Owner is great to deal with, great location. But unfortunately the lake gave our entire party, swimmers itch, after the third day there. It would have been nice to know of this potential prior to booking. So I would say this is not ideal for little kids, since they cant go in the shallow warm water, without the potential of getting the rash. So now we had three days left, but had no desire to swim in the lake. The cottage is in an ideal location, private. Just a few things of note on the inside, Bigger TV's on the inside would be nice, and carpet was dirty/dust, could use a machine wash. For the amount of money we paid for a week, we expected the inside to to be a little cleaner. But again the Deck is incredible, to bad about the water, and the owner is great to deal with. S.RangiOwner response: Thanks for the post. Sorry for the swimmers itch. It was identified as a potential and included in move-in instructions, but that doesn't help you now. This unseasonably warm summer might have something to do with it, but more likely prior feeding of the ducks. I will be sure to make it more clear to future residents. I will also reach out to cleaners and will have them make a special cleaning now that we are 2/3rds of way through the summer. Thanks again for the review. Jim

The owner (Jim) went out of his way to make our vaction seem like a dream. We arrived to find the property to be everything that is qouted on his vrbo site. We found the property clean and well taken care of. We had one small issue and Jim was very quick to responed to our needs. After my vacation I came home feeling relaxed and refreshed ready to start thinking of booking again with Jim.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thanks for the review and we DO look forward to having you back in the future!!! Your group left the cottage in very good order on departure and that is always appreciated. Glad that you are refreshed!!! Hope to see you next year!!!

Jim, We had the most lovely time in your Lake House - perfect getaway for my husband and I to relax, explore Michigan and slow down our pace in a very quiet and beautiful home and setting. We will most certainly book again with you as one of our more memorable escapes together. Your home was immaculately clean with delightful caretakers and well stocked with all the amenties to assist your guests. We loved grilling out on the deck and finding the peace that comes with waterfront living and beautiful breath taking sunrises. Thank you for the memories, truly cherished for a lifetime. GREAT Sushi place in Traverse City.......a must repeat for the calamari BEST in the world! In closing, thank you for all the special assistance with day trips, restaurants, activities very helpful to mazimize our time. Loved the lighthouses, the wine county the beautiful lakes, the quaint towns, antiquing, truly a prime location for a multitude of interests. We absolutely loved our week at Long Lake. It was a great location, not too far from the downtown, but far enough away to avoid the Cherry Festival crowds! We found wonderful eateries and of course, Moomers ice cream, great grocery stores and just anything we needed. The house was perfect for our needs. The view was fabulous, we got some unbelievable photos. No one believes they are not photoshopped! Would definitely come back!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: I grew up in Michigan and spent summers in NW Michigan. Unfortunately, in the early 80's, the Michigan economy necessitated that I move to Denver first, then to Texas. I still try to get 'home' as often as I can to see the magnificent beauty of NW Michigan.
Why the Owner Chose Traverse City:
Growing up in Michigan, our family used to vacation on Long Lake. I, like my brothers and parents, formed many fond memories on this beautiful lake. My hope in buying the cottage, was to provide the opportunity for my wife and children to form similar memories on Long Lake and NW Michigan.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The area of the lake that the cottage is on, is in a well protected cove and therefore typically very calm water. This calm water also is a plus as the local 'Loon' population very often is seen and heard out in front of the cottage. The cottage is well covered by trees so the cottage usually stays cool with breezes off of the lake.
