Located among the rollings hills and active farms among the Amish and Yankee communities of Burton, Parkman and Middlefield, The Farm House is a cozy retreat, ideal for a relaxed country vacation for couples or small groups of friends and family. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs with the full bathroom and one bedroom and the half bath on the ground floor.
You can watch the Amish farmer cultivate his crops from the kitchen window, or if you are lucky you may see a doe and fawns approach the lake as you step out of the shower. The books and cable TV, DVDs and Videos, Internet and jigsaw puzzles, popcorn and the fireplace can turn rain and snow into a pleasant backdrop.
Bring your camera and binoculars and fishing pole. You can see birds from cardinals to wild canaries, and the lake was dredged and restocked a couple of years ago.
Our Amish care taker grew up in The Farm House before it became a vacation rental. You can hike past the lake, through the woods and down the dirt road to his home if you like or even watch the milking at the dairy farm nearby.
Keywords: The Farm House, Parkman, Ohio is a step back in time - with modern conveniences - on 100 acres of rolling hills, fields, woodlands and lake. Enjoy fireplace or the swing on the enclosed sunporch and listen to the clip clop of Amish buggy horses passing by.

Just fabulous! Warm, inviting home with everything one could need. Lovely, enormous property with a lot of trees, lake, paths, and even fireflies at night in summer. So relaxing to unplug all the electronics for a while. No grocery store for several miles, so stop before you get there. The nearby cheese factory and small farmer's markets can't be beat. We've stayed at a lot of privately owned rentals and we give this one a 5-Star recommendation.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

It's rare to find a place to rent that feels so much like home. The Farm House delivers that comfortable feeling, offers everything advertised and more. This beautifully appointed, renovated 19th century home is set on a stunning 100 acres in the countryside. We came for an annual "mancation" for two 50+ plus friends and their grown sons. The Farm House feels like you're stepping right into someone's home. The kitchen, panty and fridge had everything we needed to turn our groceries into wonderful meals. Both of us love to cook and brought our favorites to prepare. We were saved more than once by the extensive pantry. The cupboards are filled with vintage serving trays, plates, pitchers and anything else you could think of which made meals even more special. We were impressed how clean and roomy the house was and loved eating on the enclosed front porch watching the Amish come back and forth. The local Amish caretakers were friendly, helpful and hardworking. They were available if we needed them and stopped over twice during our five days to be sure we were happy. I'm not sure I've ever seen cuter kids than the ones that followed mom across the street to The Farm House for a short visit. One barefoot little blond girl couldn't contain her smile as she headed back home with the rest of the family. It was one of those little moments we'll always remember from our stay. For fishermen, the three acre lake is a dream. Largemouth averaged about 1.5 pounds with some exceeding two and they were hungry. The big fat bluegills fought hard and were huge. We were successful with rubber worms and nightcrawlers with bobbers for both species. One of the best parts of the stay was exploring the woods. The extensive trail system is easy to navigate and filled with flora and fauna. Town is only 10 minutes away if you want a restaurant meal, groceries or a little sightseeing, ect. If you have trouble with stairs, you could stay in the first floor bedroom. Even though the old stairs have been completely refurbished, they retain a steep angle often seen in houses of this era. None of us had any problem at all with the stairs. This is a place to simply relax. Sitting outside by the fire, watching the moon set and listening to the sounds of the forest made the stress of everyday life melt away. We can't wait to comeback and hope to bring our wives in the fall for a long couples weekend.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

Three of us needed a comfortable place for a casual business retreat. The home was clean and the bedrooms spacious. The one full bath was very large and we had no problem taking turns for the shower or tub. There is a calmness to the area and the sound and sight of horse drawn Amish carriages reminded us to slow down and find balance in our work and life. We had a nice little hike around the pond and through the tree behind the property. We will return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Absolutely stunning property! We were blessed with staying here on Oct.7-Oct.9 for the always terrific Apple Butter Fest/Ox Roast in Burton. Perfect location out in the country but still minutes from towns, even had pizza delivered from Zeppe's (good eats)! The wonderful sun room at the front of the house is spacious and offers a wonderful view of the Amish as they travel up and down the road in their quaint horse-drawn buggies. Beautiful rich woodwork throughout the home, a roomy but cozy living room with a gorgeous fireplace and piano. The kitchen has everything, and then some, for the home chef like myself. Pots, pans, silverware, cups, glasses, plates, measuring utensils....this home has it all!!!! Large bedrooms with extremely comfortable beds!!! The pond, more like a small lake, offers some incredible fishing! I caught some very nice largemouths and probably some of THE BIGGEST bluegills that I have EVER caught! There were 6 adults and 3 children in our party and we never felt crowded due to the large size of this home! We've been attending the Apple Butter Fest for the past 6 years now and have stayed at Punderson S.P. but will always look for availability for this home from now on and hope that it is available!!!! For the reading folk, plenty of great books to peruse and many many quiet nooks to take them in. Did I mention that this home was also impeccably clean? We didn't even see a single "dust bunny" anywhere within the home! All in all, one of the BEST rental properties that we have ever had the pleasure of staying in and sincerely look forward to revisiting...so much that we are looking at other dates just so we can stay in this little piece of paradise!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

Our church youth group has been traveling to the Farmhouse for our spring retreat for several years now. The first year we went the youth (ages 14-19) were skeptical but after we got there and they began to relax in the homey, warm and comfortable atmosphere they enjoyed every minute. The place is a home away from home with comfortable furnishings, a piano for music, a fireplace for warmth and an extensive movie library for relaxing late into the night. We also enjoyed playing Wii dance for hours! The bath room is huge and inviting. The enclosed front porch is our favorite place to gather-sunshine streams in during the day and at night the breeze softly enters and you can hear the soft clop clop of horses hooves as Amish buggies pass by. It is a great area to walk and enjoy nature. It isn't the "take care of everything" bed and breakfast but it is a wonderful place to escape to and just get away from the business of everyday life. Come to the Farmhouse and be refreshed and renewed.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

The home is big and situated on tons of beautiful land that includes a lake and woods that you can hike through. The home has beautiful woodwork and has a very cozy feel to it. The enclosed front porch is big and beautiful. You can just sit out there and watch the horse drawn buggies go by even in the middle of the night. The Amish community telephone is located at the end of the driveway (the home has its own phone) and is very cool to see. There were even some horses in our backyard. I think you could easily spend a week here and feel like it wasn't enough to fully enjoy the town and the house. The town is about 40 minutes to Cleveland and it's an easy drive, so you can spend a day in the city and come back to the peace of The Farm House. The owner is very nice and easy to do business with. It is a great place and we will come again and again! I suggest if you're going to this area or looking for a retreat spot, you go here. You won't regret it.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1941
About the owner: I love this part of the country in all seasons and so it is a treat to have to come back a couple of times a year to take care of putting things in order and replenishing supplies. These trips make a wonderful change from my exciting work in an urban nonprofit on the west coast.
Why the Owner Chose Cleveland:
I love to share The Farm House with people who enjoy the peace there as much as I do. It has been in our family for 70 years now and we turned it into a vacation rental about 10 years ago.
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
My favorite walk is around the lake, checking out the turtles on the rock to the north, and trying not to startle the blue herons as they feed by the dam. I savor the silence in the woods, broken only by birdsong and the occasional dog bark far in the distance.
