This house was better than we had imagined. Very clean, light, roomy and value priced. The waves could be heard at night, just five houses from the sand. Smores were a hit in the patio fireplace; a GREAT place to lounge, day or night. We had no need to go elsewhere, other than Good Friday and Easter Morning Services....the BEACH and this unique home and patio more than satisfied all of us, from age 1 to 74; VERY comfortable and accommodating! You can walk to Dukes and the quaint Ventura Harbor is a quick drive...we like the Fish and Chips, but this trip we preferred the LARGE kitchen table; comfortable for 10 of us, with ample plates, glasses and cups. Also supplied were ample towels, and paper products, among other things. We made ourselves at home in this nicely appointed "Villa". We all want to return.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We rented this house to renew our vows on the beach. When they say steps to the sand they mean it! We were able to do the ceremony right there on the sand and then a small reception at the house. We had around 20 people show up, the house was never crowded and had plenty of seating. They really need to give more pictures of this house, it is a stunner! The master bathroom is a thing of art. We absolutely loved this house from end to end. The upstairs bedrooms are huge and super comfortable. The thing I wish we knew before we left is.. the house is stocked. Like everything you need or could possibly want stocked. We will be going back for sure and have referred many people to this property! And the owner was great.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family have just enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving here. It was great to be so close to the beach - every morning my husband loved walking on the sand, studying all the birds and even spotting a whale and, on our last morning, a pod of porpoises. The house was clean and well-maintained. The upstairs was particularly light and airy - the downstairs was a little darker. The outside fireplace was a bonus, especially when the weather was clear but a little chilly. Ventura is very well positioned - we explored all the surrounding areas with trips to Santa Barbara (great shopping), Ojai (excellent farmers'market every Sunday morning), Los Alamos (try the Union Hotel which appears unchanged from 1880), Malibu (the Getty Villa) and Los Angeles (a fantastic concert by the LA Philharmonic at the amazing Walt Disney Concert Hall designed by Frank Gehry).Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

My husband and I convened here with two other couples, including a 15 month old. The accommodations fit our needs perfectly -- good communal space for meals and visiting, both inside and outside, with privacy and quiet when in our respective bedrooms. The three upstairs bedrooms are the roomiest, especially the huge master with en suite bathroom. The downstairs bedroom, though small, is handy for those who can't do stairs, and it has it's own bathroom. The kitchen prep area and cabinet storage is somewhat limited, but we made do. There are some easily correctable omissions: more glassware, a blender and hangers, but the owner freely shared handy items like condiments and spices and has provided nice pots and pans and knives. The linen supply, including beach towels, was generous. The only real drawback was that the exceptionally hard water left a film on all the dishes and glassware -- a small point in an overall great stay.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We have stayed in many vacation rentals over the past several years, and this one is, bar none, the very best. The description of the place is quite accurate, and the location was perfect for our needs. Because of a college graduation followed a week later by the wedding of our daughter, we needed a place like this for its spaciousness to accommodate several sleepers and three dinner parties, each involving more than 16 guests among family and friends (counting all the grandkids): the kitchen and (cozy) patio facilities (gas range and barbecue) were superb and the table space abundant, so that we never felt crowded. The kids had plenty to do, with the beach just a few doors down the street, and we were always within easy and pleasant walking distance (about six blocks) of grocery and restaurant and fuel accommodations. The property was not only clean and inviting to start with, but intermittently well-maintained during our 12-day stay. The owner provided clear instructions, in writing, on the use of the house's facilities, with useful pointers that might otherwise have been lost on us (it's a big house!). We were more than happy with the accommodations, which made our sometimes hectic schedule much easier to manage. We recommend the place very highly, and without hesitation!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The house is more beautiful and well appointed than the pictures depicted. All the rooms were clean and comfy and the extra bathroom accessible from the outside was helpful after the beach, or when sitting outside by the fire in the evening. Clearly this home is well loved and it is evident in the amenities all around. It could not have worked out better for our Dad's 80th birthday party. There was plenty of room for the caterer to setup outside and plenty of room for the guests to sit inside on the long table. Thanks Colin for being so accomodating and responsive. We will definitely recommend this wonderful beach house to anyone looking for a getaway in Ventura.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This home was beyond my wildest imagination. There is so much room yet it doesn't feel too big. We went with 4 people and we all had our own bedroom and bathroom and shower, it was so nice to be spread out and have your own space when you needed it! You can hear the waves from the house and the backyard. The inside feels like a home. I felt so relaxed and happy. I counted the steps to the sand, it took me 70 from the house to reach the sand! The location is perfect. Everything you think you might need is in the house. We ended each night with a quick walk to the beach for sunset and then a relaxing dinner sitting in the back lounge area with the fireplace on. Our nights would finish outside looking up at the huge sky of stars. I highly recommend this place! You will NOT be disappointed in a thing.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family's stay at the beach house for the month of January was a wonderful experience. We were very comfortable in the well appointed rooms, enjoyed the closeness to the beach and we had several pleasant evenings around the outside fireplace while we barbequed steaks and seafood. I would highly recommend this vacation accommodation and would gladly stay there in the future. Thank you for a great month.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing.

My family had an amazing stay at this Ventura property. This is a great winter or summer house really just steps from the beach. We were able to walk to downtown Ventura via the beach and were close to shopping and other attractions as well. My two young kids had a blast in the sand and there was also enough to do to occupy their teenage cousins. Ventura is an interesting town with a lot of historical spots such as the Buenaventura mission and Victorian architecture and murals mixed with happening restaurants, stores with a few thrift stores thrown in. The neighborhood where the house resides is very residential but close to the town and to the harbor and it certainly didn't hurt that we were able to walk to great fish and chips, home-style italian and frozen yogurt. The backyard was great for entertaining and the layout of the house was able to accommodate several families. Thanks Colin for giving up your Xmas at the beach for us- much appreciated and we hope to be back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I had a great time with a group of friends at this rental. It is cozy and is conveniently located close to the beach and local shops. I would stay again in a heartbeat and can hopefully book another stay in the near future. Please pass along our thanks to the owners of this beautiful home. The care and love of the home was evident to us and we felt so comfortable there. Our family had a wonderful reunion time and look forward to scheduling an entire week for next summer if the home remains available! Before we left, our family prayed a blessing over the house, the owners, and all who will stay there. I stayed here with my husband and our teenager with her friend last July. What a great time. You can walk down to the beach in less then a minute, cocktails and sunset, kids could walk a short distance to the restaurants at the end of Seaward. The house is even better then it looks on line, architectural yet warm and casual. Kitchen well equipped, Great back yard with bar-b-q and fireplace. Friends came and visited, plenty of room, bedroom and bath down, master up plus 2 other bedrooms up. Come to Ventura & stay here you will love it!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners.
