Hello! I purchased my Desert Hills VI townhome in May 2011 (my future retirement home!). It’s in a very quiet, peaceful, and clean neighborhood that is safe with friendly neighbors. My townhome is on a corner - with a street on one side and a cul de sac on the other and mountain views on 2 sides. The view to the south is truly SPECTACULAR and one you won’t want to take your eyes off of while having breakfast or sipping evening cocktails!
My townhome has 2050 sq ft with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large living room with a gas beehive fireplace, dining room, breakfast nook, and a den. The master bathroom has 2 sinks, and a huge walk-in closet. The second bathroom has a tub/shower. The second bedroom has a private patio. Both bedrooms have queen size beds with memory foam, ceiling fans with overhead lights, dressers, and chairs. The master bedroom, living room, and dining room allow you to walk out to a huge covered patio. There’s also a covered patio off the breakfast nook where you can sit and watch the sun rise over the mountains.
My townhome is fully furnished with lots of dishes, baking/cookware, with the usual appliances including washer/dryer, dishwasher, stove, microwave, TV’s (one is a new 42in), DVD, VCR, linens/bedding, new towels, etc. The kitchen has lots of cabinets and counters and opens to a breakfast nook, which has a sliding glass door to the eastside patio.
There’s a couch in the den as well as in the living room, both long enough for tall people to sleep on if need be! All of the living room furniture was purchased in May 2011. There are lots of books in the den if you need something to read, and I've also started a DVD and VHS movie library. There are also a couple of 1000 piece Muppet puzzles, a CD player (bring your CD's), and a deck a cards if you need something else to do.
There’s a 2 car garage (although one side will be occupied) with a fabulous enamel floor and lots of storage cabinets and 'tinkering' work surfaces. There's a gas grill available for your use.
Cable services include basic/expanded channels only; internet service is available but at the lowest speed (as an IT professional, this has been sufficient for everything I do). There's also a wireless router available. No changes will be allowed. Renters will use their own cell phone; this unit does not include a phone.
Green Valley is an age restricted community. One guest must be 55 or older. Rental includes all utilities, cable, and internet. Membership access to the community’s 12 recreation centers is optional and at the renter's expense (it's pretty cheap!). Guest members will have access to pools, hot tubs, fitness centers, racquetball/tennis courts, bocce ball courts, arts and crafts (wood working, jewelry making, sewing, etc), lots of classes, specialized clubs, and social events.
Green Valley has over 300 days of sunshine every year with an annual average daytime temperature of 80 degrees and nighttime temperature of 50 degrees. Green Valley is located just 20 minutes south of Tucson and 40 minutes north of Mexico. This area offers 9 golf courses (most are public), hundreds of hiking trails (all levels of expertise), observatories, caverns, casinos, museums, theaters, and artist communities as well as the southern Arizona wine country and cultural amenities of Tucson.
No smoking, please, but pets are a possibility!

About the owner: Hi! I love Green Valley and I can't wait to retire there. I still have a few years to go. I have 3 dogs (my kids), I volunteer at the Nebraska Humane Society (best shelter in the country), I just started playing softball in an over-50 league, I spend time with my Dad who is now in assisted living, and I work full time. All of that keeps me pretty busy.
