Midway between the quaint market town of Santo Stefano Belbo and the medieval town of Calosso, the farmhouse is set in an elevated position amongst the beautiful wine hills of the Langhe and Monferrato, with breathtaking views of surrounding countryside. It is at the centre of the most widely acclaimed wine and food region in Italy. The house is in the middle of a Unesco recognized zone, in the process of being listed for it's beauty and the unique coverage of the hills with small vineyards.
The beautiful farmhouse has recently been restored to the highest standard with cotto floors, stone benches and much locally made wooden furniture. Each bedroom has its own balcony (one a large terrazzo) and the whole house faces south to ensure plenty of light and sunshine.
A two story house with 4 bedrooms (3 facing south), a large but cosy lounge room with open fire, and an enormous kitchen/dining/living room.
The house includes a sheltered portico area for outdoor dining and barbecue.
The grounds comprise a paved area around the elevated house (approx 150 sq m) and some 2000 sq m of dolcetto vineyard below. The area surrounding the house is enclosed and ideal for outside eating under the awning and a safe play area for children.
Your morning walk on the narrow , barely used country roads, takes you past some of the most highly regarded vineyards and wineries in Piemonte. These roads wind through an exquisite landscape which extends as far as the eye can see.
Within an easy 10 minute drive of the property you will find charming local restaurants and several osteria which form an important part of the history of the worldwide slow food movement.
The towns of Alba (home of the prized white truffle) and Barolo (premier Italian wine) are within a short drive as well as Bra, the birth place of slow food.
Visits to wonderful local cantinas can be arranged with a phone call and delicious local food purchased at local markets several times a week.
The nearest plublic swimming is 6 kms away at Costigliole d'Asti. There is also a very large public swimming pool in Acqui Terme (also 20 minutes by car).
Other activities include cycling, tennis (in local village) and boules and table tennis on the property.

Maria, Thanks for the opportunity to stay at your beautiful house. On previous trips to Italy we have gone from hotel to hotel across the country, having lots of fun, but quite weary at the end from all the hotel changes. On this occasion we used your house as a base and made smaller trips out and about. It worked really well. Calosso is in the centre of gorgeous area and we found ourselves easily within a day's travel of fantastic towns around about, at the sea and in the mountains. On the days we weren't travelling we were more than content walking around the nearby villages, visiting wineries and just chilling out in your garden. We had the best time. Thanks once again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Maria and John, A few words to thank you for the opportunity to stay at your farmhouse. Your house is beautiful, ( you are to be complemented on the recent restoration ) and the surrounding area is stunning. To wake up each morning and look out across the neighbouring vineyards was quite exhilarating. Invariably we found ourselves tracking around the little country roads, amongst the vineyards, behind your property at some stage during the day, usually first thing in the morning or late in the afternoons. We half expected to come upon a wedding procession with brass band but unfortunately we were out of luck. We were delighted to realise how close we were to the likes Alba, Barolo and Barbaresco. We are fans of Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto wines and we were certainly in the thick of the best. This was terrific. I have to say we fell in love with Santo Stefano Belbo and it was always first stop for coffee’s in the morning. Market day was so much fun. We took your advice and went to La Crotte restaurant in Calosso on a couple of occasions. Sitting outside we were knocked out by the views over the hills of Monferrato. The food was outstanding and the owner Sebastian was hugely entertaining. Thanks guys, we’ll be backDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4
