We loved our four day stay in this cottage. It is very comfortable, private, surrounded by beauty, and a short drive to the attractions in the area. We have already told several friends about the place, and it would not surprise me if we were to return someday for longer. Mike and Vika are very welcoming and accomodating. The property is very much as described, it looks the way it is pictured, the house was clean. We loved the geckos and the birds.

What a lovely place to spend the last few days of our Kona vacation! We truly hated to leave. Mike and Vika were the kind of hosts you hope for. From the fresh fruit awaiting us to their willingness to share their home and knowledge of the area, we learned a lot, rested, enjoyed the quiet and the view (even if it was cloudy). It is wonderful place to be centrally located but far from the crowds. Thanks, Mike and Vika!

This was our first trip to the "Big Island". Michael and Viktoriya were so helpful with snorkling, kayaking, turtle viewing, restaurant ideas, where the live music was and sight seeing ideas.. We loved our secluded, quiet, clean cottage and enjoyed the fresh fruit, (Fav was dragonfruit.) Plus home grown Kona coffee. The garden and landscaping were beautiful. particularly the varieties of Hibiscus.. we enjoyed feeding Lulu the calf every morning and were entranced by the gekkos on the screens at night catching their dinner. We'll be telling our friends about this little slice of paradise..Mahalo!!!

The beauty and privacy of this little slice of paradise cannot be matched. Small touches like the frest fruit upon arrival, delicious Kona coffe, and farm fresh eggs, made us feel like we were in our own little world. Location is fantastic. 10 minutes to 2 Steps (next to City of Refuge) and you'll be snorkeling and swimming with the dolhphins. 20 minutes or so to downtown Kona (where you'll find all the touristy things). We covered most of the island on this trip, but enjoyed the cool breezes, wildlife and beautiful views the most right here. Check out the farmers market behind the Choicemart in Captain Cook on Sunday's for locals selling there wares. Don't miss the "Cocunut Crack". (roasted cocunut) Choicemart has everything you need at reasonable prices and it's only 2 miles away. We tried to shop local and eat as many local ingredients as we could find. There are plenty of restaurants within 10 miles or so. I have to admit, we only went out to eat a couple times. Korner Pocket is a nice bar/grill with lots of great menu choices. Coffee Shack is also great for breakfast or lunch. We can't wait to return to soak up more of those island breezes! The cottage is well appointed and just as advertised. Thanks so much to Mike and Vika for being wonderful hosts!

Location, location, location!! Just a ten minute drive to fabulous kayaking (with spinner dolphins!) and snorkelling and historic park, a 45 minute drive to great beaches north of Kailua and 2 hours to Volcanoes National Park and Mauna Kea for star gazing. What tops the location, though, are Vika and Mike, the hosts. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home. The "very local" coffee and fresh fruits were delicious, the cottage was very comfortable, clean and well-maintained, and Mike and Vika could not have been more gracious and helpful. We would unreservedly recommend this location for a holidaying couple.

We were at the Honeymoon Cottage for seven days and would have stayed for our entire two-and-a-half week visit on the big island if we knew how wonderful the place is when we were making our reservations. This was our first visit to the big island. The description of the amenities is accurate and the photos reflect the tasteful and peaceful ambience of the cottage, which is very comfortable for two people. The owners maintain the cottage exceedingly well, and their warm and generous hospitality makes you feel very comfortable and welcomed. We love the lanai and had many wonderful dinners cooked on the super nice barbecue at the cottage, while enjoying the view of the ocean. The owners provided beach and snorkeling gear, which made it very convenient for us to enjoy the ocean. In particular, the location of the cottage is also convenient to enjoy Kealakekua Bay and Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historic Park (Place of Refuge). After a few trips on the island's roads, the narrow, winding, and sometimes steep roads became second nature in getting around. The property is a working farm and the owners generously shared the bounty of their harvests with us, making us feel like old time neighbors. We stayed at a condominium during part of our stay and our preference is to be at a cottage in a quiet and peaceful setting. Because of the owners' wonderful hospitality and their knowledge and experience in creating a wonderful guest cottage, we would return to this place in a heartbeat and recommend it to our family and friends.

My husband and stayed at Hardrock Gardens for our honeymoon, and I can't say enough good things about how wonderful our experience was. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Mike and Vika, they are both truly filled with the spirit of Aloha, and are two of the nicest people we met during our trip. This was our very first trip to Hawaii, and we cannot wait to go back again to see them. They were very accommodating and helpful, and provided us with their own fresh roasted coffee and fresh eggs from their farm, so delicious! Chickens came to visit for breakfast, birds singing outside, in the morning, all was very peaceful and totally private. They both welcomed us into their home to visit with them and their doggies on our first morning with open arms. They are both very hard working people and put a lot of love and positive energy into their rental house, you could tell right away this was a special place to stay. Everything you could possibly need was provided, beach chairs, cooler, snorkeling gear, tips on where to visit, hammock on the lanai, brand new bbq, fully equipped kitchen, it's all good. They also provided restaurant suggestions, information about the history of the area, suggested day trips, seriously I can't say anything bad about our stay there. They even suggested a hotel for our last two nights on the beach, which we also totally loved! Don't miss a trip to Volcano National Park if you are on the big island, it's worth the trip (thanks for the suggestion on that too!) I really wish we could have stayed longer. Mahalo again for everything, Mike and Vika, we will definitely see you next time! Aloha!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was clean and well supplied. The hosts were very attentive and friendly. The cottage was just the right size for the two of us. We enjoyed being able to make our breakfast (and enjoyed the supplied coffee from their farm), make a lunch to take with us in a cooler they had supplied, and the ability to use the patio with a barbeque. We enjoyed talking with both Mike and Vika and we learned a lot about farming in Hawaii. Their recommendations for food and dining were very helpful and good choices. The view from the cottage toward the ocean was excellent. Because the cottage was below the highway, it was very peaceful and private. We would heartily recommend this property to other couples.

We were thrilled with our stay at the 'honeymoon cottage above the bay'. The cottage is amazing. It is beautifully decorated in a Japanese style that is perfectly suited to the surroundings. The setting is very peaceful but it is close to some spectacular beaches, phenomenal snorkeling and a few very fine restaurants and shops. The great hosts, Mike and Viktoriya, make this the perfect place to stay on the Kona Coast. Highly recommended!

We spent 9 days here, staring out at the ocean from the open kitchen. Incredibly beautiful flowers and acres of Kona coffee beans. Rustic, very UN-Hawaiian like. We saw wild pigs and geckos, ate fresh eggs, papaya, and bananas grown on the farm. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Snorkeling every day, but volcanic, so bring reef shoes. We would return in a heartbeat. Eat at the Coffee Shack, and have something on their Hula Bread. Rustic road into the property, but unforgetable. Rental car a must. Not safe for kids, and little to do for teenagers; very romantic for couples.
