We had a friend visiting us from US and needed to do a last moment reservation somewhere close to San Jose. We stayed at Punta Leona at the beach front apartment before and enjoyed the experience. However that apartment was not available and we decided to rent this house. We knew that it will not be a sea view, but were hoping it will be a nice stay in the forest for 2 adults and 3 kids. The owner was very nice and prompt to respond, reservation and arrival was all well organized. However the experience with the house itself was quiet below our expectations. Small bedrooms with lots of beds packed into each room. All furniture, appliances and equipment felt old. It iwas quiet hot in the house, because the airconditioning was only installed in the small bedrooms - was barely enough. Rest of the house only had ceiling fans to just steer the hot air. Nothing was broken, but all was feeling very used. There were ants everywhere in the kitchen, not enough plates and cutlery for our family, not to say about even basic complimentary things you normally find in the beach rentals in Costa Rica - salt, oil... Rails to dry the cloths were rusty, etc. The experience was definitely not worth the money we were paying, when compared to other rentals we did in Punta Leona. Fortunately the owner was very kind and agreeable person, so we left the very next day and got the money back for the days we did not use. For us this property is comparable to a 2* hotel experience. This house is probably OK for a big group (can sleep up to 10) on a tight budget. However if you are looking for a nice experience - we do not recommend it.Did you find this review helpful? About the owner: Anabelle and me buying tikets to Manhattan. I am a Engineer and Anabelle a School Teacher. We live in San Jose, Costa Rica. Anabelle likes to travel and I like to swim. We own a house at the beach and two lofts at San Jose were you can stay.
Why the Owner Chose Punta Leona:
It is the nearest white sand beach from San Jose, the capital. It´s also surrounded by tropical rain forest.

Its inside the Resort Punta Leona that has many pools, 2 white sand beaches and lots of atractions. The place is very safe and relaxed. Family, adventure, oriented.
