This home was such a wonderful retreat from my busy life. The home itself was beautiful and very well kept. Everything was comfortable and quiet. It was so nice to be able to wake up and walk right down to the water to go fishing, canoeing or swimming. We had the opportunity to meet the maintence manager and cleaning professional and they were both so wonderful, kind and helpful! We went fishing everyday and had the opportunity to catch and eat our own fish! I would recommend this home to anyone looking to escape from the business of everyday life and just enjoy the comfortable home and beautiful surroundings! We cannot wait to go back again, and bring family!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Much appreciation.

My daughter and I stayed at this house for a week in the spring. The house was recently remodelled and very comfortable. It was well furnished and everything worked well for our entire stay. great deal for the price. would definitely recommend it to anyone. The lake was very peaceful and I wish we would have had more time to enjoy the water. great firepit, outside deck, and BBQ in the backyard under the tree for a nice evening near the water.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Much appreciation for this excellent review. It is that for which we strive!

This comfortable, clean and modern lakefront cabin exceeded my expectations. Ed, the owner was fantastic. He clearly loves the area and wants his guests to enjoy it too. He provided us with great ideas for activities and restaurants. He called during our stay to make sure all was well. We kayaked the nearby rivers every day and each one was beautiful, and clear with plenty of birds and wildlife. Where else can you kayak a crystal clear river and observe monkeys in a natural habitat? There is plenty of room in this home and the fenced yard would be great for dog owners. The community is warm and friendly. One night we ate dinner at Ft McKoy community center. Home cooked food for $6.00 and the money went to a good cause as well. I would recommend the rental without hesitation.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Our objective met and exceeded once again!!

This is a very clean and beautiful cottage. We rented both the cottage and the guest house. There were five adults and four very large dogs and no one got their toes stepped on. We went to the rope swing a couple of times and to Salt Springs. Rode for hours through the country. We canoed and swam around the lake all day and night, cooked every night on the BBQ. Ed’s staff made sure we had plenty of wood for the fire pit where we cooked smores and just hung out and did a lot of talking and laughing. I also took a volleyball/badmittin game and there was plenty of room in the yard. The dogs swam and ran around playing and we didn’t have to worry about them getting out onto the road. No one, not even the dogs wanted to leave. Thank you Ed and your staff for making this a vacation to remember. We WILL be returning to this lovely place.Owner response: This is our objective - Happy, Rested, Satisfied Guests!

This home away from home was the perfect place for our "time off" get away! If you are looking for a place to fish, canoe, swim, walk, or just plain sit and do nothing, this is it. The views from the house are exquisite...morning, noon or night! The lake is peaceful and calm. The house is nicely decorated and comfortably furnished. Ed has done a nice job providing his guests with nice linens, pretty pictures, great wine glasses, Internet, flat screen tv, and a very nice fire pit on the patio. If you are looking for a fancy house like you would find in the city ... you might be disappointed. Instead, the owner is providing you with a wonderful, relaxing get away in a casual, out of the way place. We dined on the river at Corky's, watched mud bloggers on the weekend, shopped antique stores and enjoyed the location of "Doc Hollywood" in Micanopy, Florida. we took a cruise down the Silver River with Captain Tom, dined in Okala at Harry's Bar and Grill, sat on the patio til all hours of the night, and had a truly wonderful vacation. Thank-you Ed for your wonderful hospitality, your great outlook on life and your dedication to making sure that your renters have a wonderful experience. We definitely will return if the opportunity arises and will recommend your island lake house to all of our friends and family. Dianne and Sam et alOwner response: Much appreciation for the kind words. I appreciate your being there.

It was PERFECT! The entire family had an awesome time in this comfortable, very clean, spacious and well-equipped lake house situated in a peaceful neighborhood in the middle of nature. We really enjoyed the beautiful, relaxing view. Great outdoors activities: BBQs & bond fires, canoeing and fishing on the property lake and nearby Ocklawaha lake - biking at Santos (Ocala), one of the best mountain bike parks in the US only 35 minutes away, etc... Kids even dipped into the lake at Christmas time... Oustanding customer service. We are definitely recommending this extraordinary property to our friends and relatives!Owner response: Thank you. This is my objective. I love having happy guests, them having the opportunity to experience beautiful rural Florida, fresh water lake, and nature.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: Native Floridian; worldwide traveler; Appreciation for nature and central Florida terrain.
Why the Owner Chose Ocala:
My family has owned a retreat in this lake region since 1948. Currently, I own the 2 original cottages that were part of this retreat where my brothers and cousins grew up. Several years ago, I invested in significantly upgrading the properties. I recently bought this 3rd cottage on the next lake over (Island Lake) from our retreat. It is a stunning place. I love this area for its natural lakes; the Ocala National Forest; easy access to Ocala, Gainesville and Palatka; and great winter climate. As well, it is a break from all the coastal beach traffic.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Clean natural spring-fed lake; serenity; live oak trees with Spanish moss, small towns nearby, easy access to beaches, perfect location to go to Gainesville, Ocala, or Palatka.
