The description of this property is right on. We had one of the best views of the condo with no other condo in our eyesight. If you are looking to visit Maui with an ocean front condo, this is the one. It is spacious and has two bedrooms separate from each other with privacy. The kitchen is double the size of usual condo kitchens. In reading some of the other reviews, the same was felt by others. The owner is always ready to correct any concern or problem we may have and his willingness is refreshing. Even something as simple as changing the florescent lightbulbs was corrected the next day. We were in Maui during the storm the first week in March and we did not receive the rainfall the other parts of the island received. That indicated the location was good. Don't hesitate to rent this place in your travels to Maui.

A spacious beautiful home away from home

This 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath condo w/ 2 ocean front lanais (1 of which also had a view of mountains from master bedroom) was a true delight to stay in. The kitchen has new granite counter tops & is the most spacious kitchen of any condo I've stayed in anywhere. Waking in the morning to the view of the ocean waves, the kayakers & paddle boarders, & the coos of the mourning doves was an inspiration to rise early every morning of our stay. Eating breakfast on the front lanai was another! The owner was very accomodating with special requests. Coconuts is a great place for fish tacoes (secret ingredient to slaw includes coconut milk & wasabi ... no mayo!) Very flavorful. Easy walk to Stella Blues or MacDonald's. Lovely long morning walks on the beach, wear shoes due to coral & rocks in some areas. Go to the swap meet on Saturdays 7:00-1:00 in Kahalui for gifts, fruits, vegs, etc. 100 vendors & very affordable. Kula Lavender Farm & Kula Lodge are both wonderful places to visit for an "upcountry visit".

Thank you Bill, for making your wonderful condo avialable to us. We had a wonderful time and it was such a perfect place to bring our 87 year old Mother. She was in heaven and watching her strength and health improve over the 12 days we were there was a gift in itself. The beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, mats and towels were used every day and it was a treat to have them available to us. We made sure to be home every day in time for the sunset - who needs a pricey restaurant when your own lanai provides the perfect view! This was our first visit in over 15 years and we are very keen to return. Mahalo!

One thing that neither Marni nor Shirley mentioned in their reviews was that they both had to deal with a leak from the condo above. They could see it damaging the paint in the ceiling, and they both reported the problem and kept me informed. Marni even took a photo for me. Mahalo to both of you and to all previous guests at Kauahle Makai 335 who have shown such respect for the Island, positive attitudes, and been so very helpful with your suggestions and actions. An awesome condo for sure! The condo was clean and well maintained, the views incredible, the beds comfy, most certainly the best condo we've stayed in on Maui. The grounds were well taken care of as was the pool. Just a word to future guest, if your shopping at Walmart take your own bags or you'll be buying theirs. The Island doesn't allow plastic bags (very understandable), most stores provide paper bags, Walmart does not. I will reccommend this condo to anyone I know is visiting the Island. Thanks for the wonderful stay!! :)

Sadly, we are back from Hawaii and your lovely condo. We just wanted to thank you again for the opportunity to stay at your condo. It was absolutely perfect for our family, we especially enjoyed the lanai off the master bedroom. We were able to sit out there in the evenings listening to the ocean without disturbing our children while they slept in the other bedroom and on the sofabed. Very roomy condo with a bath with shower and one with tub. EXCELLENT view from either bedroom or front room as well. We like Kihei because we think it is centrally located. Owner reccomended Coconuts and we ate dinner there although some may think it is more of a lunch place. We took the BACK way to Hana and then continued around the regular way. The road was fine with a regular car when we went but be careful almost all rental companies prohibit going this way. Our next trip we will definitely stay here if available.

You can't go wrong staying here! I just got back from a week long stay with my parents, husband, and two sisters and we all had a fabulous time!! The condo is everything we wanted and more. It's in a perfect location, very clean, very comfortable, and all the amenities you could want. I would definitely stay her again and highly recommend staying here. You won't be disappointed!!! Just Paradise

Bill, As you know, this is our sixth stay here, and it just keeps getting better. For future guests, i would recommend a stay of at least two weeks. You get to feel so much more in tune with the island. Views are always awesome, the condo is quiet and comfy, and beaches were sparkling. Best beach walking on the island is right here. We saw turtles, eels, opihi... Maui Sunset had seaweed, none here. Hana Beaches are next best. Keawakapu is third, but have to go early. Thanks for the WiFi. We tried stand up paddle surfing and it is great. Kalama rents boards but is crowded, but you can bring the boards up here, no crowds. Next year will be number 7. Aloha

Bill - I just wanted to say 'thanks' - we had a wonderful stay at your condo. The sunsets were beautiful, the accomodations were exactly as expected, and the location was perfect for us to sightsee the island. Special thanks for being honest about the beach - seaweed was heavy in front of the complex but lots of clean beach north and south. We loved the grill area - if you don't already have a picture of that on your website you may want to add it - that's a great selling point. We moved from Maui to a highrise in Waikiki that had coin-operated electric grills - what a bummer. - Tom

The highlights for our trip to Maui were the beaches, snorkeling, and Warren & Annabelle's magic show (make reservations a month or so before you go to Maui - it is always sold out for a good reason!). We prefered staying at the condo to eat & relax, when we were not sightseeing or at the beaches. Each morning we would sit out on the Lanai and read while the sun came up which was absolutely gorgeous - then head out to the beaches or sightseeing. The condo had a nice library of good reading material. The evenings that we were there, we watched the incredible sunsets. The beach, behind the condo, was not the best for snorkeling or swimming, but in the afternoons, there were very strong trade winds in this location which the wind surfers loved. The only service problem we had to have was regarding a shortage of linens - we had only 3 washcloths and 1 dishcloth, so we called and received plenty the next day. The laundry facilities were great, EZ access and made quick work of the laundry we chose to run. The condo could use some updating - got stuck in the 80's. For example, there were light bulbs not working, unscrewed partially or missing. The fluorescent type used were energy efficient but were unsightly in the type fixtures the condo had. We couldn’t get the light over the sink in the kitchen to work. The draperies were double like hotels (sheer and opaque), but some had holes in them. The furniture & upholstery seemed older and the bedspreads, draperies and linens somewhat faded. Since I am a visual person, I had to look beyond the updating needs and enjoy the views, which I did – the views were amazing and the condo was clean. Regarding technology – there was one small TV and a DVD player – nothing fancy. There is no internet access in the unit, unless you go somewhere else, or out by the pool. The winds are calm in the morning but the trade winds hit in the afternoon in this area in Kihei. The BBQ, pool and picnic tables by the pool (to use the internet) all get quite a blast of wind in the afternoons. Some of the beaches had somewhat cloudy water due to rain runoff at the time we went - would go May to October next time. Kihei is a more laid back town – not as tourist oriented or upscale, which we liked. In summary, we had an awesome time. It would have been good to have little nicer amenities but the views compensated completely & the location was great for all our traveling around the island.

September 7-16, 2008 Dear Bill & Denise: Just a few comments regarding the wonderful vacation we had in Maui and at your condo. We sure enjoyed the beautiful sunsets from the lanai.. and we rushed back to the Condo every afternoon to just witness those spectactular events! We were so busy sightseeing and visiting the many attractions that we did not have time to do the beach scene justice. Will have to make up for it on our next trip. Also had fun exploring the many restaurants recommended by friends & your prior guests. A). Here are thigs we recommend seeing & visiting: Gardens etc. at the Kaanapali Hyatt Hotel; Banyan Tree in Lahaina; Maui Tropical Plantationin in Waiapu; Iao State Park & Sugarcane Museum in Waikapu; Hotels & golf courses in Wailea and the lava flow in Makena. Drove to top of Haleakala..but clouds obstructed view. Went to one lu'au( at Maui Prince Hotel)but were very disappointed. B) Eating Places: Mama's Fish House in Pa'ia (excellent & expensive), Charlie's in Paia - our favorite. great fish & chips and plate- size macademia & blueberry pancakes were fabulous; Stella Blues & also Antonios in Kiehi; Leilani's & Cheeseburger in Paradise in Lahaina; Plantation House in Kapalula (great food & view). Hope the above is somewhat helpful for first time visitors. Bill & Denise, once again thank you for your kind generosity and for allowing us to experience the Maui adventure in your Condo at the very unique Kauhale Maki complex. Mahalo Bill, I had a very relaxing, quiet stay in your condo. One thing I still remember is falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the surf. Not loud, and not at all when the wind wasn't favorable, but a relaxing way the end and begin a day. The condo was everything needed for hanging out on site or as a base to see the whole island. Best MahiMahi is at Peggy Sue's in Azeka Cntr in Kihei. Great snorkeling at mile 14 turnout near Olowalu going towards Lahina. I'm working out my own recipe for POG. JUST WANTED TO DROP YOU A NOTE TO SAY THANK YOU FOR LETTING US USE YOUR CONDO FOR OUR VACATION - WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME AND IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE. THE VIEW IS SPECTACULAR ESPECIALLY AT SUNSET. WE EVEN HAD ONE MORNING WITH THE FULL MOON SETTING THAT WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD. ONE OF THE GIRLS WOKE SOME OF US UP TO SEE IT, IT WAS SOMETHING WE WILL NEVER SEE HERE AT HOME. WE WERE ALSO ENTERTAINED WITH A DOUBLE RAINBOW IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. THE PEOPLE AT THE FRONT OFFICE WERE VERY HELPFUL AND WE HAD NOT PROBLEMS IN CHECKING IN OR CHECKING OUT. THEY EVEN HELPED US TO BOOK THE ROAD TO HANA THRU VALLEY ISLE TOURS YOU CAN HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE STAYING THERE OUR GUIDE DAVID WAS EXCELLENT. WE ALSO WERE ABLE TO SEE THE DOLPHINS WITH THE PACIFIC WHALE FOUNDATION LANAI TOUR IT WAS AMAZING SITE TO SEE. WE APPRECIATED THE FACT THAT THE OFFICE ACCEPTED "LEFT OVERS" FOR THE SHELTERS SO WE FEEL WE HAD FUN BUT ALSO HELPED OUT OTHERS. Bill, thank you for sharing your 1100 square feet of paradise. The condo was in perfect shape, and very accommodating for 4 people. The unit is several hundred feet from the ocean, but has stunning sunset views. Our only disappointment was you could not hear the surf at night!

As a former resident of this unit, I can say Bill, you have made 335 beautiful! We enjoyed another memorable vacation in 335. The unit is very well furnished, clean and feels as wonderful as home. The location is fabulous. The view awesome. Breakfast on the balcony as well as evening wine as the sun sets is beyond description. This trip we added Warren and Annabelle's Magic Show (side splitting) in Lahaina and the Slack Key concert at the Ritz Carlton to our itinerary. Both were wonderful. Suggest snorkeling at Ulua Beach in Wailea. Water is usually calm. Arrive early (8am) to enjoy before the winds pick up. Everything you need is in close proximity to the condo. We absolutely love everything about the condo. Thanks so much.

My sister and I are so lucky we found your name on VRBO. The location is great - close to some of the best beaches for swimming and snorkeling, restaurants and shopping. The condo itself was well equipped, clean and had a jaw dropping view. During our stay, a screen in one of the windows blew out. Property management was there immediately to replace it. wow! The apt was heaven! We woke up in the morning, had coffee on a balcony with a view that looked better than a postcard. This place had it all! And if it didn't, you are just a few minutes from many stores. There's even a little store in the building! The AC was helpful in July. There was a snorkling mask and fins in the closet! It felt like home and was clean! The pool & jacuzzi are small but nice. The ocean is a few steps away from the apt. What a treat! The beach is clean and safe. Would definetly look Mr. Dixon up first! We left spices, foil etc for the next visitors. Keep the tradition going!! Thanks for a great time! It was like coming to a safe and clean home after a day full of fun! Patti - Maui is the best! Sadly our two weeks at kauhale makai is over. Ed couldn't have found a better place in to celebrate my 70th birthday. The weather was perfect and we had lazy days walking your beach and using the pool and jacuzzi. We appreciated your quiet, perfectly situated and spacious condo. The views are the best. Just want to thank you for the use of your lovely home. After two weeks, it always felt like we were coming home after a day at the beach. Sitting on the master bedroom lanai in the morning with a cup of coffee was beyond words. The sun over Haleakala and the ocean beyond were spectacular.
