Ledroit Park was established a quiet, tree shaded enclave of Victorian mansions and stately town homes. It is designated historic district with wrote-iron lamp posts, brick sidewalks, granite curbs, and small manicured lawns. Old Elm Street, now T St., was the main street and runs 4 blocks from the entrace gates near the Metro stop to Cooper Circle, where the house is located. The house was in a good location and convenient for our family to gather. The amenities were okay - the cable did give us problems the entire time we were there - but overall we had a good stay.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children.

This was a great house with everything you would need from home. The owner was very helpful and it was a great home base to see all the Washington DC attractions. There is a bus route right on the street that will take you to the main areas of interest. If you want to ride the rail it is about a 1/2 mile walk but it is a walk through a cool neighborhood. Overall a great experience.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for the kind words. It is a very friendly neighborhood! Thank you for notifying me as soon as you noticed the leak. The plumber was able to identify the source quickly and fixed it.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay....merchants, restaurants, etc., in neighborhood went out of their way to be helpful. One grocery store owner even lent us a coffee grinder for our visit when we bought her coffee beans. Owner is having a bit of trouble with a leak in upstairs bathroom but was quickly accommodating in his repair efforts. The facility was helpfully appointed and comfortable for nine of us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had 3 couples stay in this wonderful house. The kitchen is awesome! Fully stocked with about everything you could need. Only a few blocks to the metro. The cable would freeze up quite a bit, especially in the evening but we weren't there enought to worry about it. We drove a Suburban & was able to park in the provided space behind the house. Took a little maneuvering but it would fit. Might help if the gate opened all the way & the old posts were taken down. Thanks so much for sharing this great house!Did you find this review helpful? We loved staying in this wonderful home for the week we were in DC. The kitchen was incredible. All the beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of space for our group. I loved the set up of the main floor, and am currently trying to figure out how to remodel my kitchen to be more like this one. The Neighborhood was perfect for a DC visit. We took the metro everywhere, and the location was easy to access. There was still lots of walking involved, but we had excellent weather so it was very enjoyable. It felt quaint yet updated, and we felt privileged to be able to stay here. Thank you so much for sharing this home with us!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful stay in the house! There were 6 of us so it was ideal and we entertained additional people for meals. The kitchen/dining room were perfect for eating at home with everything you need to cook great meals! Austin was easy to work with and communicated in a timely manner. The back bedroom was fine for our family but probably not ideal if there are 3 couples wanting to stay there. Ideal location for heading downtown, metro is a short walk and we were able to get taxis easily. A large grocery store is about a mile away which is something to consider if you don't have a car. I would definitely recommend this house!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.

I booked this house last minute and Austin was really easy to work with. The house is fantastic, with two bedrooms (both with twin beds) that have their own bathrooms. There's a third bedroom just off the master bedroom, so you have to walk through the master bedroom to get to it. The house was well equipped and extremely clean. The neighborhood is up and coming, with little cafes and restaurants dotted around and its close to many public transport options. A large supermarket is a taxi/bus ride away, but it seems that's the case for most people who live in DC. It was a great experience. I'll be recommending it to friends.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Our extended family of five adults and three four kids had a wonderful stay here. The house has every convenience imaginable. The house was even nicer than the photos suggested. The kitchen was very well appointed- so much so that we cooked many meals at home and saved a lot of money but not eating every meal out. The owner communicated everything we needed to know very clearly and responded promptly to an issue we had (we blew the fuse in the kitchen by running too many appliances at once). We had a vehicle and didn't have any problem finding parking on the street in front of the house. There is a bus stop very near the house but we never used it. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone who doesn't mind having to drive to all main DC attractions on the mall.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind remarks and for taking such good care of the house during your stay. I would like to clarify that the Metro subway is just a short walk away and the National Mall is just 3 stops away, so it is a great location for those without cars as well. In fact, most of my guests do not bring a car!

Overall, a nice experience. The listing was accurate. Location - 10 minute walk to the subway and just a few stops from downtown and the major sites. Neighborhood mainly quiet and street parking not too big of a problem (we needed it b/c our minivan could not fit in the private parking space - cost $75/week from the District of Columbia - taken care of by owner - just let him know ahead of time). Did hear a little noise at night (barking dogs from neighbor). Apartment - clean, mainly well maintained. Awesome and well-equipped European style kitchen. Stylish upstairs master bathroom (shower only, no bath) and older secondary bathroom. One bedroom requires going through another bedroom (not a problem for us). Front door has combination lock so no key required - you can self-check-in if you receive the code from the owner. Customer service - overall pretty good, though not perfect. The good: Austin (the owner) took the trash to the curb on Monday (the day after our arrival, with the trash from the previous rental). He got us a parking permit and reminded me to move my car for street cleaning. Was fairly well responsive via text messaging. Check-in / check-out procedures were easy. Less good: Parking permit did not wait for me when I checked in on Sunday as we agreed prior to my arrival, but Austin did put it on my car windshield early Monday morning, before it would have been necessary. Also, when the automatic spark generator on the gas stove stopped working, Austin quickly provided a workaround which was fine (just use an external lighter). However, he did not investigate the problem in a timely fashion (we found out the next day that also the toaster oven next to it was not working, so I suspected a circuit breaker issue - a minor inconvenience - which could probably have easily been fixed). Overall, I would recommend this place to others and would consider this place in the future if we do another DC vacation.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
