The Hideaway was very clean and had everything we needed for a nice relaxing stay. The location was perfect being just 100 yards from the beach. There are tons of restaurants and shops within a short walking distance and rollerblading and biking on the beach is right there as well. Joel represented the rental perfectly and there were no surprises when we got there. We would definitely rent this again in the future, or any other property he owned.

My family and I unlocked the door, walked in, and instantly felt at home. It was super clean and had everything one might need. Joel was very helpful, responsive and welcoming. Every moment was peaceful and relaxing. We left our beach stuff and wetsuits out on the patio all day with no worries whatsoever. Whether walking up to our favorite coffee shop, the Olive Cafe, walking back along the boardwalk and watching dolphins, cooking out on the beach, or chatting with our neighbors - we really felt like we were part of this great little neighborhood. No hotel could have ever given us this. We can't wait to come back.

This was my families first time staying at a beach house and we will never stay anywhere else! It was the best vacation for all of us! This house was in a perfect location, so close to the beach and the fun! Thanks to Joel and Patti for making this happen for our family!! We have already started the plans for next year to come back!!
Owner response:Dear Chicago, Thanks for the great comments. We have a place we love to share in a good location. All you have to do as you found out is come with a good attitude and have a great experience. Joel and Patti

This place is adorable. Joel was wonderful to work with and very accomodating. This house has all you need. We even had an incident where we locked ourselves out, and Joel sent someone right over to help us. Not something I'd recommend, but we laughed until we cried and will laugh about this for years to come. And be sure to check out all the photos on the walls. Joel took them himself. I do have to say, PARKING IS TIGHT. But they tell you that before renting. Thankfully, you are able to park your car and walk EVERYWHERE if you'd like to. Perfect location to walk to Belmont Park and even to PB if you want to get some exercise.
Owner response:Girls, Thanks for having a great time without getting out of control... lol. It is a perfect weekend for families, couples and even the girls. Please just no lock out next time. True the parking is tight but that's the nature of the beach. Joel and Patti

House was beautiful! Very clean, well equipped kitchen. So close to the water! Rooftop view was incredible, especially for the sunset. Very nice owner. Highly recommended.
Owner response:Brianna, Glad you had a great visit. You're so right about the roof at sunset. I enjoy it so much I like to share that with guests when they arrive. Joel and Patti

My family and I stayed at the Jersey Court Hideaway last week and I am happy to share that it was such a wonderful place to stay! This was just the kind of place we were looking for to relax and enjoy some time at the beach with our kids! Upon arrival we were impressed with the large courtyard area with a BBQ and a nice table with umbrella. The living space was nicely decorated and felt very comfortable. It was great to have a full kitchen with a dishwasher and plenty of space to sit for eating. The beds were comfy with down blankets and comforters and having two bathrooms was a plus. The best part was the short walk down the sidewalk to the beach and there were beach chairs, boogie boards and sand toys provided nicely kept on the side of the house. This vacation rental was the perfect place for us to stay with our kids and enjoy every second weather it was relaxing in the "Hideaway", exploring at Belmont Park, walking to the bay or playing in the waves at the beach! The owners were wonderful to work with and very friendly. We will reccomend this rental to friends and family and look foreword to coming for another stay!
Owner response:Dougg, glad you and your family had a good time. Anyone that wants a beach experience without the expense of a hotel bill should check us out. We will do our best to make your experience great. We do want our renters to keep coming back. Joel and Patti

This was my families first experience renting a condo on the beach and our first experience using VRBO.com so we did not know what to expect. We were offered a great deal and when we got to the condo we were extremely pleased. Not only were we literally steps away from the sand without the heavy prices of beach front property it was a quiet and tranquil location. The pictures that you find on the site are exactly what you get there are no surprises and we enjoyed our stay very much. This was a great place we comfortably fit 5 adults and 2 children. The condo was clean and everything we needed was right there. It is true that the parking is a tight fit but you can always find parking down the street if necessary. Everything is within close proximity and a walk or bike ride away. Also everything needed to cook was available to us and the patio is an excellent amenity, it is a good size for a beach location and we were able to bar-b-que for dinners. Instructions that were given were clear and our deposit was promptly given. My family and I are very impressed with this place especially with the value you get for being so close to the beach. It is beautiful and coming and going to the sand was no problem. I would definitely recommend this to a friend and have done so. Within walking distance is the roller coaster and Mission Bay for the kids. We were able to spend our days kayaking, taking the kids out to eat ice cream and then the adults were able to have a drinks in the evening without worrying about how we would get there. Within biking distance was Pacific Beach and that was only about a 15 minute ride. I would definitely recommend waking up early at least one morning and having breakfast at the Wave House. Perfect view! I have and will continue to recommend this place to friends and family!
Owner response:Dear Newbie, Glad you had a great time. The Hideaway is a special place for us so we try to make the experience just as good for our guests. Thanks, Joel and Patti

I rented this property for a weekend away with my husband, son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren (4 & 7). It was a great buy. We were one block away from the ocean beach which was awesome! The property is clean and well maintained. I had read the reviews before we went and I remembered one group complaining about not having room to all sit together and this is true but there is a large bar with seating for as many as 6 if you wish and a table with chairs for three. Probably our biggest challenge was seating around the TV but there is a couch and a recliner and the rest of us sat at the bar or on the floor, for the price we paid for the rental that was acceptable. Beds are queens and mattresses are okay. We spent the majority of our time at Sea World and the beach. The owners were very nice and tried to help us enjoy our stay. Warning though--the parking space is very narrow! We had a minivan and had plenty of length to park but had to unload everything first and pick the smallest adult to park it and he had to be very careful to not scrape and do contortions to get out of the car when parked. Guess we should have gone down to the parking lot at the coaster park but were too lazy to walk the four or five blocks back. The rental is attractively decorated and having a full size kitchen really helped us save money on the trip. We did have excellent pizza at Luigi's just a couple blocks away and great sushi at a Japanese restaurant just down the street east of the coaster park. My granddaughter cried when we were leaving--she wanted to live there! If we get a chance to go back I would consider renting this property or another one from this landlord.
Owner response:Hi Newbie, Glad you had a good time at the Hideaway. True, you can't get an oversize vehicle into the spot without work, but as lots are generally small at the beach parking is a premium. Thanks for mentioning the sushi, I'll mention it to my daughter. We've had plenty of good meals at Luigi's. Do your granddaughter a favor and come back to the Hideaway. Joel and Patti

Not as represented. This might sleep eight, but there is no room in the living room or dining area for 8 people. There is only one bath with a shower. The kitchen table seats 3 comfortably. The patio would be nice but it is very dirty. and extremely noisy. It is right by Mission Blvd. The pictures look alot more modern than the place is. Clean it is, but it is also musty. We were going to stay here, but they were dredging the beach outfront the entire 5 days. Stinky and flies everywhere. Certainly the owner was aware of this, but offered no compensation. It was cold, so we would have had to spend time in the unit and it certainly was not cozy. The owner was extremely curt with us when we explained all the reasons we would have to find another property. We lost all our money with him and paid another $1,200 to stay elsewhere. Don't buy that this is a quiet court, that there's room for eight, or that it is modern. Pay more and enjoy your stay at wonderful Mission beach.
Owner response:The renter called and stated that they did not like the unit, it was too close to Mission Blvd and there was a problem with flies. We'd stayed at our other unit on Jersey Ct. the day before which is closer to the beach and there was not a problem. They talked to someone in the alley cleaning their trash can that said it had be "worse than normal". Based on that comment they said we were not properly disclosing info, which was not true. They said the patio where they were waiting was dirty. It was not dirty, it had a lot of leaves on it from the shade tree which shadows the patio which is one of the nice features of the patio. Without allowing us to do anything to make their stay palatable they demanded all their money back. We stated the policy but said we would try to rerent it and give them the fee. We were unable to rent it and they got mad and said that if we didn't give them money they would do anything to blacklist us. We take pride in our customer service but will not let someone bully or blackmail us when we've done nothing wrong. We've had this property for five years and treat it like a second home which our renters appreciate. Before giving them any credibility please read the other reviews or better yet, come stay at the Hideaway.

We have stayed at The Hideaway on multiple occasions, and enjoyed each and every stay thoroughly. The property is very well maintained, the beds are comfortable, the kitchen has all the equipment you will need, and the location just can't be beat! We particularly enjoy being so close to Belmont Park. There are a variety of shops, a beautiful park, and many restaurants within easy walking distance. We found it easiest to unload, go to the grocery store (Ralphs is not too far away) for what we would cook at the house, and then walk or ride the bus for the rest of our stay. Our only warning, and the only reason I can't give 5 stars, is that you may need to bring an extra dose of tollerance for the neighbors behavior. This is not something the owners can control, but something you should know in advance. It's not uncommon for parties at neighboring properties to go on well into the wee hours, and the language we heard is not appropriate for youngsters. There are local noise control ordinances and we could have called the police, but we chose to be tollerant (we were young once too). Just be aware.

A relaxing week during the World Cup of soccer with our family. Plenty of room for all, and close to everything you would want to do. Beaches, bay, bars, restaurants and Sea World. We only used our car once all week! The parents, children and grandparents had a chance to reconnect at your wonderful beach house, thanks a million!

We stayed here in April 2010. It was a perfect, comfortable place to stay at. It was very well maintained, clean, and extremely close to the beach! It is a very rare condo because it has two baths/two bedrooms, most two bedrooms only have one bath. The bedroom in the back with the two queens is large, we fit two pack in plays in that bedroom and still had plenty of room. We did a lot of research when we were looking for a condo to rent and found this one to be priced extremely well and worth every penny! We highly recommend this condo and plan to stay here again in the very near future.
Owner response:Glad you had a great time at The Hideaway. We're excited for the coming spring and summer season. As soon as it clears a little we're doing some minor sprucing up so you'll have another great vacation in Mission Beach. Thanks for staying with us. Joel and Patti

Joel and Patty, Thank you for letting us stay at your cozy hideaway on the beach! We had such a relaxing time, and got to spend days of quality family time together. The location is absolutely perfect being so close to the beach, and just a short walk away from the rollercoaster park. We went there on tuesday night, which is Family Night, and all the tickets were only $1. This is a great spot for anyone visiting with children! The decor was our favorite, reminding us of our days living in Hawaii. What a thoughtful idea to put two big beds in the back room. My two boys ages 3 and 7, each had their own bed picked out, but in the end shared one as usual! My 7 year old son asked if we could live there forever! We couldn't believe how well stocked the kitchen was, and what thought was put into it, such as the popcorn popper and large bowl for the kids, and wine glasses for a romantic evening for mom and dad! All we needed to bring were our favorite foods, and you had everything from coffee and vegetable oil down to the salt and pepper shakers! I had brought all of my own of this, and will know next time we don't need to! Thank you for your thoughtfulness and warmth in your home away from home.

Great beach house, very clean. Very close to the beach. We rented bikes for the week, and biked down the boardwalk to Starbucks in the mornings. We had a great trip, did Sea World, and even went to a Diamondbacks/Padres game. The house was fine for our family of 5, and had everything that we needed. Thanks.

Wow, my husband gave me one of the greatest gifts by wisking me off to the Jersey Court Hideaway. The perfect place to be cozy, comfortable, romantic, fun and on the beach. The facilities are clean, aloha style and convenient. We really enjoyed being there, feeling right at home from the moment of arrival. There is plenty to do in the vacinity or choosing to do nothing is just as fulfilling. Our favorites were sunglass shopping, bloody mary testing, walking on the beach, riding the rollercoster and napping. We will definitely be back! Thank you for being the home base for a most memorable anniversary!!!

We had a lovely stay at the Jersey Court condo. It was perfect for us, our 3 year old son and my parents that came for a visit from Germany. We enjoyed being so close to the beach, only minutes from Sea World and it is nice to be able to have a homecooked meal. We enjoyed our breakfasts on the lovely patio and appreciated the box filled with 'beach toys'.

We had a wonderful time! The vacation home was all that we expected. The beds are comfortable and the pillows soft. We loved being able to fix our own meals in the well equipped kitchen. The storage shed outside is equipment with everything you need to have fun on the beach. We loved being only 1 minute for the beach. We enjoyed early morning walks and playing in the surf. The neighbors are quite and nice. We hope to be able to return soon to make more wonderful family memories.

Welcome to Jersey Court Hideaway. Just steps away from the sand and ocean and just a short walk to the bay makes this a perfect place to stay. Patti and I are recent new owners of the Hideaway and this is truly our second home. We stay here when it is not rented. Although the previous owners did a nice job of fixing it up we've put our personal touch to the condo which should help make your stay memorable. Whether you want the beach, sun on the patio or the quiet of the condo it's all there. Please let us know what we can do to enrich your vacation with us for your future return trips. Joel and Patti
