  Patti: Thank you for an enjoyable week at River Star. The house was cozy and comfortable, the fireplace a wonderful bonus in late November, and we really enjoyed sitting outside around a toasty fire in the fire pit watching the gentle flow of the river. Although very rural and embedded in nature, we periodically kept in touch with the outside world with River Star’s cable TV and WiFi. I was pleased how well technology worked in a house surrounded by mountains. The inch or two of snow on Friday morning provided us with a completely different perspective from which to see the surrounding landscapes. It was beautiful. Although just the two of us were here to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary (and a birthday) River Star had enough room to accommodate at least two more couples and a few kids. We enjoyed it immensely, and we will definitely be back as soon as we can. Jeanette & Jim Nauwens Warwick, NY

  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at River Star. You never really know what a place is like based on the description and pictures but River Star didn't disappoint in any way. Plenty of space inside and out. The deck, hot tub, and outdoor space was just what we were looking for. It was fairly secluded and private with only a few housed on the remote gravel road yet there is easy access to town. It was perfect for our two families. Together we had 6 kids under the age of 7 and four adults. The kids had a blast playing in the creek and river. The river was fairly calm and clear and we were able to have some pretty good luck fishing over the weekend. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to cook on the gas grill a few times. River Star is a great way to get away and fulfill your desire for the great outdoors without having to go without any of the comforts of home.

  Family neighborhood setting with private backyard, deck and hot tub. Near conveniences too. Beautiful setting and roomy house layout. All the conveniences of home.

  This property is great for kids and adults. Lots of room inside and out to play and enjoyed the fire pit the most. no a/c but a great breeze off the river. i would rent this property again.

  We have stayed at the River Star for several years, first when it was owned by its previous owners, and now with the Reckarts. It is one of two places in the world where we can truly relax (the other is a house in Key Largo, FL). The River Star is well equipped, and the view from the windows and deck is beautiful. Our visit was to celebrate our 20th wedding annivesary, and we can truly say that it was one of the BESTand most relaxing vacations we have ever had.

  River Star was definitely more than we expected. The house was fantastic, very neat & clean, and beautiful setting to match along the Cheat River. We spent hours floating & swimming off the heat. The hot tub a great bonus too (you didnt advertise that!) To give you a little history about this gathering......... DEAPend Weekend (pronounced deep) started with my cousins & I camping out after school back in 1986 when we were 12 years old. Once we all completed school we decided to rename the campout to DEAPend Weekend ('DEAP' is the first letter of our 1st names). We have done many things over the years to accommodate this special time for us, and River Star was definitely DEAPend worthy for our 27th annual retreat! We hope you enjoy the shirt.   This has got to be the best place we have ever rented. There is nothing you need that they do not provide.My daughter, son-in-law and two grandboys, myself and husband had such a wonderful time. Just sitting on the deck or floating on the river, taking time to fish or maybe take a dip in the river,even the scenery alone is worth it. Went into town twice only 10 minutes away, Scotty's restaurant is the best for breakfast and you have your pick for dinner. What a wonderful place to just relax and take a breather. We will be back for sure.

  Stayed here in September after we got married up in Snowshoe....lots of things to do!!!! Fishing at night with the tree lights that light up the shore with a bonfire that stayed lit all hours of the day....we rode the river raft downstream catching some sun and a snooze....we swam in the river, caught smallmouth bass. We loved grilling dinner outside on the porch every night listening to the peaceful water moving down the mountain. There is a great hot tub on the deck to sweat out all your stress before bed. Hang out inside with TWO fireplaces, Two flat screen TVs during rainy weather. Full kitchen to make drinks and big meals. Kitchen had everything we needed. Eat out at The River Car for Great steaks and seafood, drinks on the river, and just to get out one night away from the house. Owners are awesome giving us everything we needed, place was super clean, upgraded appliances, and just a home away from home for sure. We want to come back in the spring if the place isn't booked already! The trout will be everywhere! If you want a camping scene without having to rough it too much, this is your spot. Easy to get to for us Delawareans, about 5.5 hours. Price is right and it's a very affordable vacation in these economic times. Owners also have a garage full of river toys to play with on the water. Bring your river shoes cause you walk a lot on rock and your feet are always wet from fishing/swimming. We also hiked through a couple state parks to fish in different areas, the views are amazing!!!

  This house is a wonderful family getaway retreat. The location is amazing - gorgeous river views, space to play, and a campfire. The home is well furnished and clean. Our family enjoyed every minute. We will be back!

  This rental was just as described. Very enjoyable experience. Very beautiful environment. I would recommend this rental to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean, friendly environment, for a country getaway. I look forward to renting this unit again.
