Tucked within the Coastal Redwoods in Sonoma County and hidden up among terraces above the Russian River, sits "Far Reaches," an adorable vacation property that provides a quiet and romantic escape for a couple, yet can accommodate up to 5 guests. Here, amongst passionflower vines, wisteria, and a banana tree, you will find a private sanctuary, where your only companions will be birds and butterflies.
You and your family or friends will find a sweet cottage, large wrap-around deck, English garden house, outdoor Balinese meditation pavilion, as well as an outdoor sauna and other wonderful surprises to compliment and enrich your stay.
You will also find the tropical touch and exotic beauty of the island of Bali. Elaborate hand-carved teakwood doors, stone temple gates, as well as a small garden pond and fountains await your visit. We chose to christen the property "Far Reaches" due to the Balinese influence imprinted upon the property.
Swaying bamboo, colorful bougainvillea, and seasonal begonias mix and mingle with fragrant honeysuckle and Jasmine on the grounds of this one-of-a-kind property. Come, forget your cares, sip Chardonnay in nearby wineries, picnic along the rugged Sonoma coast, or just slowly meander through an ancient Redwood Forest. Travel to an enchanted get-away you are sure to remember fondly. Come to relax, rejuvenate, and replenish. Come to "Far Reaches."
Indoors find a warm, comfortable, cozy, and attractive cottage that you will enjoy calling home for your stay at the Russian River. Soft creamy colors combine with periwinkle and natural pine wood to create a soothing atmosphere. The main room has two sofas, a small office alcove with a desk, and a dining table for four that is able to seat five.
The kitchen is fully-equipped and the favorite room of some renters. Besides the customary refrigerator and gas stove/oven, there is also a dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, blender, small food processor, rice cooker, as well as general cookware and dishes. Filtered water is provided at the tap.
There are two bedrooms in the cottage. The main bedroom has a queen bed and the smaller bedroom has a twin day bed with a pull-out twin trundle bed. The detached garden house on the deck has a double, futon bed. All bed linens, pillows, comforters, and towels are provided.
Further amenities in the home include a washer and dryer, Comcast cable television, a DVD player, and VHS player. There is a library of videotapes and DVDs as well as shelves with books for those more interested in reading. A stereo with CD player is available and board games are provided for entertainment.
Outside "Far Reaches" front door you will find a flagstone patio area, a wonderful spot to sip coffee in the early morning. A corridor leads past a gas barbecue grill where you can cook dinner or even all of your meals. Further along, the flagstone leads to a large outdoor shower area. The shower has three heads and is a main attraction for guests no matter what the temperature outside.
The property has a large redwood deck with wraps-around half the cottage and is covered with teak furniture for lounging and outdoor living as well as dining. Outdoor heat lamps help keep the area cozy on crisp evenings. A fireplace chiminea and fountain provide a lovely ambiance. Also on the deck you will find the garden house, imported from England, which serves as a third bedroom.
Walk through the Balinese door and along the bamboo-laden pathway to the yard area. Pass by the stone temple gates where you will come across the Meditation Pavilion, a cozy covered bed with pillows and a perfect spot to quietly read a book or reflect. Further down in the yard is a small pond filled with water plants and koi fish. A fountain made of bamboo can be turned on at will. An outdoor redwood sauna provides a perfect way to release all your tension. A privacy fence for complete seclusion encloses the entire property.

There is such good energy here, and I know I will come away refreshed and prepared for the challenges ahead. I was so thrilled with your book, CD, and DVD collections--all my favorites! (Do we know each other?) Some of the titles brought me back many years..."Armistead Maupin's "Tales of the City"; I watched these all the time. Grew up to Helen Reddy's music and as a child, Xanadu! I could go on, but you get my drift. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I felt right at home here.This is by far the best retreat we've been on, and the best, most tastefully designed home. Very beautiful.

What a fabulous unique setting. Loved the indoors and outdoors including the shower, grill and wood stove. Everything worked, and superb backups: keys, flashlights, etc. Of the many "abodes" I've stayed, this one--Far Reaches--simply is the best!

I'm back! And will I return again--absolutely. Although this was to be a 'vacation'--a time away to rest. Instead it has been about 80% work. However, because I was here, the quiet, the solitude, the smell of the Redwoods, the peace that I feel, I got clarity and was able to come to decisions, make headway. So again, thank you--it is just what I needed.

Wow! What an amazing place. We had the best vacation here! To be in the tranquility of the redwoods with all the comforts of home--who could ask for more?! The sauna & outdoor shower were stupendous. We also enjoyed venturing out to different area & restaurants. Sonoma area is beautiful and everyone is so friendly! Thank you for sharing your cozy cottage--we all feel quite refreshed and renewed!
