The unique Villa of Nah Uxibal is located on the white sands of beautiful Soliman Bay. Soliman is a large, pristine bay abundant with tropical fish and corals. Sea turtles, rays, needlefish, and barracuda are just a few that have been seen here, not to mention the wide array of colorful smaller fish that grace these waters. The water here is calm thanks to the protective reef that runs between the two points, providing an ideal environment for swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking, all of this is right outside your door.

For those who like to explore deeper waters, the nearby dive shops of Tulum and Akumal will help you to discover the second largest reef in the world that runs along this exquisite coastline. While you are here, be sure to visit the nearby Mayan Ruins of Tulum and Coba, and/or take a day trip to the ancient city of Chichzen Itza. Cenotes, (underwater caves) are plentiful in this area and each one is different and unique but all are clear and refreshing.

Nah Uxibal is Mayan for "House of good energy." The two bedrooms downstairs also have names KIN (Mayan for the sun), and AKNA (Mayan for the moon). as well as kitchenettes and can be rented separately for guests who need room for just 1 or 2 people.

All bedrooms have their own patio with chairs and a hammock for lounging. The bathrooms are full-size, and covered in colorful talavera tiles. A ceiling fan sits above the bed for extra cooling. In between the downstairs bedrooms is a large open lobby facing the sea with comfortable couches for socializing or just relaxing.

From the lobby and up the rounded staircase you will enter the large central living area where the kitchen, living area and dinning table are all under a beautiful grand palaypa roof. There is also two bedrooms on this floor. Each bedroom has a king bed and its own colorfully tiled bathroom. Both bedrooms have private decks with hammocks. Go up another level and you will find the pool table and TV area with 2 queen futons, a great place for kids. The unique design of the home is intimate yet spacious.

The kitchen is in the central area with granite countertops and custom cabinets constructed of mahogany. A center island and bar makes it easy to have more than one cook, while a large custom made mahogany table seats eight comfortably. A sitting area is also in this central area under a 35 foot high round palapa roof. This room is simply gorgeous with it's rounded white rock wall of windows and French doors facing the ocean.

Step through those doors onto a large terrace with plenty of room for dancing or just relaxing and taking in the sea breeze. The loft sits one flight above. On the northside is a billiards table for your enjoyment, and on the south side a TV area with two queen-size futons for viewing or extra sleeping space. All this opens to the central area below, giving the home a open and spacious feeling.

Nah Uxibal is a great place for large groups as well. With the two casitas (see ad #36961), the two studios, and the upstairs suite there is a total of six bedrooms and the loft. Up to 14 people can be accommodated while still having their own "private" places.

We are very lucky to have Javier and Victoria on site as caretakers. Not only are they wonderful at their jobs but are a warm and friendly couple happy to be there. They will do anything possible to help make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Your quarters will be cleaned daily (except Sunday) and linens changed every three days.

All drinking water and some food staples are provided. Victoria is a great cook as well and is willing to work out menus and prices with you if you would like an authentic Mayan/Mexican meal cooked for you during your stay.

Nah Uxibal is a special home built with a loving care that comes through to those that stay inside it's walls. Outside it's walls let the magic of the Yucatan relax and rejuvenate you. The sand under your feet, the sea breeze on your face, and the clear blue waters of the Caribbean sea will all be part of a vacation that you will never forget. Enjoy!

The Beautiful Villa of Nah Uxibal on Magnificent Soliman Bay
5/5

Guest: Matthew Lewis (Colorado)
Date of Stay: 05/20/04 Review Submitted: 05/20/04

Just got back from five nights at Nah Uxibal. We loved the location - just the right amount of isolation and privacy - only private houses on Solimon so minimal people around, and only 15 minutes drive to Akumal or Tulum for great restaurants. Solimon Bay is the ideal Caribbean bay – beautiful water protected behind a reef – it doesn’t get better. The accommodations were great – quiet, peaceful, relaxing. Our studio had windows on three sides – always a breeze blowing through. Refrigerator/freezer is plenty big enough and had ice cube trays. Plenty of drinking water. Sitting out by the water was our favorite thing to do. It’s great to have kayaks to use. We went out twice – to each of the buoys (one right behind the reef) where we tied up for a while for snorkeling and then just paddling around. Great snorkeling starts just 40 feet out at the edge of the sea grass. We went snorkeling at Yal Ku and Akumal, and toured Tulum, but always just wanted to get back to Nah Uxibal and chill out on Solimon Bay. It’s ideal and we will go back.
