Rockwood house description
There is an unlimited number of things to do from this lakeside house on the shores of Moosehead Lake. If fishing, boating, hiking, kayaking, or rafting fails to move you, lay in the hammock and read a book while the waves lap the shore.
The 'camp' comfortably sleeps nine and is made for a crowd. Two full bathrooms make staying with a larger group feasible. Intentionally equipped without a television, your kids can catch trout from the shore using worms, jump from the dock, go on a crayfish hunt, or try their hand at flat water kayaking. It's all here while mom and dad can comfortably catch some R & R and maintain supervision.
Owner is a former Maine Raft Guide and water enthusiast. Call Ryan today to book your trip and plan adventure for families, couples, or both. Take advantage of boat and kayak rental in the same cove. Call Ryan today and it's not too late (207) 462-3874.

Ryan was very accommodating to us and our needs. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed our stay there immensely and hope to go back to the region in near future. Thank you for sharing your little gateway with us, we came back home refreshed and energized. Even our Golden Retriever was in 7th heaven at your place!

Owner response: And by the sounds it, some time on the water was a good recipe as well! Anna, we appreciate your feedback and the evident pleasure you had on your vacation. There's no place better on the planet I know of. You're always welcome back to Moosehead -- Ryan
We have vacationed at Moosehead Lake several times in the last ten years and it never disappoints. Ryan's family cabin was perfect for us. The listing description was accurate. The cabin was comfortable for our family of seven (plus dog) and was well maintained. Well stocked kitchen, nice furniture (including beds) and more than adequate in every way. We enjoyed the ping pong table, board games and the great selection of books on the day that we had rain. We were outside as much as possible and loved the use of the kayaks, swimming, long walks on the dirt roads, campfires and just sitting at the waterfront soaking up the view. Proximity to The Birches is terrific for dinner, drinks or boat rentals. Ryan was a pleasure to work with. He was extremely responsive to my questions and very informative about local areas of interest. I would not hesitate to recommend this cabin to anyone seeking peace and quiet in a fabulous location. I hope that we can make it next summer. Thanks again Ryan!

Owner response: Craig -- I am so glad Moosehead and the camp provided a respite. I remember commiserating about our work-technology-leashes so I'm glad you could unplug. Your booking allows us to pay taxes and fuel etc and we are certainly grateful. Best to you and your family and you're welcome back to the West Shores of Moosehead any time! Ryan

This property is located on the western shore of Moosehead Lake about 30 minutes north of Greenville. It is a very private and beautiful location with views of the backside of Mt Kineo. Within walking distance to the Birches Resort where the food and atmosphere was excellent. Had a great time!

Year Purchased: 1976
About the owner: My family has enjoyed use of this retreat since 1976. What started out as a rustic pole cabin has transformed into a house. Moosehead Lake maintains our devotion, fascination, and willingness to explore after all these years. Our collection of memories continue to grow each season. We hope you find this place as special as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Rockwood:
This is true wilderness and true Maine. Moose, bear, and white tail deer seen every season.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Lakeside, lakeside, lakeside and modern convenience. While we once pumped water from the lake to do our dishes, the house now has a washer, dryer, and electric refridgerator 'I tell yah by Jesus.' You won't find television here -- on purpose.
