We rented your vacation house for opening weekend for Halibut. We love, love loved the house. It is so homey and the sunset from the patio was awesome. we will definitely be back. I love all of your pictures and wall hangings. Sorry we meant to leave you a surprise in the freezer and when we were driving down the road I asked Dennis if he remembered and he said no ;-(. Next time. I have your number so when we are up next weekend if we catch more Halibut I will see if we can hookup with you ans share. It was awesome also to have the room to park both rigs. Thank you again Dennis and Cindy Chonzena (Pam and Tim also)Owner response: We're so glad that all four of you had a good time on the island and in our home. The weather couldn't have been better! Especially for May. You couldn't have picked a better few days to visit the island let alone go fishing. They say we're going to have a long and hot summer - and I'm holding 'em to it!!! With the boat launch right down the street we hope you got out early enough to enjoy as much of the day as possible and we hope you caught all the Halibut allowed. Thank you for taking the time to leave us this great review, it really means a lot to us. We too look forward to your return!

The house was a perfect, peaceful and comfortable weekend getaway from Seattle. We enjoyed the tulips in Mt Vernon on the drive up and a short hike at Deception Pass before arriving in Coupeville. The town is adorable and I will definitely be back to explore the town and bluff hike along Ebey's Landing in the future. The house was super clean, spacious and on a quiet street with a nice view of the water. I only wish the clouds had dispersed long enough for us to get a glimpse of the mountains out the window. Sande and Peter were very accommodating and flexible with our arrival and departure times, which was much appreciated. We will definitely be back!Owner response: Even though Seattle is only 40 miles away - it's like another world compared to Whidbey. We're so glad you had a chance to get of of the city and found our home what you were looking for. The fact that the time of year you chose to come - coincided perfectly with the tulips blooming in the Skagit Valley was only icing on the cake. And yes, those clouds...I kept hoping they would part even if for just for a few moments, so you could see the snow-capped Olympics. Maybe next time! No matter though, there is always something to see and do on Whidbey, and we're sure you will find something new every time you return, which we hope will be soon.

We don't recall the number of times we have stayed at this home but I must say that each and every visit has been a joy. It is as advertised. One of our daughters and her family live about five minutes away and having this comfortable, clean and cosy rental available when we travel from Wisconsin to see them takes the "unknown" out of the lodging equation. This home is as advertised. On a rainy day or evening the warmth that the living room "fireplace" generates chases the chill allowing you to enjoy a glass of the wine and cheese/crackers supplied by the owners. On a clear and warm evening watch dynamic sunsets from the deck. The fully equipped kitchen is clean and modern. The beds are comfortable with snugly sheets and blankets. Fluffy towels await you in the bathroom which also has its own heater. No chills when getting out of the shower. This home is as advertised. On our most recent trip we left more than a foot of snow on the ground at home and pulled into the driveway here greeted by green grass and beautiful flowers blooming in their window boxes. We felt a true sense of welcome. I say it again this home is as advertised. No disappointments.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: As always, having you stay in our home is a treat. It feels like ol' home week when you return. We know that family is what draws you to the island, and family always comes first with us. To know that you feel comfortable in your home away from home means more than you know and we always look forward to your return. You've been there with us from the beginning. Your kind words and encouragement have been extremely positive influences on us. Thank you so much!

Having been to Whidbey many times in the past, we knew exactly were we wanted to "land" for a perfect island location and reap the benefits of the rain shadow. This home is in that exact spot. The location is perfect for absolutely everything!!! The price was great and the home is immaculate...which is a big deal to us, especially dealing with allergies. (Had no issues here at all...didn't even need my air purifier, which I faithfully bring everywhere.) The view from the home is really something. Enjoyed watching the Keystone ferry come and go, looking at Crockett Lake, and seeing the snow covered Olympics. We can only imagine how nice it would be to relax in the lawn chairs on a warm sunny day out front and use the new grill stored in the garage.) The home is stocked with anything you may need, the water tastes amazing, nicely decorated, very comfortable...especially the lazy boy chairs, great directions for the TV and DVD player and the owners were delightful to deal with...made themselves available to us the whole time. Was sweet to be welcomed to a bottle of wine and cheese and crackers when we arrived. I celebrated my 52nd birthday this weekend and I truly can't think of a better one I've had. I can't stop smiling thinking about everything we did and to be at such a comfortable location to celebrate it all was a treat. Thank you so much Sandy and Pete. Your home is a gem and we will not hesitate to come back.Owner response: Happy Belated Birthday! We were so glad to see the sun come out on the Sunday you were here. It was in a word - glorious! The Olympics peaks covered in snow and the color of the Sound were amazing. We're so pleased you had that to wake up to. You are right in thinking how nice it would be to sit out on front porch in warmer weather. We've done just that and can assure you it's heavenly. We look forward to your coming back as soon as you can. The spring and summer months are great to watch all the baby animals that frequent the yard - especially the baby deer with their spots. Be sure to bring your camera! We'd like to thank you for taking such good care of our home - we will be sure to have it as clean and comfortable for you upon your next visit. Sande and Peter

We experienced a very comfortable and hospitable stay at this beach house. It was a nice surprise to receive an appetizer tray, fruit, and a bottle of wine upon our arrival. This house presented a great base camp to go explore the nearby state parks: Fort Casey with it's military history of extensive grounds of gunneries and protection of the Puget Sound. The grounds were amazing to explore and the wind was enormous this time of year! Next was Eby Landing State park which provided a beautiful scene of the ocean surf and hiking along the upper bluff. The town of Coupeville is very much worth taking in (more than once :). We are very thankful for the opportunity to bring our dog to this property, with the extra room in the house and the fenced front patio and open back yard. 99% positive review with only negative that the bed in the master bedroom was not so comfortable. We look forward to a future stay here to explore the extensive biking trails on this island that we observed!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are happy that all of you enjoyed your stay in our home. The island is really a beautiful place and has a wide range of activities for a variety of tastes. We thank you for your compliments on our home as well as the comment regarding the master bedrooms bed. Most guests find both beds to their liking but now after hearing this I will be shopping for a mattress pad that will hopefully be pleasing to all. Thank you for taking the time to leave us an honest review and we look forward to your return.

This place was perfect! Big enough not to be crowded in any way and yet small enough to feel very cozy. Very clean, nicely remodeled, had a real "beach house" feel to it. Kitchen well supplied, bed very comfortable, nicely furnished. The house is located in a small subdivision, several minutes out of Coupeville, on lots that were probably an acre each...in short, you are not alone, but it doesn't get any quieter...just right if it is rest you are seeking. Also, less then ten minutes to the Port Townsend ferry...a lovely day trip, walk on the ferry, walk off right into the heart of P.T. And plenty of nice walking trails near by. But the nicest part was the personal contact with the owners, very accomodating, very nice to deal with and, since they live near by, always available should something be needed. We'll definitely be back.Owner response: We truly appreciate and thank you for taking the time to give us this great review! Especially considering after a vacation folks tend to want to just unwind. We are happy to know that our home fit your needs and that you had a relaxing and enjoyable visit to Whidbey. It is a beautiful place to live and we like knowing we can share that with others. Please come back soon. The spring and summer time here are wonderful seasons to see all the colors of the flowers and the abundance of wildlife.

This place is all about the details. It was perfect for myself, my husband and our three kids! Coupeville is an adorable town, and the rental was great. The view is beautiful. Right out the front door is a view of a natural reserve / lake where we saw bald eagles, herons, hawks, deer and more. Just past that is the Sound. We watched lovely sunsets in the evening and explored the island during the day. The house had everything we needed and more. The owner made our day by leaving us wine, crackers & cheese, juice boxes for the kids and treats for our golden retriever and by making sure the house was heated before we arrived. The kids loved watching the bunnies out the backdoor and relaxing around the cozy house. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for a lovely vacation!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are happy to hear your family enjoyed our home and Whidbey Island. If you think the views of wildlife and sunsets are good now you should visit the island in the spring and summer! Thank you for your kind words about our place, we do love it and try to make our guests feel at home. We look forward to your return. Sande and Peter

It's rare but we got married the 2 Jan - and this was 25 years for us.. we wanted a quick and easy getaway as we only found out we had the time off a week before. Sande & Peter were the hosts we chose :) Despite the busy holiday season they were available to book our last minute plans with an excellent rate. The cosy home was just what we needed - quiet, spacious, comfortable. The view of the shipping lanes and ferry docking added interest but far enough away to not disturb. The grocery shopping was close by and very adequate. I have to say that the recliner chairs were a plus as we read a book and relaxed in between scenic drives and exploring shops in nearby villages. The fireplace added coziness as well as comfort. On our last night our newly wed kids joined us and were very impressed with the accomodations! Thanks for the extra treat on our arrival of cheese and wine! We would not hesitate to recommend this as would our kids :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We were very happy to accommodate you and glad to know you enjoyed our home. Since we didn't know it was your 25th - let us send you congratulations now. It isn't something you see all that often anymore. But wonderful to hear. Let's keep the hopes that your "newlyweds" reach the same goal. Please consider us in the future for more celebrations! Sande and Peter

The home itself is spacious, very clean and has all the amenities you need. The owners made themselves readily available if you needed a question answered about the area and were very helpful. The location is great and above all is quiet. There are grocery shops and good restaurants in the vicinity and of course much to see on Whidbey Island. We had a wonderful time and can strongly recommend this home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We truly appreciate reviews from our guests. It not only makes us feel rewarded for the effort and labor to make our vacation home a welcoming place for visitors, but it teaches us what better we might do to make our guests enjoy their stay and take home with them wonderful memories. Thank you Sean for your kind words. We are delighted that your family felt comfortable in our home and look forward to your return!

This rental is a gem. The mix of prairie and bluffs in the southern part of the Ebey Reserve is for us, along with Deception Pass, a favorite in all of coastal Puget Sound; this home is right among that, a couple minutes by bike from Ft Casey & Keystone Spit (this portion of the reserve is also flat enough for easy biking, even with kids in tow). Everything about the home is crisp & clean; the beds are comfortable and every room has plenty of light & air. There's a pleasant grass backyard as well; upon entering the house, my two very young sons were entranced by a pair of fawns just a yard or two from the back door, and that kind of peacefulness is typical of the neighborhood. Don't miss the bluff hike at the Nature Conservancy preserve off Hill Rd.; families visiting in the summer will also appreciate the open-air Ft. Casey pool.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: You know, we humans learn something new every day, and this review proves to be no exception to that rule. We are grateful not only for this wonderful review of our home and Whidbey - but for what it reminds us of, as guests ourselves in this beautiful place. Thank you for bringing to light some of the spectacular and memorable places this island has to offer. We look forward to your enjoying it again - if not in our home, somewhere on this remarkable island. We are happy to know your little ones had the chance to see the twin fawns, (of which this year there are three sets!) It brings about an inner joy to us to see nature explode every year and are happy your little ones and you had the chance to experience it too.

The owners have provided everything you would hope for. The location is perfect for exploring the whole island, and has a peaceful and lovely view of the lake and ocean beyond. Sitting on the deck with morning coffee, you may be visited by rabbits or deer as you watch ships headed to and from Seattle. The home is spotlessly clean and well maintained. Sande and Peter were generous and helpful hosts -- very warm and friendly. We surely would want to stay here again when we next visit Whidbey Island.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are happy to know that you arrived home safely and thank you for taking the time to write this review! We enjoyed our stay over the July 4th weekend. The home was immaculately kept, with attention to detail and everything you could need in the kitchen. The owners went above and beyond! We enjoyed our lovely view from the front deck. Lots of animal life including twin fawns, bunnies, and eagles soaring overhead. A terrific place, and very close to Coupeville for shopping and dining if desired. Very comfortable stay, thank you so much!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: A big thanks to you for this lovely review and the gorgeous weather you brought with you! We are so happy you had the chance to see the new fawns! Each year we get a new batch of the little darlings and never grow tired of seeing them with their moms. And the bunnies and bald eagles - there is never a shortage of entertainment by mother nature. When I created the ad for our vacation rental I wanted to include the wildlife as one of the great things about this island and this home. But one has to witness it themself to truly understand how terrific it really is. We look forward to your return!

What a great find! Due to a change in plans, we had to quickly find a vacation rental to share with my parents who were flying in from out of state . We couldn't be more pleased with this rental. It was more spacious than we expected and the amenities were great. The only thing we needed were groceries and there's store just five minutes away! Close to state parks and downtown Coupeville and just a short drive to Oak Harbor. Beautiful view of the sound from the picture window. The owner was responsive to emails and a joy to work with. We definitely be returning to this vacation rental!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you so much for this lovely review! SO many times people say they will leave one but so far we only have two. We too look forward to your return. Even in the winter months, and you know how they are here in WA, this home is a great way to while away the day! Thank you again, we truly appreciate this review. Sande and Peter

This most recent stay was the second time my family and we have enjoyed this most comfortable home. Very modern, clean and inviting. From window boxes with pretty flowers to nicely appointed furniture to a fully equipped kitchen. If you are new to "the island" this home is about in the middle of Whidebey making trips to all of the sights and sounds very convenient. A cup of your favorite morning beverage and the wonderful view of the Olympic Mountains can get your day off to a great start. The owners take great pride in the home and they are most accommodating! We are most thankful to have "discovered" this property.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are the thankful ones! It has been a wild ride getting here, but people like you make the journey worth the while. You will always be welcome - to enjoy a warm home and whatever comfortrs we are able to provide, while you visit your "two most favorite things about Coupeville!"
