  First - the house was fine. Very clean, hot tub very enjoyable on a cold night. No issues at all with the house. However, I feel the owner needs to disclose in the listing that you MUST have a 4WD or chains to rent this place in the winter if it snows. The road getting to the house is not county maintained and very steep. Two of our vehicles couldn't even make it up the hill, The third vehicle (a honda pilot) had to be pulled out of ditch ($60 later...) on Sunday. Trying to go down the hill was impossible. Just walking down the hill was an adventure. The guys who plows the driveway and the one who does the road both say the owners need to tell renters about the hill. There is a sign on a tree at the bottom of the hill saying CHAINS OR 4WD IS REQUIRED WHEN SNOW COVERED. I wouldn't be complaining if this had been disclosed in the discussions with the owner. If you are renting in the spring, summer, or fall, this place is great. Renting in the winter - be prepared to have a 4WD vehicle because you never know when it will snow in Garret county. If you have the right vehicle, then rent this place and have a great time.

  Owner response: Deep Creek is a mountainous region that frequently has snow during the winter months - that is why people vacation in the area during this time - to enjoy skiing, snow boarding, sledding, skating, etc. Our cabin, like all cabins in the area, is located in the mountains and we believe is no more difficult to get to than others in the region. And, we do have someone that plows regularly when needed as all developments in Deep Creek are privately maintained -- NOT county maintained. Unfortunately for these renters the snow conditions were especially heavy and they (like all other guests in the area that weekend) had a difficult time getting out of town. To assist these guests with their concerns as to the extreme conditions, we did try our best to help them, including offering them a free night given their concerns about driving in the snowy weather conditions.

  Wonderful place! Clean, comfortable, and relaxing. This is a roomy place and the hot tub and pool table are an added bonus. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a great place to kick back relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Pictures and description are very accurate. May want to bring paper and cleaning products (paper towels, napkins, TP, dish and hand soap, dishwasher detergent).

  This house was perfect for a couples weekend getaway. We had 3 couples and the space fitted us perfectly with 3 bedrooms and 3 full baths. There was plenty of room to spread out yet be together. The home was very clean and comfortable with a Morning Glory view! The location was great! Easy drive to Deep Creek State Park and to Oakland for the fall festival. We had such a fantastic time that on Saturday night we were already planning our trip back next year. The place was wonderful but did I tell you about the owners? They were VERY easy to work with and EXTREMELY accomodating to our requests that we made prior to our stay. We appreciate them opening their home to us!

  We had a wonderful time staying at this well-appointed cabin. This was a mini-vacation for us before our oldest daughter leaves for college. The cabin was very spacious and clean. It was so nice to show up and have the beds already made up. They were very comfortable, too. Great view of the lake and close to restaurants and State Parks. We loved the hot tub! The kitchen had everything we needed. The owner was very easy to work with. We would definitely recommend this place and look forward to going back.

  Average accomodations. Lacks items more common to most other rentals llike grills and wifi. Had issue with owner on agreed to rental days after arrival. Would not rent again.

  Owner response: As promised, this renter delivered a review that does not properly reflect our rental performance after he became angry when we were unable to extend his stay until July 19 despite numerous, clear, written correspondence, even from the renter himself, that identified the rental period as July 12 thru July 18. While we wish we could have accommodated this request for an extension, we could not do so as it would have negatively impacted another reservation that was already in place. Finally, although I am unaware of any reservation practice that would require a July 19 check out for a booking specified as being from July 12 thru July 18, we are working hard to make sure this does not happen again.

  Plenty of room for an infant and his pack-n-play, etc; 6 adults; and pets! Hot tub perfect for cool late spring nights. Fire ring in back yard for roasting marshmallows brought back memories of scout camping trips. If your fitness routine involves walking/running, you will appreciate the challenge of the hills. Wonderful view of lake. Unless you're a mountain biker, you'll want to leave your bikes on rooftop rack and drive to a local spot to ride your two wheels. Some people go on vacation with no desire to cook. Not us! We love to cook, especially when we're not rushed. If you plan to cook while staying at this house, you may want to bring your favorite piece of cookware, as most of the pots and pans really should be replaced. The doors on the refrigerator and freezer compartment have no shelves, which reduces storage capacity significantly. We purchased ice cube trays and left them for the next guests. If your kids plan to watch DVDs, plan on bringing your own DVD player. For these reasons, I had to rate this cabin four rather than five stars.

  The accomadations were wonderful. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! Nice view of the lake. We enjoyed the hot tub and playing pool. It was nice to be able to bring our pets along too. It was a relaxing vacation which we needed.

  This cabin was perfect! Even better than advertised! It's beautiful, comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed. The owners were very helpful and available had we needed them. All this and it's just a short drive from everything we wanted to do! My kids' favorite part was the huge game room downstairs. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone! In fact, we plan on coming back soon...

  Rented the cabin for a short family reunion. The cabin was great and the layout allowed us to spend time visiting but each family to have their own privacy. The cabin had everything we needed and the location was great. Close to everything but still far away enough to be quiet and peaceful. We would definitely recommend it and plan on returning again
