Antigua house description
The lovely, cozy, two bedroom home is located inside the historical center – two blocks south from the Central Park. It is one of the few rental properties featured inside the historical center which makes it an ideal location in town. Built around the 17th-century walls, it was completely renovated to provide all the amenities for a comfortable stay for visitors. It is THE perfect place to stay in Antigua.
The house has one large living room (wood fireplace, cable TV/wi-fi internet connection), a lovely dining room that seats 8 comfortably, central garden with fountain, downstairs bedroom w/queen bed and jettina bathtub, full kitchen w/refrigerator, & water filter charcoal grill, gas stove, microwave, all utensils, and a laundry room (washer/drver). An upstairs master bedroom is highlighted with a fireplace, queen bed and large bathroom w/bathtub and closet w/ a security box. The views of the volcanoes are spectacular and the terrace provides for your relaxing moments and entertaining (smoking is permitted only on the terrace). The property has a morning-weekday maid for cleaning and laundry and practicing your Spanish!
Owned by Elizabeth Bell, who has lived in Antigua since 1969, she is on call for 24-hours to answer your questions and provide up-to-date information about the city and the cultural activities to attend as well as any maintenance questions. Our guests have loved the location as you may easily walk around town to enjoy the city - a gem that we have created over the last 40 years. Antigua is truly a remarkable place to visit. Near-by activities include touring the historic sites and art galleries, coffee plantation tours, zip-line (canopy) tours, bird watching, golf, spas and visiting the Maya highlands of Guatemala and much more! Choose from relaxing, studying Spanish, going to the local markets and shops to enjoying a vast variety of fine restaurants during your stay. Guests may also enjoy yoga classes and salsa classes just to mention a few! The Maya highlands are just outside of Antigua - day and overnight trips are fun! You may also visit Tikal - also a World Heritage Site with spectacular Maya ruins. We recommend tours and other activities around the city. It is truly an amazing city! Antigua blends the old colonial architecture with our new lifestyle seamlessly.
We are able to arrange for an airport pick-up for you and any other arrangements you may request. We provide maps of the city and the most up-to-date publications upon your arrival to make you feel as home as soon as you arrive.
We look forward to seeing you here - whether you are touring, relaxing, exploring or coming to study Spanish. This charming home will afford you a very comfortable stay.

- Antigua is also well-known for its Spanish schools where foreigners come to learn Spanish. Classes are available for 1 - 8 hours a day. We are happy to recommend a few schools for you. The city is also famous for the colonial atmosphere. Included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site List, Antigua's historical center dates back to its founding in 1543, making it one of the oldest cities in the Spanish New World. Abandoned in 1773 when its inhabitants moved to Guatemala City, Antigua blends the old colonial architecture with our new lifestyle seamlessly. la Navidad in Antigue
la Navidad in Antigue
We stayed here over the Christmas holiday in 2012. The location is excellent, the house is very well maintained, and the owner is helpful and welcoming. The layout provides a lot of privacy for two couples and although only a few blocks from the parque central, the house is quiet. We used the kitchen and found it to be very well equipped with all of the basics and then some. We would highly recommend this house.

Very charming Antigua home
Very charming Antigua home
This house is located in the historic district. It was a pleasure to have tranquil breakfast on the roof top patio with the view Volcan de Agua. I can not think of a better way to start the day. We were able to walk all over Antigua, the location made that easy. The house was well equipped, the washing machine was a big plus. There also a variety of books that we enjoyed. I would rent this house again in the future. Our daughter-in-law arrived in the dark and when she woke up she found everything pleasing to the eye. As a first time visitor she was smiling like Buddha while sipping her Guatemalan coffee looking at Volcan de Agua.

Perfect Antigua Location
Perfect Antigua Location
We stayed at this lovely home for about two weeks in October 2011. We absolutely loved the home and Antigua. The house was cozy and had everything we needed. Because there were so many great restaurants within a few steps, we did not cook at home; but we loved it that the owner provided ground coffee available for us to enjoy each morning. The property was very clean and we grew very fond of the house keeper that came in five days a week. The owner met with us the first evening we arrived and filled us in on the information we needed to enjoy Antigua. There are so many fantastic restaurants in Antigua that is is hard to do recommendations; but we did love the Peruvian restaurant just a few doors from the rental home. The airport pickup arranged by the owner was on time and very safe. We love Antigua and will definitely return. We recommend this home as a great rental and in the price range we needed.

Definitely can recommend this house, definitely would go there again.

Owner response: Thankyou so much for sending this! I appreciate it Very best, Elizabeth
Several years ago my daughter & I rented Elizabeth's house for one week. It was wonder full . The decor is beautiful , my daughter was in awe when she saw the courtyard it was her first time in Antigua Guatemala and she is still dreaming to come back some times soon. My favorite is the bedroom upstairs with fire place and a door leading to the roof top balcony . Every night we had a fire as the evenings got cool and enjoyed a beverage as we watched the sun set. One day we got to meet the architect of the house. Very interesting to find out the history of this wonderful place. All in all I can't wait to come back again. sincerely Bruni

She is dedicated to preserving the historical center of Antigua and has worked with historical preservation government agencies and private foundations over the past 40 years in creating the gem that the city is today. She has owned her Tour Operator in Antigua since 1992 and currently conducts cultural walking tours of Antigua and safe travel throughout Guatemala. Why the Owner Chose Antigua:
My parents purchased this property in 1972 before Antigua experienced the urban expansion that we see today. The 17th century walls were restored and we built a lovely new home around them. The house, renovated over the years, is a spectacular blend of the new and the old and located in one of the nicest areas of town. It provides all the amenities that you will enjoy during your stay. Antigua is truly a remarkable town and many visitors prefer to stay in a lovely home rather than one of the hotels in town. While you are one step away from many of the fine restaurants, you may enjoy the privacy of your own home and also entertain if you prefer.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The location and cozy nature of the house with its up-to-date amenities will provide for a VERY comfortable stay while you are in Antigua. Located two blocks south of the Cathedral on the Central Park, the house is inside the cobblestoned grid of the historical center – a few steps away from all the fine monuments, museums, Spanish schools, shops, art galleries, and markets. Antigua also offers yoga classes, salsa classes, personal trainers at the gym, and local tours of all varieties. The owner lives in Antigua and provides all questions about the city and any maintenance questions you may have. Grocery stores are near-by including one that has organic food and gluten-free groceries.
