If you fill the feeders, hummingbirds will come.

Just ten minutes from most popular area attractions, yet nestled in close to Pisgah National Forest. One level living, no stairs at entry, paved access - easy no fuss vacation for older folks. Five beds make this a great spot for 'Girl Get-away' weekends and companions needing separate beds. Come enjoy!

Why the Owner Chose Blowing Rock
There is so much to do here! Great cultural events from ASU including lectures, chamber music, and wonderful performing arts. Pisgah National Forest practically surrounds us, and the Appalachians offer ever-changing views in every season. The New River flows North (bizarre) for fun tubing, fishing, or kayak adventures and the air is clean and cool. We love the peace and serenity and small town kindnesses. Did I mention great food? No chain stores? Lush wilderness?
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
'On the Rocks' is just around the corner from Julian Price Park which offers weekend Ranger programs, $10 an hour canoe rentals on the lake, the best loop trail in the Blue Ridge, giant boulders in the river for picnicking, wild swimming holes with mini waterfalls, and convenient tables and grills next to a bold creek for wading and catching crawdads. Grandfather Mountain is just south via scenic bi-way, and Tweetsie RR is only 10 miles away. Moses Cone Craft center with over 30 miles of walking and equestrian trails is 3 minutes away, and world class Westglow Spa is just 1 mile away!

Hidden trail head takes you up to Blue Ridge Parkway, Daniel Boone Scout Trail, Nuwati Trail, Tanawa Trail, and Story Teller Rock. Few visitors find this!
2.5 miles. Delightful! Crosses several creeks, wanders thru a pasture w/ apple trees worthy of the Sound of Music, steep descent on the back end. Loop trail. Moderate.
Beautiful scenic drive. Very curvy. Likely to see wild turkeys, deer, cattle. Ends at popular local swimming hole with large rocks for sunning. Excellent dining at The Gamekeeper $$$ unique restau
Great short hike to watch kids bouldering (or take your pad and join in.) Also the start of the China Creek Mtn. Bike Trail. Very challenging!
Art demonstrations, miles of excellent equestrian / walking trails, area crafts, Ranger tours.
One the great social spots. Dog and stroller friendly, flat, pea gravel. Likely to see horses. Fishing possible. Bathrooms. 0.9 mile loop with excellent offshoots for longer walks.
3 Waterfalls along 1.1 mile trail. Downhill the whole way, which means...uphill coming back. :) Right downtown and easily missed.
