Playing in the snow on your mind?? How about a snow machine hub for you and your friends?!?! Jump on your machine and ride out to Sleeping Lady, the Yetna River and beyond from our place! The extensive trail system near Point Mackenzie is all within minutes of our place!! Teach the kids to safely ride on the lake powder as you drop ice fishing lines for a trout dinner! Tired after a long ride? Take a relaxing break in our lake side sauna while the kids play on our sledding hill or stoke up a toasty fire in our firepit! Coordinate your stay with the Knik 200 Sled Dog Race or Jr. Iditerod Sled Dog Race and watch the start and/or finish from our deck! Enjoy a campfire as you watch the Knik Lake Vintage Snow Machine Race. Also exciting is the Iditerod Trail Invitational, which is a human powered ultra marathon on the historic Iditarod Trail. The two distances are 350 miles to McGrath or 1000 miles to Nome. Competitors from all over the world compete by bicycle, foot or ski with the race start on our lake! Winter is a time to play in Alaska!
Now is your time to truly experience Alaska from our mountain facing lakefront home. Located within few minutes drive from numerous prime salmon and rainbow fishing holes, you will need an extra photo memory card to capture shots of all the fish you land! Primer salmon fishing at the Little Su River is less than 10 minutes away and Fish Creek is within 2 minutes from our place! Wade the rivers or take our kayak out onto the lake, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better location for the die-hard fisherman!
Not here for the fishing? Guests may also simply relax and savor the lakefront mountain view from the open deck. No noisy jet ski's on our lake! Knik Lake is one of the few local non-motorized lakes which equals unbeatable serenity not to mention safety for swimmers and kayak paddlers. During your stay, enjoy a scenic five minute drive to the 18-hole Settler's Bay Golf Course and fine dining at the Settlers Bay Lodge or take a five minute walk to the local Knik Lake Bar which features food, beverages, local entertainment and pool tables. Complete the day with an evening campfire or fully take in the endless summer sun with a midnight game of volleyball from our sand court! Experience the true Alaska as you enjoy our lakeside rustic sauna while you listen to the loons coo love songs in summer or the priceless call of the Iditerod sled dogs as you watch the northern aurora borealis in winter. Coordinate your summer visit with the Alaska State Triathalon and watch the start, the lake swim and finish from our dock!
We offer a fully furnished kitchen, new furniture and new linens. All dishes, utensils & glassware included. We cater especially to outdoor enthusiasts and families with small children, providing a small row boat, kayak, lake floatation, huge lawn and sand play area with volleyball system onsite.
The lodge is 2,652 square feet allocated between two levels with a king bedroom suite with an additional twin sofa sleeper couch, a bathroom, rec / laundry area on lower level. Main level includes a full bathroom, formal dining area, huge living room with a gas fireplace and 42' flat screen TV and fully furnished kitchen. Main level bedrooms include one queen suite and one youth suite with two bunk beds (four twin beds total). The home affords wireless internet, local phone service and cable. This is a great location and very luxurious accommodations. There's so much space. We can't wait to come back in the summer time. Thanks for everything. -Mr. & Mrs. FosterOwner response: Thank you for picking our place as your winter escape! We look forward to hosting you again. The tranquility of the lake in summer is amazing. There is nothing like sitting on the deck listening the loons coo under the midnight sun or watching an eagle scoop up trout from the lake. Alaska in all of its glory! God bless, ~Darrell and Charity

We just returned from a weekend of ice fishing, skiing, and snowmachining. Although there wasn't much snow, we still had fun exploring the lake and surrounding area. And we even caught a fish! A highlight for the kids :) Adults enjoyed walking to the local bar and playing pool at night and we all enjoyed family meals and relaxing in the home. The view from the dining table of the sunrise over the mountains was the perfect place for morning coffee. Even had a young moose pass by the giant windows one morning. The kids really loved the bunkbed room and the place was big enough that 2 families with 4 adults and 5 children total, had plenty of room. Each family even had their own bathroom! The property was very clean and well maintained. We hope to return for another winter trip or even during the summer for some water fun! Thanks!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, tourists without a car, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank you for choosing our place Kelly! I can't believe the minimal snow we have had this year, this is ALASKA afterall! I am happy you were able to enjoy the lake activites and quality family time. We look forward to your next visit! God bless, Charity

What a beautiful house! The pictures really don't do it justice...what a nice place to stay! The master bedroom is really comfy and we put our daughter's pack~n~play in the closet and felt like she was in another room entirely, what a HUGE closet! It was a great location to get on the sleds and ride on various trails or just pull the kiddos in the caboose! We had a great Christmas in Wasilla and we would stay there again next time we are in the area and need a place! =) The owners were very helpful, the roads were plowed the exterior lights were on and ready for us...they were curteous and prompt!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Joy- I am so happy you and your family were able to have such a fantastic time at our place! The motorized and nonmotorized sledding is one of our favorite pass times at the cabin too! May your New Year be full of blessings and we would love to have you at our place in the future. I am sure many future guests will also appreciate your XL coffee pot gift. = ) Sincerely, The Massie's

The pictures on site are wonderful but they do not match the actual beauty of the place in person! It was truly a dream in real life! The property was clean and comfortable. It was like walking into my own home. The owners were more than helpful in answering questions we had about anything that came up. There is a reindeer farm about an hour away in Palmer, AK. The Matanuska Glacier (1 of 5 that is open to the public to walk on) just east of Palmer. Independence Mine is not far from either. Where else can you pull over to the side of the road and pick wild blueberries?! Definitely recommend this property to anyone.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: I am so happy I was able to contribute towards you having such an amazing Alaska vacation! I bet you will never eat a blueberry pancake without memories of your time here. God bless! ~Charity

The VRBO pictures do justice to this place, but you have to experience it to really see what it has to offer. Great views, wildlife, fantastic house plan, amenities, fishing, with an added bonus of wild raspberries nearby! It definitely is worth a revisit in the future. The owners have done a great job in getting this place ready for anyone wanting all the creature comforts of home, but with the outdoor experience of Alaska. Thanks!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: We truly enjoyed having you at our place and hope your future travels find you in Alaska again! It sounds like you and your family made memories of a lifetime! Thank you for choosing our place! God bless, ~Charity

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2001
About the owner: Raised in Alaska I worked in the tourist industry to help pay for college. It was there that I learned the joy of sharing Alaska with travelers! Let my husband and I help you develop a love for this great place as much as we do!
Why the Owner Chose Wasilla:
This is our vacation house as well! We gear up our three kids and ride snow machines out for winter weekends or drive out and spend the day playing in the lake during the summer. We take exceptional pride in how we clean, furnish and care for our place because it is our favorite vacation spot too!
Knik Lake offers numerous recreational activities including the start and/or finish of the Knik 200, the start, lake swim and finish of the State Triathlon and is one of the few non-motorized local lakes. The full Iditerod also runs past the lake after the Wasilla restart. The lake is fed by a fresh water spring that runs along our property line! The trout frequently convene around our floating docks feeding from the spring. Knik Lake is a trout stocked lake and is a local favorite for summer and winter fishing and paddling.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love to walk down to Knik Bar and enjoy Friday night steak night. The steak, potato, salad and drinks are inexpensive, but the rustic charm is priceless. Local flare is what makes this a frequent hang-out with the locals. Also within walking distance is the quaint Knik Historical Museum.
