Large Family Cabin - Walk to Sundance - 5BR
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
An enjoyable vacation home called “Hilda’s Heritage” having a gigantic stone chimney two stories tall and a wide, thick mantle with a beautiful wood-burning-fire-place-insert below gives one a sense of security, peace and comfort. A large, rustic chandelier hanging from the center of the high ceiling is adjustable for full light for playing games or subdued lighting for a restful evening. The kitchen, though narrow, has a refrigerator, a stove top, a microwave oven hid away above the double ovens, a dishwasher, dishes, towels, and many useful items such as an electric carving knife and a blender. There are ample dishes, pans and utensils, and cupboards for food supplies. The dining table, near the kitchen, has room for up to eight adults, and the high chair is nearby for a small child. Adjacent to the full bath and laundry room are two bedrooms, each with queen size beds.
Upstairs is the loft having comfortable sofas for eight or more guests, a TV hooked to VHS and DVD players. A large supply of VHS movies are there available for viewing. The master bath is on this level surrounded by three bedrooms--two with regular beds and one with stacked bunk beds.
The home is secluded, surrounded by impressive evergreen trees, aspen, and other trees and shrubs. All this is in its natural, original native setting. There is a pleasant, large lawn watered by sprinklers in the summer. The home has a deck at the entrance suitable for relaxation in the summer, and a second, larger deck with benches at the ground level. Table and chairs, and other summer stuff are stored.
Also for summer there are swings a slippery slide, and a volley ball net. Next to the ground-level deck is a concrete patio featuring a rock fireplace. The fireplace was spared when the original house was torn down.
We have a nice foot bridge next to the patio that crosses over the creek to get to our handy parking area. This creek originates at majestic Stewart Falls which is about two miles to the west. The trail to these falls can be found at the road side just west of our neighbor’s parking area. Cross a small bridge there.
There are several parking spots under the trees next to the patio. After crossing the major bridge from the Alpine Loop Road one turns left onto Stewart Road. This road goes down a steep hill for about a block. Stop at the bottom before crossing the bridge there, and turn into Hilda’s Heritage, go up a slight hill and park near the patio. Go up the three steps to get onto the patio.
Hilda’s Heritage has a gas furnace for winter heat. There is no air conditioning since the home stays cool in the summer because of the shade from the many large trees.
Hilda’s Heritage was finished in 1978 and the living area described above is 1900 square feet.
Windows on the south are two tiers high and about as wide as the main room which overlooks the creek, foot bridge, outdoor fire place and parking areas. For scenic views you may wish to take a nature hike to the west where Mountain Timpanogos comes into view. Taking a trip on the ski lift has lots of great scenic views, so you will be happy if you take your camera.
This home is on Stewart Road. Sundance Ski area is just across the road, and the main facilities are east about two blocks away. This is the base area having the restaurants, shops, ski lift, meeting rooms, and other pleasant things.
Yes there is wireless internet.

Thank you for renting us this cabin it is very nice everything worked out perfect for everyone. We plan to come back in the near future. We loved it. The McEntires (Continued:) Just arrived and was glad to be here with my children and extended family. We came in celebration of our son’s wedding. Staying at this cabin was great. My family enjoyed the books and the movies for the kids. The older folks are enjoying the (Sundance) lifts, the recreation, and the scenery. This will be such a memorable weekend for my grand children, and we thank you so much. I read about your great grand father and grand mother’s history, and I am so glad and grateful to them for creating a beautiful place on this mountain for others to enjoy. We loved the story, the history and the cabin stay. Your family has blessed ours and helped us to bond together. God bless you all, we hope to be able to return in the future.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Thank you so very much for allowing us to spend such a wonderful and amazing weekend at your cabin. There were ten women enjoying time away from our busy schedules as moms and just relaxing. Your accommodations were more than what we needed. This weekend will be one that we will cherish and keep in our memories for always. Thank you so much! We celebrated our 53 wedding anniversary here. We remembered the good times we enjoyed with J.E. in the cabin that was removed to build the new home and working with him at Timp Haven. Also the great deer hunts we had up in the Big Hole on Timp! While we were here I caught my limit of fish and we visited the lot the Stewarts sold us which now has a giant home on it. Thanks for a nice stay in a beautiful home and for the many memories that our stay rekindled.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We enjoyed our stay immensely. Th cabin is clean and comfortable and it was nice to have our family together for the weekend. It was nice to have games to play and a place to roast marshmallows and hot dogs. We hiked to the water fall and enjoyed the calm and quiet. It is a lovely place to be together. Thank you for letting us stay the weekend.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

What a splendid place to be! I so enjoyed mornings and evenings on the deck, listening to the roar of the stream and enjoying the peaceful surrounding hills and taking in the fragrances of the hardwoods! The cabin is cozy and well equipped, as well as convenient to fun of Sundance and the town below. I'll be back - and bring my family! Many thanks!Did you find this review helpful?
