With its house, boathouse and small outbuildings located in a cove at the head of Hurricane Sound, this twelve-acre property is at the end of a peninsula which also stretches along the entire north shore of Leadbetter Narrows.

The house has spectacular views on both sides, southwards down hurricane sound and westerly towards the mainland. The entire peninsula, largely wooded, is yours to explore, including rough paths through the woods and along the shore. This is at the heart of cruising country, so all kinds of boats pass by during the summer. A well-maintained mooring is available in the cove. There is a pier and float (see photo) in front of the main house.

A permanent caretaker mows the lawns, takes away the trash and can answer any questions during your stay. This is a great place for pets, particularly dogs, for whom it is a paradise of romping room.

The house has 5 bedrooms (with double bed or two twin beds each) plus a small single bedroom with no closet. This is an older house in relatively simple and rustic style of the 1940's and 1950's. Maximum rental occupancy will be limited to 11 people (plus any infants)unless owner specifically approves a higher limit. Good water supply comes from wells on the property, but we do try to conserve water; there is a washer and drier for laundry, but no dishwasher. Fresh linens are provided each week.

A ferry from Rockland delivers you and your vehicle(s) to the town of Vinalhaven at the southern end of the island. The property is a twenty-minute drive (eight miles) from town.
