Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: We are both retired from careers in education. However, since then (going on 4 years now), we haven't really figured out how retirement works. First we bought and renovated a house near our grandchildren. Then we bought a 15 acre farm and planted 1000 trees, built an outbuilding, dug an acre pond, put in a well, and made other improvements like a roadway, gardens, fences and much more. Next we bought a duplex with family and renovated it as a rental & now we have 2 wonderful tenants. Finally, we bought this beautiful home in Saddlebrooke and began painting, furnishing, and landscaping it. We hope to make it our winter home in years to come. But for now, we are renting it to offset the cost of owning a vacation home. We set it up to be fully vacation ready.
Why the Owner Chose Saddlebrooke:
We love the outdoors, and especially in the summer. Vacationing in Saddlebrooke is like having summer anytime we want. The sun and warm weather draw us to Saddlebrooke during the cold winter months of the Midwest. We love to be outdoors hiking or just sitting quietly watching the beauty of the mountains in the desert. It is simply heaven - like summer all year round. Our house is on the last street, closest to the mountains. We have a beautiful, unobstructed view of the Santa Catalinas from our front patio. There is an arroyo directly across from us that is full of desert plants, cacti and native wildlife. It is a wonderful place to sit and just watch and listen for birds. It is also fabulous for star gazing. Since there are very few street or house lights, the night sky is unimaginably spectacular.

There are countless activities offered at Saddlebrooke. It is an active senior living community that lives up to its description. We especially love to walk, hike, work out at the fitness center, play pickle ball, and ballroom dance. We also are members of the Desert Museum and enjoy spending countless hours enjoying the flora and fauna.
