This property is truly a magical place. It is completely private, with only one other home in the vicinity. Even though it is just an hour from Atlanta, you definately feel like you are 'away'. The cabin is made from 100 year old reclaimed timbers. It is rustic, but provides the coomfort you need to have a great weekend. There is a large outdoor firepit that overlooks the lake and rivers. The scene looks like an Ansel Adams photo. Also, bring your dogs - they will love it!! Feel free to email or call me with any questions.

My husband and I stayed in this awesome cabin for 3 nights. It is now at the top of my Cabins-To-Rent list! A simple, rustic cabin (I loved the woodworking!) that is in an incredible location. As one reviewer mentioned, there is a cabin within 100 yards up the mountain, but we had no concerns about our privacy. If it had been warmer, we would have spent time on the lake in the canoe, but we settled for hiking to the lakefront. We even disturbed a deer during an early morning hike. The sleeping arrangements may not be for everyone. There is not a lot of room to navigate in the "living room" area once the trundle bed is "deployed". And the ladder to the loft may not be very easy for seniors. These are minor critiques for such a character-filled cabin/location. I absolutely loved sitting on the porch at sunrise listening to the babblin' brook. Bring a few chairs and spend some time around the firepit at sunset. We will definitely be back!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.

Very Unique Rustic Cabin

This cabin was very uniquely designed and had a classic backwoods feel to it which me and my husband loved. There's a huge river and about 2 small streams, one with a beaver dam across it only about 12 to 16 yard down the hill from the cabin. The view is very refreshing and the hike threw the grounds was short but exciting for city folks like my husband and I. The only cons were that the windows had no curtains which would not have been an issue if the cabin was secluded but there was another cabin right behind us that sat on a hill, which allowed them to see through our cabin easily. Luckily for us the owner of this cabin didn't seem to be home during our stay. My husband and I used our fleece blankets to make make-shift curtains for privacy. Also the pictures on vrbo are not updated, the sitting posts around the fire pit are not there anymore (this was not a big deal for us but may be to some). The listing says 1 bedroom but the layout of the cabin is actually a studio with a loft, it was pretty hard for my husband and I to sleep comfortably in the full size bed adjacent to the bathroom but there was a king tempurpedic mattress in the loft. Also, the bed wasn't made when we arrived and the dirty hamper was filled with soiled sheets and towels. The owner quickly made up for this by refunding us our cleaning deposit before he even heard a complaint from us. He was very apologetic and accommodating. I would recommend this cabin for small groups that are not coupled...there isn't much bedding but the view and the access to the river and streams make up for it. The surrounding town was very quaint, my husband and I loved the sushi at Okinawa a restaurant in East Elijay which had $1 sushi specials on Tuesdays.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

This was a very cool, smartly-designed cabin in the woods. Two of us stayed there for two nights and spent days hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains and canoeing in the lake outside our door. It was a great getaway spot. Highly recommend.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

Our family of 4 recently stayed at this cabin for 5 days. It was so peaceful and the views can not be beat. Sitting on the porch and just taking it all in was a sunset and rise ritual while we were there. The cabin was perfect for our family and very clean and fitting for the mountain location. The hillside next to the cabin was great entertainment for our two young boys for hours. My husband loved having the lake all to himself for fishing every morning. We will definatly be back next year if we head back to the mountains.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

About the owner: I am an avid traveler and love being outdoors. I enjoy biking, hiking and all types of fishing. My ideal day is spent with my family being active outdoors.
Why the Owner Chose Ellijay:
Ellijay offers a wealth of outdoor opportunities. It is so close and easy to get to, but feels a world away from Atlanta. It is usually about 10 degrees cooler in the mountains than down in the city.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
This cabin is so unique, not only because it is a beautiful antique cabin, but because it offers something that most properties don't: mountain, river and lake views and access. There are many properties that have or even two of those features, but very few that have all three. Also, the fact that we are in the Cohutta wilderness area provides unprecedented access to world class hiking, biking and fishing.
