Sandy's Cottage is easily accessed from US 70 through downtown Ruidoso, New Mexico--yet retains it's quiet charm off a gravel access road that accommodates two full-time residences and this home. Easy accessibility in spring, summer, and fall by any vehicle: winter months might require 4-wheel drive depending on conditions.
(Wildlife)
Deer, raccoons, elk (sometimes), and bear daily attractions: Sandy's Cottage has two deer troughs--some female deers will eat out of your hand!

We loved this little cabin! Tucked away nicely amongst the trees. Very cozy and comfortable feel to it. And a beautiful view from the back Deck. Cabin was clean and had everything we needed. Very close to restaurants and shopping. The deer come right up to the property every day. We will look forward to coming back again! Thanks from West Texas!!Owner response: thanks Geoff! Glad you enjoyed your stay! Larry and Sandra White

The cabin was exactly as described in the picture above; cozy and inviting with a wrap-around balcony (at eye-level with the pine trees) that seats at least six in addition to a table seating four. We sat at the table to have our breakfast in the mornings and watched the hummingbirds fighting over the feeders......great fun! My husband and I went there hoping to find a place in the woods to unwind, relax and enjoy what Ruidoso had to offer and that's exactly what we found. Since we're older, we couldn't do hiking or anything but we did visit Ruidoso Downs, Inn of the Mountain Gods and several restaurants. We particularly enjoyed the Texas Club Restaurant for steak, Cafe Rio (for pizza), and Caliente Grill, Camino Nueva and Jorge's Restaurant for good New Mexican food. We found the owners to be completely responsive to any request we had and we can certainly recommend either of the properties they have.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The cottage was ok. A little bit dirty but comfortable. We did not expect it to be in a neighborhood of cabins. We thought it would be more secluded. The directions to it were confusing.Recommended for: Pet owners.
Owner response: Sandy's Cottage is in one of the more isolated regions of Ruidoso. It is accessed by a gravel road, with 4 or 5 cabins and houses nearby. While within 15 minutes of everything Ruidoso (3 casinos, downtown, Walmart, etc.), the beauty of Sandy's Cottage is it's isolation and wildlife. Directions are particular and exact--but the Cottage is "by itself," and initially hard to find. Directions, sent as separate attachments to renters, are exact. Other renters have had no problem finding it's locale.

We had a wonderful stay in Ruidoso. This was our second time up and we have now stayed in both of the cabins owned by the same couple. Both cabins are great, fully furnished with everything you could possibly need. This one has a very homelike feel and a wonderful wrap around porch with swing, etc. We had a deer visit us on the last night and eat the food we'd put out for it and the kids thought that was really cool. We enjoyed lots of hiking and saw more deer to include 4 bucks with good size racks and about 12 does. We forgot one ingredient in a meal we planned to prepare and were only 5 minutes from a full size grocery store, so were able to salvage the meal with little time spent out. We'd highly recommend this cabin for your next vacation rental, you won't be disappointed. The owners are great and treat you like family. Thanks for a great weekend. This little cabin was great for the both of us. Very quiet and just as described. It has great views off of the porch, and many places to sit outside to enjoy the mountain air. It was very windy when we were there so we were'nt able to use the fireplace or the grill, but the cabin is only 5 minutes to midtown so we were close to all of the restaurant. We can't wait to return. Thanks!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We fournd the house to be exactly as advertised, clean and comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and ready to use. There was plenty of firewood to keep the fireplace going, which was good as there was over a foot of snow that weekend. We recieved good communitations from the owner prior to, during and after our stay. My wife and I both agree we want to come back again in the summer.Did you find this review helpful?
