This delightful cottage, built in 1928, has 24-inch thick stone walls, and a slate roof. It has been recently renovated with a wonderful modern cathedral ceiling kitchen, living room, and loft area, and new furnishings. The living room has comfortable seating and a wonderful stone fireplace. There are two complete bedrooms + a loft which serves also has a second sitting area + sleeping area.
The gate house sits on a knoll overlooking a beautiful, private five-acre lake on a historic 100 acre estate. There is a guest dock with benches for relaxing; ladders from the dock to enjoy swimming in the lake; a swimming platform to swim to (if you care not to swim the entire lake), and lots of chaise lounge chairs at the guest area to spend the day. You may walk completely around the lake on a mowed path, or explore the other 40 acres of mowed, rolling fields. Or take a hike up the hillside and just explore! Benches are appropriately place to enjoy different views of the lake. Enjoy beautiful sunsets, listen to the birds, or stroll the grounds. You will feel like you are many miles from everywhere, yet only minutes to restaurants, movies, and stores.
We supply chair floats to dream away the day on the lake, and there are 2 rowboats, 2 paddleboats, and a canoe to explore the lake or use for fishing.
Wonderful museums are in the area, as well as fantastic antique shopping. West Point is but 35 minutes south. Bedroom one has a king bed; bedroom two has twin beds, and the loft has a double bed.
