original box. Unfortunately the lack of cabinets in the bathroom has us store extra linens, and other bathroom items in this multi-use room. We'll be sure to make a small label for the bathroom, sharing the location of the hairdryer, or move it to a more obvious location.

Roomy, quiet, lovely landscaping, great location, comfy bed... but the place was dirty. We're used to living in a 110 yr. old house,so are not clean freaks. Surfaces in the kitchen (counters, sink, table, refrig. handle, garbage can lid) had food crumbs and sticky stuff. I boiled water and a small flame shot out from something stuck under the burner. The bathroom looked like it'd missed cleaning for awhile also...a used bar of soap with hair stuck in it! Made us wonder about having to pay the additional cost for insurance. After a big dusting and wash down and maybe an updated sofa, I could recommend it.Recommended for: Sightseeing.
Owner response: We are extremely apologetic about this unfortunate experience. It is apparent to us, from the review, that the cottage did not get cleaned prior to this guests arrival. We are investigating the circumstances and are taking steps to insure that the Cottage is sparkling clean for our future guests.

The creek side cottage was excellent. Had all the things we could want in the kitchen and a great BBQ area outside. It was hot, 100 F, but was still nice cool and shaded along the creek and the outside picnic area. The air conditioning cooled the place well. Overall a great stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

About the owner: Retirement seems to be so close! Just have to get those kids through college and then we can play!
Why the Owner Chose Walla Walla:
Our daughter chose to attend Whitman College, and we're glad she did! While visiting her in WW we found this property and loved it. The property consists of 2 houses, with the 'Cottage' in the back of the property. Initially we rented the Cottage to Whitman visiting professors, but we decided it was perfect for our vacations. And yours too!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
I like walking around our neighborhood; to the ballpark on summer evening for a ball game; to the bakery in the morning for fresh bread, or the Farmers Market for veggies. A bike ride up Mill Creek is a must do, if you have your bike along on your stay. Soak your feet in the cool creek on a hot day. And a Theater performance seems always to be in production. So much to do and so little time.
