We contacted the owner of this property for a last minute rental for family members arriving from out-of-state. The home was perfect and provided an opportunity for all our children and grandchildren to stay together for the first time in many years. Owner went out of his way to make their stay enjoyable. Definitely would consider this home for future visits.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Jane - Glad the house was perfect for your family and glad I could help. Keep us in mind for future family visits. Jon

My friends and I stayed for a long weekend, and the house was perfect for us! The kitchen is wonderful and newly updated, and there was plenty of room for all of us to spread out. The owners were wonderful, and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed! House was incredibly well maintained, very clean, the listing photos didn't do this place justice! We explored nearby Jamestown and Newport- both of which are close and easy to access, but you will need a car. We did the Cliff Walk in Newport, walked around the mansions and town of Newport, and did some hiking. I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing, but active weekend away!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway.
Owner response: Laura - Glad you enjoyed your stay. We love the new kitchen/dining area too! Come back again and enjoy all that Jamestown/Newport has to offer in the summer.

The finished basement was a plus--plenty of room for the kids to entertain themselves. Would not hesitate to recommend/rent the home again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

I was recommended this home from a friend to have a great girls weekend. This home was everything we could have hoped for and much more. The owner was helpful and provided a "Rental Manual" filled with information on things to do around Jamestown. You can relaxing on the deck, take a short walk to the beach, explore the parks on the south end of the island on bikes, and don't miss a sunset picnic at Beavertail Park where you can walk on the rocky cliffs to watch the sailboats or divers. Going into Newport was a very easy 15 minute drive for some great shopping, touring the mansions and fun dining. We all can't wait to go back next summer and do it again.! Thank you!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We enjoyed our stay at this great house in Jamestown. Jamestown is a beautiful, tranquil and undisturbed island between Narragansett and Newport. Great activities for kids and adults alike, from spending warm days at nearby Sunset Beach or Mackerel Cove town beach, or exploring Beavertail and Wetherill State Parks. A short drive into town was fun for dinner and drinks and great music and dancing at the Narragansett Cafe on Friday and Saturday nights. The local food was great whether cooking our own lobsters or grilling steaks, getting fresh bread and pastries from Hearth Bakery, or visiting Simpatico’s in town. The house is probably nicer than as shown in the photos, and there is a nice back yard with sunset views over the water. The kitchen and living dining area is inviting and great for relaxing with family and friends – and the kids can have their own space in the large family room downstairs. John was great answering our questions and made us feel welcome. Overall a memorable experience that we would recommend to others.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This two-level house has a very downstairs basement playroom with a door out into the large backyard, which is great for kids to run around in. Upstairs there is a fully updated kitchen, living and dining area which is one space. The kitchen is very well appointed with all of the appliances and utensils you would want. Right outside the dining area is the deck with a propane grill and a covered area that you can use for eating outdoors. There are also 3 bedrooms, which are a bit small but perfectly functional. You have a gorgeous view of the water and the mainland just north of the Jamestown Bridge between the trees from the deck. The house sits on a small street with almost no cars, making the area great for biking and jogging. A small beach is about 10 minutes away by foot.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Nathaniel- I'm glad you enjoyed your time at our home in Jamestown. The large family room downstairs is a great place to relax and unwind. We too are pleased with the kitchen remodel and I'm glad you like the way we have the house set up for a relaxing time for our guests. Jon

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: My wife and I have grown up and been around water all our lives. Having settled in the upstate NY area we enjoy the local lakes but missed the open water. Getting a place on the water in Jamestown is great. Lots to do on the Island and a short hop over the bridge to all the bustle and activity in Newport.
Why the Owner Chose Jamestown:
We love the Jamestown/Newport area. There is great sailing, biking, diving/snorkeling, and beaches. We enjoy the activities and sights of Newport with the more relaxed atmosphere of Jamestown island.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Jamestown & Newport are an incredible area with so much to offer and do. The excitement and activity of Newport is only 10 minutes away over the bridge, while Jamestown offers it’s own quieter charms.
With the sandy community beach and boat ramp a short away you can enjoy swimming or boating within minutes.
This house is on a quiet street with families and kids and has a nice back yard. I saw the potential of the property when we bought it in 2011 and spent the next 10 months going through each room and completely renovating and updating the fixtures and finishes. We love the new kitchen/dining space with its views of the water and easy access to the deck. The large downstairs family room with new bathroom is an added bonus of extra space to relax.
