Pelican Sound -Paradise Regained at Palmetto Dunes
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
Well, maybe it's not really Paradise, but it's darn close and it's hard to imagine a nicer place for mature people to while away the hours on a dream vacation. Located on the third tee of the Sound Golf Course, one of the three 9 hole courses available in Pelican Sound, this unit has 1756 square feet under air, and more importantly, it's on the first floor. There are no stairs to climb; just park the car in the two car garage and walk right into a beautifully furnished carriage home. Or you could enter through the front door into a foyer with an Italian crystal chandelier and a floor inlaid with marble tiles. Our well maintained home features two bedrooms and two baths plus an office with a convertible sofa. Granite countertops shine in the fully equipped kitchen and both baths. Not your typical vacation rental, you'll find Tommy Bahama or equivalent furniture through the property along with many one of a kind wall hangings. There's no need to squint into the sunset here, either, as the lanai faces NE, so it's bright in the morning and cool in the evening. From your spacious and comfortable lanai, you'll look out over the tee box to a good sized lake and then on to the fairway of an adjoining hole.
The MBR has a kingsized bed, while two twins grace the guest bedroom. The office has a large desk, plus a flat screen TV with DVD capability. High Speed Internet with Wi-Fi capability is included. The master bath has a commodious walk in shower, no need to step into a bathtub, but if you'd like to soak away the 18 holes you just played, there's a tub in the second bathroom.
A glass topped table seating four sits under the crystal chandelier in the dining area. The family room cabinet conceals the TV and DVD player, while a large leather sectional sofa with ottoman beckons you to kick back and relax. The home contains all you'll need for a most comfortable stay, but the surrounding community will surely draw you out. There are 27 holes of golf, 6 Har-Tru lighted tennis courts, an excercise center, walking paths, and swimming pools including one just a short walk away. At that pool you'll find gas barbeques and a hot tub, too.
Plus, there is a free community shuttle boat which will take you through mangroves down the peaceful Estero River to Estero Bay and then on to the beaches at Lover's Key State park on the Gulf of Mexico. Thus, there's no need to search for a parking space at the beach. The recently updated clubhouse houses the dining room, a bar, and the golf pro shop. More relaxed dining is available at the River Club, an ideal location to view televised sporting events or to slip over to the well equipped exercise room or main swimming pool which are mere steps away. In addition kayaks and canoes are available gratis should you want to paddle away on the gentle Estero River.
Pelican Sound sits between Route 41 and Estero Bay, just east of the Gulf of Mexico and Ft. Myers Beach. The brand new Coconut Point Mall is within a mile or so, and Miramar Outlet Mall and Gulf Cost Town Center are just a bit further up the road. SW Florida Airport is just 15 minutes away. Great dining abounds in the many restaurants in the area, even more are available in close by Naples and Ft. Myers. Estero is about half way between the famous attractions of those two towns.
So, whether you choose to be active or just plain lazy, Pelican Sound has it all. That choice is yours, but we would love to welcome you to our little piece of almost Paradise.

We have just spent the whole of January 2012 in this wonderful property and we really didn't want to leave! It is even more elegant and comfortable than it appears in the photographs and the owners have taken endless thought and care to provide the highest quality furnishings, equipment and household goods, making it a really luxurious 'home away from home'. Everything was immaculate, there was nothing that we needed that wasn't provided, and it was all provided in such a charming manner. The property has a lovely, airy, spacious feel to it, due to the way it has been furnished and the owners' taste. The location is delightful too, overlooking the 3rd tee on the Sound Course and just a minute's walk from one of the lovely community swimming pools.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, people with disabilities.

We stayed in this carriage home several years ago and found it to be extremely comfortable, well maintained, and elegantly furnished. The kitchen had everything we required, not that cooking was high on our list of things to do, as nearby restaurants offer excellent variety and quality. But we did enjoy grilling steaks at the pool just a short walk down the street. A ground floor unit on a quiet street overlooking the golf course, we liked that the master bedroom suite was separated from the other two bedrooms. A delightful, screened patio overlooking the 3rd tee of one of Pelican Sound’s golf courses is large enough for outdoor dining for four and peaceful lounging on most comfortable furniture. And since the patio faces north, the temperature of this shady nook remains pleasant throughout the day. The large master bedroom, also overlooking the golf course, offers plenty of closet space in a dressing area enroute to an over-sized master bathroom. The second bedroom faces a quiet, landscaped courtyard that overlooks the street and is perfectly situated near a full bathroom. While the third bedroom is presently configured as an office, its furnishings include a comfortable sofa bed. It, too, is steps away from the full bathroom. A washer/dryer room just off the two-car garage makes it easy for long stays, and it is situated so that its use doesn’t disturb the main living areas of the house. Ample counterspace and new appliances make this home appealing to anyone with a serious interest in cooking in a well-equipped kitchen. Pelican Sound offers three, manicured, 9-hole courses, a beautiful clubhouse, and a restaurant that serves well-prepared, creative meals overlooking the largest pool. A unique feature of this community is a private, covered, pontoon boat that takes residents 7-1/2 miles through twisting mangroves and amazing bird-watching opportunities to one of Fort Meyer’s desirable beaches on the Gulf. Outside Pelican Sound there are many shops, restaurants and available activities within easy driving distances. And Fort Meyers and Naples are close enough so that even rainy days can be filled with wonderful events and destinations. My wife and I stayed at this wonderful residence for two weeks, and found it to be the easiest place to settle into of any we have previously rented. We look forward to a month-long stay in the very near future and know that it will feel like coming home. Simply a great experience!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

We stayed in this immaculately maintained, beautifully furnished home several years ago. It had every amenity we needed and was perfectly situated for shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. The addition of granite makes it even more enticing for us, We hope to return in the near future.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

Year Purchased: 2001
Why the Owner Chose Palmetto Dunes:
This is just a great area year round. There's no denying it gets hot in the summer, but the breezes off the Gulf make it quite tolerable unlike places further inland. Add to that empty golf courses and empty restaurants with half price deals and suddenly, SW Florida is a good place to be twelve months of the year.
