Staying at Stoneflower is like sleeping in a museum! It's in a lovely setting, as stated, and it's quiet, serene and extremely peaceful. The home was built in 1965, and it is preserved very loyally. The only issue we had was with the limited kitchen space...it just isn't made for cooking a large meal. However, this wasn't an "deal-breaker" sort of issue. We made it work just fine. Be sure you are ready to build and maintain a fire in the fireplace if you go in the cold weather.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Nov 1 was my son's first "birthday" since he died Dec. 12, 2011. He would have been 49. I didn't want to be wround "humans", but wanted it to be a spiritual retreat for reflection and renewal. I read each day on the deck. The weather was sunny the entire time. The cottage is like living in art! I especially loved the reflection on the class from both the deck during the day (360 degree trees!) and at night (rafters for the entire cottage; looked like the cottage extended another 24 feet!). It was the peace, solitude, and nature that I sought (I grew up on a farm). The whole experience was perfect!Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

My husband and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary at Stoneflower. From the moment we arrived, we were in awe (and remained in awe) of this enchanting cottage. Nestled in the scenic woodlands of Eden Isle, the home feels private and secluded -- even though it's a stone's throw from the Red Apple Inn Country Club. Stoneflower is truly a work of art. Unique features include the natural rock den; the bathing grotto with a waterfall for a shower; and, of course, the vaulted ceiling with signature Fay Jones cross-lattice woodwork. The upstairs loft is comfortable and cozy; it lets in just the right amount of natural light in the mornings. The loft overlooks the stylish living room - another favorite room of ours for its hip, midcentury modern decor. The only drawback is the teeny tiny kitchen, but we made it work, and, honestly, it only added to the quirkiness and charm of this place. Outside, exploring the grounds, we marveled at the rock work, rock staircases, pond and other garden features. We saw deer and several squirrels. Stoneflower is the perfect romantic retreat. It showcases the genius and artistry of Fay Jones and reflects the natural beauty of the area. We loved our time at Stoneflower. We highly recommend it for a romantic weekend. And we hope to return again some day.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.
