Built in 1838, Oak Grove has been restored with particular attention to historic integrity. It boasts original pine floors, mantles, doors, and moulding. The house has 6 bedrooms and sleeps 13 people. Two bedrooms with full beds and one bedroom with three single beds on the top floor have a separate entrance and share a game room, bathroom, and porch. The main floor consists of a gourmet kitchen with Viking appliances and soapstone countertops, a den, a dining room, and living room furnished with antiques and oriental rugs. The large back porch off the kitchen is a great gathering spot to relax with friends, as is the front porch overlooking the lake. On the lower level are three bedrooms (one queen, one with 2 twins, and one with a full), two bathrooms, and a laundry.
The surrounding woods are filled with trails to run or walk on, and the spring fed lake offers great fishing, canoeing, or just a beautiful view. Well-behaved pets allowed with prior permission and a refundable $300 pet deposit. The drive into Oxford takes 10-15 minutes, depending on your destination, and it is almost entirely on a four-lane highway. Oak Grove's proximity to Oxford makes it easily accessible to the lectures, music, theater, shopping, and restaurants of a charming college town, but it's bucolic setting makes it an ideal retreat from the crowds, especially on an event weekend. Staying here at the county's oldest home is to experience a piece of Southern history.

AWESOME house. Twelve of us stayed for a football week-end and all of us had a great time. The house was exactly as described in the listing. It is secluded and very peaceful. The owner was very helpful and easy to work with. The house was very clean and well-maintained. I highly recommend the Antebellum home. The square in downtown Oxford is a "must" to see. If ever in the Oxford area again, we will certainly stay in this lovely home.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Rates
Nightly rate: $1000; Weekly rate: $4500; Long-term renters considered. $500 refundable deposit required to reserve property. Deposit returned two weeks after checkout if no damages are incurred during stay. Rent is due in full 30 days before check-in and is non-refundable, even in case of cancellation.
