Perfect for nature lovers, a rolling green lawn leads up to a secluded cottage located behind a 40 acre land conservancy located on a bluff overlooking Long Island Sound. The panoramic views from the diningroom/living room area are exquisite and provide a gorgeous sunset view. The cottage is accessible via an unpaved one lane road that winds through the woods and up the hill to a dead end road wherethe cottage is located tucked away behind rose and butterfly bushes. There is a slate slab patio with a picnic table and a wooden grill shaded by trees. A wooden deck is the perfect spot to sit out on the glider and enjoy the thriving bird life and view the garden. Windows surround the house so every room has a view. The house is quite secluded with plantings between the house and its neighbors for ultimate privacy. Feel far away from it all but have the amenities such as air conditioning, washer/dryer, and dishwasher. The stove is a propane Thermador stove which is great to cook on. There are two bathrooms located upstairs in the house. The upstairs area is all wood flooring. A woodburning soapstone stove is in the living room. The guest bedroom is in a windowed downstairs room that is accessed by a circular metal staircase. This room is large and cool, with cement flooring with throw rugs. Although the house is located on a bluff overlooking Long Island Sound, the beach access is located at the end of the road and is an easy two minute walk. The incline to the sound is very steep and roughly 80 feet from top to bottom.
The sound beach is perfect for swimming. If the tide is right, the water going into or out of the inlet provides a fun tube ride. Or take a ride to explore the many vineyards that surroung Peconic. Sang Lee's organic farmstand is just a couple of miles west of the house on the north road if you would like some delicious organic produce or free range meats and eggs. Catapano Farm at the end of Mill Lane has organic eggs and their own award winning goat cheese. Drive into Greenport for a coffee at Aldo's or visit the local health food store, The Market. The Southold Seafood Market is an excellent resource for fresh and local seafood. Or just relax and enjoy the comfort of this cottage on the bluff.
The focus of the cottage is really about being in a gorgeous secluded place and appreciating the natural beauty of the surrounds. Parking is at the foot of the driveway and you walk to the cottage. It is a wonderful place for reading and relaxing and birdwatching.

My boyfriend and I stayed for a week this summer. So quiet, private and peaceful! It was a perfect place to relax, unplug and unwind. Looking forward to coming back next summer!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers.

We had a wonderful time at this delightful, hidden gem of a house. My husband and I spent a month here at the beginning of the summer and I can't describe how nice the time we spent there was. The house is simple and private and secluded, deep in the woods but on an amazing cliff overlooking the sound. The views of sunsets from the dinner table were unforgettable. Osprey flew right by the window. You can walk along the beach forever and rarely see another person. Absolutely wonderful. I would recommend this house without hesitation.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

About the owner: I am a psychotherapist who splits my time between Peconic and Marfa, TX. Birding and gardening are two of my favorite pastimes as well as owning parrots.
Why the Owner Chose Peconic:
The diversity of wildlife and outdoor activities drew me to this area. It is a great place for beach activity as well as bike riding and walking. It is easily accessible to the city by train or bus, but feel a million miles away.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
I love the wilderness feel to this property. It is always on the verge of being taken over by the flora surrounding it but that is what makes it fantastic. There are lots of rabbits, birds, turtles and other little creatures that make this their home. I love the fact that you can see the water and watch the weather come in off the sound.
