Hansville house description

Twin Spits Beachfront Retreat On Hood Canal! Heron House and its guest house (the Kingfisher) are sure to delight!
Take a break and book a getaway with us! CALL SOON!
Summer family vacation weeks were full and fun for our guests, with plenty of crab and beach time. Grab your buddies and book some fishing time. Retreat from work!
Come enjoy breathtaking sunsets! Our beach property at the entrance to Hood Canal in Puget Sound is just 20 minutes from the Kingston Ferry. Our end-of-the-road Hansville vacation site has all the amenities for a quiet getaway or a memorable experience for family and friends! Reunions. Retreats. Enjoy the no-bank waterfront access and 270' private pier for fishing and crabbing in season, use the kayaks, rowing dinghys (small fee), to experience great beach and water fun. A sunken beachside fire pit for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows!
This Twin Spits area boasts one of the most walkable beaches in Puget Sound, from the North Spit, to the 100-acre Foulweather Bluff Nature Conservancy Preserve about 1.5 miles to the South, and is a birdwatcher's paradise. Eagles and osprey soar by so close you can see their feathers and hear their wings!
The herons fish right on our beach most mornings,
and ospreys and eagles cause quite a stir as they swoop overhead to spy and dive for fish to eat, sometimes right on the beach.
Always so much to do! Or NOT, and just relax and take in the views! Comfy lounging furniture. A very well-appointed kitchen. Large open space, flat screen TV, DirecTV, wi-fi. Comfortable beds of different sizes. Carport for two cars. Beautiful here in any weather!
Heron House with its guest house, the Kingfisher, is in such a choice location, right at the end of Twin Spits Road! The view of the Olympic mountains is spectacular, especially at sunset! Many other attractions around and nearby, like shopping, and sight-seeing! Quaint Kingston with its Saturday market and music. Port Gamble General Store. Nordic Poulsbo with restaurants, a marina park, antiquing and ice cream shops. Day trips to the Olympic Penninsula and Pacific Ocean ---Port Townsend's historic buildings and the Wooden Boat Festival, Sequim's Lavender Festival, and famous Forks, WA.
Come on out. The fishing season is under way and is usually abundant.
Hope to see you soon to welcome you to this unique and delightful beach property in the great Northwest!

              Car: Necessary

We have such an amazing beach to walk for miles, to find shells and agates, take photographs as you watch the entertaining antics of birds and seals and waves making extraordinary patterns and sounds. Our house is comfortable, well-appointed for your relaxation! Plan for some Family Time or a time-for-two. Or a Girlfriends' Getaway! Or invite some fishin' buddies to hang out with you...and conveniently moor your boat on the float at the end of our private pier. This area has many other points of interest, too.

From here you can explore Nordic-style Poulsbo with restaurants, antiquing, shopping, galleries and museums. And the Olympic Peninsula offers sights for day trips, like the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend, the Lavender Festival in Sequim, taking a day trip to the ocean, or hiking our local Hansville Trail System and more. Museums, golfing, nearby casinos, and the quaint Port Gamble General Store serves particularly great breakfasts (25-min.drive). Point No Point Lighthouse tour. Kingston Farmers' Market on Saturdays. Or simply stay put and RELAX! The eagles and ospreys put on quite a show in all kinds of weather!

Point No Point Casino offers headliner-entertainment, and a variety of eating spots--good food! The casino is about 10 minutes from our door, and makes for some fun times with friends, when you are not beach combing or napping or reading just another chapter of that good book! Our kitchen has EVERYthing you might need for cooking up a storm. Sometimes it is fun to put in a pan of brownies, or get a picnic ready for down by the fire pit. And the stars at night are amazing!

              Owner info

              Year Purchased: 2006

About the owner: We love to be on the beach with our kids, friends, and grandchildren! We sail, too, and have anchored our boat in the bay out front. Summer crabbing has been abundant most summers. THE best Dungeness Crab!!! Such feasts! And eating freshly caught salmon is superb. My husband, Steve, and I have raised our family in this part of the Northwest, exploring and going on adventures by land and boat. We enjoy sharing the beauty of this property with others; we love our times here by ourselves, too...the quiet, the water, the birds, the rhythms of the wind and water. Come see!

              Why the Owner Chose Hansville:
We bought our place in 2006 because of its location, right at the entrance to beautiful Hood Canal, with beaches to walk for miles, and kayaking and boating right from the saltwater beach, and a 270ft private pier. There are several buildings on the property---Heron House is the larger of two rental dwellings (the Kingfisher is smaller yet has access to the same beaches and boats)---and the view to the west with the snow-capped mountains, the birds soaring, the sunsets...well, these things are good food-for-the-soul for us. We do not take any of this beauty for granted, for sure. You'll see for yourself when you come for a stay.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our family has 'eyes for agates!' Grandpa taught us all how to see them among the other rocks, especially when the sun is at a slant, and the agates just glow as you scan the beach at your feet. And we have sand dollars galore! The 270 ft private pier affords us many hours of fun, fishing and crabbing (in season) and watching the jelly fish travel on their way. Having the pier, and being on the beach, are unique features that we enjoy out here. The neighbors are friendly and respectful. Oh, and sometimes at night you can hear the mama seals with their pups out on our float in the spring. Amazing! And if you want city-life, there are towns nearby for touring and shopping and eating and movies. Come on out and see for yourself! We'll have the house sparkling clean and ready for you! :)
