* New internet-connected thermostat means you will arrive to a *warm* house
* New tankless water heater means hot showers are always available. New furnace is quiet and efficient for a totally comfortable stay.
The big open kitchen invites a cooking collaboration and the well stocked cabinets will serve the chefs in the crowd.
The sunken living room has several couches and everyone's favorite, a huge round 'cuddle chair' in the bay window with a view of the surrounding forest. One couch is a queen sleeper and the sectional is very comfortable for an extra bed or two. Sit anywhere and enjoy the giant HD TV over the beautiful stone fireplace.
The adjoining dining room has a big dining table and additional log bar, that combined, seat 12 for that large family dinner. Watch the big game from the log bar with the best view in the house.
Bedrooms:
Master Suite - is like its own retreat with a king bed, private deck, walk-in-closet, computer desk with Wi Fi, TV and bathroom suite with huge spa tub/shower. The Master bedroom also has a huge round 'cuddle chair' in the bay window, a favorite quiet spot for reading that great novel.
Log Room - has a twin trundle bed that can be set up as a king. It has beautiful views of the forest.
Ranch Room - has a four poster queen bed with a memory foam topper, and beautiful views to the forest out back.
Bunk Room - Great for the kids, has a twin over full bunk with a twin trundle underneath. The TV and camp decor make this a favorite hang out.
We keep the kids (and grown ups) busy with the pool table, board games, horse shoes, sledding and of course the big screen TV + 2 TV's in the bedrooms.

We really enjoyed our stay! The house was clean and very comfortable for 4 adults and 4 kids. Super close to Tahoe Donner Ski Resort, hiking, restaurants and grocery stores. The hill in the back of the house was great for hours of sledding and exploring for the kids. I highly recommend this house!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Excellent vacation home. We stayed with two families and three toddlers. The house is perfect for families with kids. We were snowed in for a day, and there were plenty of books and toys to entertain our kids. Once the snow stopped, the backyard, which extends into forested area, was a great play area. We were planning on paying to play in the Donnor Snowplay area, but ended up just sledding in the back yard instead. The listing description is accurate, and the property is clean, well-maintained and comfortable. The owner responded very quickly to email inquiries and concerns. Highly recommend this rental, we would definitely rent here again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

What a house! We couldn't have asked for much more. Even with a large group the house felt spacious, yet still maintains that cozy ski-house feel that warms visitors through the winter months. Tucked up in a quiet neighborhood, just minutes from the highway and the town of Truckee, the location doesn't get much easier. Hot showers, a pool table, and a large living room centered around a fireplace... just give me a glass of red wine or whiskey and I've got a perfect weekend in the snow with friends. Only wish we gotten more snow (we won't hold that against the rental though).Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We just had a great stay for a family Christmas. The weather didn't cooperate, but the house was nice and cozy with plenty of amenities to keep us warm and occupied. The grandparents and kids had a great time and even sledded down the driveway.Recommended for: Families with young children.

Came up here with 5 girlfriends to do a monthly book club which we tied in with a Donner Party book. It couldn't have been a more perfect house and weekend! We are a group that loves to cook; this house was equipped to make our gourmet meals, just like being at home! (shocking) We did an awesome 7 mile hike right out the back door, and within minutes we drove to Donner Lake to visit the museum and check out the sites right there. The beds were MORE THAN comfortable, it was incredibly clean and cute. SO COZY!!! We played board games and I would highly recommend this cabin to families with children. It has a mini pool table that we enjoyed tremendously and decks, chairs, etc. I know that I will be renting it again ASAP!! No detail was left undressed.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I had the pleasure of staying at this great house this summer. We headed to Tahoe with 2 kids for Labor Day. Needless to say, the pool table was a big hit with the kids, as was nearby rec center and beach club. This property was clean, spacious and comfortable; we even had room to spare. We loved the beautiful surroundings and the quiet location. It was truly a wonderful experience and memories were made that I'm sure everyone will remember. Thanks to Dieter for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. I'm certain that we will be back to rent from you again. My sister's and I get away each year for a weekend. This home was the perfect setting for this year. Beautiful area, peaceful setting close enough to Truckee for shopping and to BoomTown or Reno if we wanted to gamble. The furnishings are as described, and very comfortable. There's plenty of room to watch TV, lounge on the deck, play games on the dining room table and beds to sleep in. I loved their Roku with Netflix (we didn't have to use RedBox to rent a movie), Hulu, Pandora, and now plan on purchasing a unit for my home. The owners were very helpful and quick in responding to availability, all questions (and refund of deposit). We didn't take the time to hike or visit Lake Donner, but definitely will on our next trip.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This home was PERFECT! It was stocked with everything we needed and spacious enough for two families. The pool table was a huge hit with the 3 children and it was only 1 mile from Tahoe Donner Ski Hill. The homeowners were very helpful with explanations on everything and they even provided a "Cabin Manuel". Thank you for a wonderful stay at your beautiful home! We plan on going back for a summer vacation.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: We both gravitate to the mountains. My husband grew up in the German Alps, and I lived in the Rockies in Montana We have traveled all over Europe and America and always prefer the countryside, especially the mountains. We have have always vacationed in beautiful places with our large extended family, and we keep coming back to Truckee. We love to ski, hike, ride horses, mountain bike, boat, swim and especially just relax. Tahoe Donner is the best place we have found to enjoy all that we do together.
Why the Owner Chose Tahoe Donner:
We have been visiting the Tahoe area all our lives and kept returning to Tahoe Donner. We frequently rent with another family and love the roomy homes, well planned facillities and easy access to HWY 80 and the surrounding areas.
We enjoy the area year round and especially love all the Tahoe Donner amenities - ski hill and equestrian center just up the road, Rec center with pools, gym and hot tubs, lakeside beach club and so much more.
We wanted a large family friendly house with easy year-round access and lots of parking. We found all that and much more in our new home.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our home is near the top of Tahoe Donner resort and backs up to an open forested preserve. We can hike, bike or cross country ski right out our front or back door and go for miles.
We have room for our whole extended family and/or another family we invite up to share a fun vacation together.
