My husband and I have 3 young children and 2 businesses, and just wanted to get away from it all for a weekend. We enjoyed ourselves soooo much. The cabin is secluded and private. The lake is gorgeous and so very peaceful. The owner even leaves bread to feed the animals. If I had to make a suggestion it would be to cover the skylight or move the bed. The morning sun makes it impossible to sleep in. However the large sectional sofa was plenty big for naps and relaxing. The supplies most everything you will need and didn't even realize you would need. This is a charming, relaxing retreat owned by an amazingly nice couple. Definitely recommend!

Owner response: Thanks so much for the awesome review and suggestions. Hope y'all come back soon and often! Dawn

My wife and I stayed for two nights and plan to come back to stay longer. It was so nice to be able to feel the solitude and harmony with nature, something that is totally lacking in our high tech world. Being there brought back childhood memories of visiting my uncle's farm. Sitting on the back porch and looking at the water felt like heaven. To be honest, I'm so glad there was not a wireless router or else I'd feel compelled to check up on things at work with my laptop, something we were trying our best to avoid for a couple of days anyway! We could have sat there for hours had the weather been warmer. The chapel was beautiful. We definitely plan to come back in the Spring! I cannot think of any other place that my wife and I have stayed at where the solitude and peace was any better than this place. The owner did an incredible job making the place feel cozy, with farm fresh eggs, comfortable bed under a sky light window, bath robs next to the 2-person shower stall, and even bread to feed the fish in the back lake.

Dawn and Jake were warm, hospitable hosts. It truly felt as if I were far away from home when in truth it was only 45 minutes away. It was a great place for two BFFs to hang out and listen to music and bond. I'll be back with husband in tow for another stay. Great place to just get away without driving for hours.

We came to Youngsville to spend Christmas with our family. We stayed at the Cabin for four wonderful days. It was decorated for Christmas and this being our first Christmas away from our home, all the decorations made us feel like we were at home. It couldn't have been a better Christmas. Jake and Dawn and all the animals made us feel like family and we want to adopt you all. Thanks for making everything so special. It truly is Peace on Earth!

This was a wonderful substitute for our annual mountain trip. We didn't have the money or time to go for more than a weekend. This was close and we felt a million miles away from our day to day life. Will definitely go again.

Dawn and Jake, we can't say enough good about our stay! The only thing bad was having to leave and come back to earth. It is truly like heaven on earth. We are already thinking about our next tripThe special touches were great. From the treats and card, to our take home ornament and robes we got to wear. We will definitely share the pictures and experience with others. P.s. the Xmas decorations made it extra special too! Can't wait to eat our fresh eggs !

Owner response: Craig & Kim, It was wonderful having yall on the farm and we await your next visit... I'm so glad you loved your surprises... Please come back soon and often! Happy Thanksgiving! Pass the word about our little place - it's a blast and I love sharing with special couples like y'all! Dawn & Jake & All the Critters!

We had a great time at the cabin. Dawn greeted us (even at our late arrival time) with smiles and a wonderful welcome! She showed us the cabin, oriented us and then left us to enjoy three lovely nights! This place is quiet and very peaceful! We were in the area to visit our daughter and her husband. They came out Sunday afternoon and we all enjoyed some great "quality" time in the yard, walking around the grounds and "down by the pond"! I would highly recommend this cabin for anyone wanting to kick back and relax near Wake Forest. We had a great time!!

Owner response: Gary & Carol, Thanks so much for the kind words and I'm so glad it worked out great for you guys. Now you have a "home away from home" when you visit family nearby! Works perfect even for Ella Bean! Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving and keep in touch!

Echo of previous reviewers' posts. Pastoral setting with sheep and other animals, domestic and wild. Serenity abounds. Dawn and Jake are gracious and helpful hosts. Central location for Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill. The Chapel is rustic elegance. Lovely pond. Spacious porch with very comfortable sitting. Truly a little bit of Eden here. We're thankful for our week at their cabin.

This is by far one of the best vacation rentals we have stayed at. We travel frequently to the mountains and this rivals any mountain cabin there is. A private, secluded retreat to just unwind and enjoy nature and the company of your significant other. Coffee on the porch, watching the wildlife, a fire in the chiminea, long, relaxing walks, seeing all the farm animals, fishing, lazy hours spent reading or doing absolutely nothing. The cabin was all inclusive and Dawn is such a gracious hostess. We have already booked another weekend and look forward to many more visits.

Owner response: Brett & Angela, I can't thank y'all enough for the awesome review! I'm so glad the farm and cabin were a great fit for you guys and you will be back and "friends down the path" again in November for Brett's birthday weekend! Thanks for taking time to write down your thoughts to help others in their decision to visit the farm! Until your return... Dawn & Jake

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 2001

About the owner: Jake and I have been married for 29 years September, 15th of 2013. We love to travel to all inclusive resorts (most of the time couples) and we have turned this cabin into a very special place for couples or friends to reconnect and relax. With our travels we know the details we expect and try to share that with others on the farm with the privacy and enjoyment that is hard to find! Jake and I actually are always looking for a quick getaway for our anniversary and we found after visiting many places that is was right here on our farm so we should share with others! We have now added a wedding chapel for elopements and vow renewals and I got ordained to conduct the ceremony... it can be a farm wedding/moon - stress free, but so special!

                  Why the Owner Chose Raleigh:
This farm has been in Dawn's family for years so deep roots here... She actually grew up right here on the farm and hasn't left yet - must be a special place!

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Birthday, Anniversary, Reconnect with significant other in a time gone by type atmosphere...Intimate Wedding with 20 or less people, Elopement, VOW RENEWAL in a tiny and very special 'masterpiece' chapel. Relax and enjoy some solitude with the privacy of the farm and nature all around from tiny donkey named Lulu, Llama named Maggie Lou, chickens, sheep and it a wonderful setting!
