Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2011
Welcome, from Victor & Diana Randazzo. Owner managers of Peaceful “Serenade Cottage” in shingletown California. We have lived in Shingletown since we built our home in 2005. We moved from Redding to get away from the heat but close enough to the City for work and shopping. We love it up here in the mountains East of Redding. My husband is retired. I am a nurse and work in Redding. I enjoy flower gardening & photography.
Why the Owner Chose Lassen Park
We live in Shingletown. So when we decided to invest in some property we found this lovely little house and decided it would be perfect as a vacation rental for others to be able to come and enjoy the beauty of this area at an affordable price. We take special effort to make this home a welcoming & comfortable place where people can enjoy their vacation & feel at home. Make it your home base a place to make memories.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Easy access paved road, paved drive way, garage. Shingletown Is the “Gateway To Mt Lassen National Park” only 17 minutes away. Shingletown 2 minutes away is a full service community, with everything you need for a picnic or BarBQ for your day trips into Mt. Lassen or any of the many wonderful adventures waiting for you.
I choose the name “Serenade Cottage” because the peacefulness of the tall pines and cedars, when the wind blows gentle through them is sounds like the ocean. And when it snow? It’s an awe inspiring sound of silence that speaks like a serenade to your soul.

We found this to be a paradise. A very real dream home that has all the comforts and more. The owners left all these nice little extra touches that just means 'a class act'. It's no act though, The nice touches like a smores kit was a big hit with the kids in the fire pit down below, (house is on a slope). A nice bottle of wine that didn't last long and wonderful coffee that we hit pretty hard. It really is true here that all you need is some cloths and some groceries. Other little touches like the high quality linens didn't escape our attention. Sheets that felt like blankets. Nice! I was there for an Amateur Radio event and they had no problem with me throwing a wire over a tree. I really enjoyed that. Also brought a telescope and let me tell you something about the night skies. So crystal clear that you can see the Milky Way Galaxy with your bare eyes! Billions. Not only that but they had all these lounge chairs you could sit in and lay back with a pair of binoculars and a glass of the wine and spend hours. And when it get's cold, there is the outside fire place or and indoor wood burning stove. Lots of wood cut and provided. We were in such bliss that it was hard to pull ourselves away from the cabin to explore the surroundings like Mt.Lassen Park. But we did. And even saw a Bear! We also, thanks to our host Diana & Victor, attended an Apple festival in nearby town of Manton. We got the last Apple Pie! The wife said, "But it's got a crack in the crust", to which I replied, "It's a California Pie, that's the fault line". The Pie didn't last the night! We found wonderful local wines there. If you need anything, there is a nearby grocery store called Reeds, that has a deli, (and they serve breakfast). People are very nice in the tiny town. This was suppose to be a once in a life time event. Or at least once here then try somewhere else. But now we are trying to find out how to do this again, and soonest! It was really that wonderful. Hard to come home. We feel like that place was our 'real' home. Okay, enough ozzing. BTW, this is close to some great hang gliding at Hat Creek Rim. And lots of wonderful hiking at Lassen Park. You can fish and canoe there too.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at your lovely cottage. It was a beautiful, secluded getaway, and would highly recommend to anyone. The smores and bottle of wine were a nice, personal touch, and the owners went out of there way to make sure we had everything we need, especially on the day it rained. Thanks!

We stayed here during labor day weekend so we can visit Lassen Volcanoe Park and we had a blast! The house was in a great location to visit the park and local shops and resturants. Staying in the home was better than home. They had stocked the kitchen with everything you can possibly need and then some more. We were welcomed with a smore kit that we used in the fire pit and an array of games, dvds, videos, and equipment at our disposal. My nephew did not want to leave! Overall, we really enjoyed staying here and will definitely be back.
Owner response:Thank you Mina for your review we look forward to helping you with your vacation plan. Victor & Diana
