This house was built in 1907 and is believed to be the only true Craftsman house in Salida; not just Craftsman style–a genuine Craftsman house, bought from Sears Roebuck and Co. and delivered on one of the many trains that once ran through town. The back portion of the house, which contains the kitchen and bathroom, was added sometime around 1945.

In Salida, you’ll see old, sun-baked ranching trucks mix with shiny Porsches, leather-skinned ranchers rub elbows with spandex-clad mountain bikers, and fine art mingle with kitschy bric-a-brac. This house displays a similarly many-faceted personality; it is historic, charming, eclectic and a bit funky.

It has a lovely, covered front porch with a swing, a back patio with a fire pit, and plenty of green grass and shade trees. On the funky side, dowels prop the windows open, a clothespin holds up the shade on the front door, and the porch swing is hung with old climbing rope.

Inside, elegance mixes with shabby-chic. Nicely-finished furniture like a cherry sleigh bed, an antique oak bed, and a beautiful oak rocker are interspersed with a writing desk and dresser that need refinishing and a coffee table made from an old wooden typewriter box.

If you’re looking for a vacation rental that embodies the laid-back pace, unpretentious attitude, and synthesis of sensibilities that make Salida Colorado’s last best mountain town, you’ll absolutely love it here. It's a great, relaxing place to reconnect with family and friends--and to rest up for another day of adventure in the Arkansas Valley.

Enjoy your stay!

We are two couples in our early 30s who wanted to stay in Salida to enjoy the town and ski Monarch. This property was PERFECT for us. The large fenced-in yard was great for our dog. The home is comfortable and it's so nice to have queen beds in BOTH bedrooms. The kitchen had everything we needed. The best part was being able to walk to town just a few blocks away for dinner at Amica's and drinks at The Boathouse and Vic's. We loved our stay and should we ever have another getaway weekend in Salida we will definitely book this property again!

This house was adorable from the get go. A swing on the front porch added charm and relaxation. The photos of this gem of a house are great, but don't even begin to really show the homes true charm. High ceilings, large rooms, super comfortable furniture and beds, solidified the decision to rent a home, rather then staying at a hotel. Felt just like home and provided a great environment for my elderly parents to relax and not feel trapped, as they would in a hotel. They spent a great deal of time enjoying the outdoor areas and views from the porch. The cruiser bikes were perfect to toodle around town. You get a true sense of Salida when you get to stay in a home like this. The house was sooooo clean and EVERYTHING you could ever imagine was provided. Perfect location, close to everything, and views of the mountain ranges from every angle. Could not have asked for a more delightful, relaxing, and enjoyable experience. Great memorable times were had here.

We stayed at this cabin with our two littl girls for the spring break. Very simple, clean and well organized house, tasteful furniture, no clutter style. Jeff was very good to work with. We had to postpone our trip by a day due to sick kid and Jeff did not charge us and moved the entire stay up by a day, quite unusual and unexpected. Its located in a cute neighborhood as well. If we are in Salida again, I am certain we will stay there.

This home is exactly as it is depicted and described by the owner. It has all of the amenities one needs for a great vacation in Salida. I loved sitting on the front porch drinking coffee and visiting with the neighbors. The bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen in this cute cottage all feel like home! The two cruiser bikes are perfect for riding around town...one never needs to get in the car after arriving! This home's location is excellent and in a very nice area of town ~ close to all of the shops, parks, restaurants and the river front. The Salida farmer's market held each Saturday is right around the corner which offers beautiful veggies, bread, baked goods and art items. The owner is very kind and most willing to help with information about the Salida area. The neighbors are very kind too! I will return, again and again!
