Birch Bay cottage description
It's a level walk and literally seconds to the beach. You'll be right in the central part of resort Birch Bay. Here you'll find several miles of open beach you can walk along, build sand castles, clam or use the bike path. You'll have plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from along the way, either direction from the cottage.
The cottage has an open living, dining area that's relaxing with lots of sunshine. The full kitchen with marble countertops has easy access to the public rooms. The inviting family room has 2nd cable TV/DVD/VCR. A seasonal sunroom with French doors out to the BBQ offers a place to put bikes, golf gear or those sandy beach treasures! Out the French doors you'll find a private patio dappled in sunlight, with gentle sea breezes. The BBQ is extra special, a 6 burner Platinum Weber with a built in smoke burner. You'll have plenty of privacy in the level, double lot sized, fenced yard for relaxing or family games.
Come nightfall, you'll be soothed in the large, vaulted master bedroom with its own 3/4 bath with heated tiled floor & tiled, double head shower. Charming main bath has its original, deep claw foot tub & shower, complete with our own special soaps. Two sweet, smaller bedrooms don't skimp on comfort, king beds or twins are available in these rooms. This cottage works well for single families with children as well as extended families and groups of friends.
With your stay, you'll receive 1/2 dozen free, fresh baked cinnamon rolls that are huge by a prize-winning local baker, a real hit with our guests. But we'd like to ask for just a bit of grace if we just can't get the rolls say on a holiday.
For more room, be sure to check out Lora's Cottage, listing no. #51871 across the narrow lane. When both cottages are rented, you'll find room for 17 plus there's a bunkhouse at Lora's. See ad on this site and don't miss the guest - made video detailing the huge cinnamon rolls!
Need even more room? There's a motor home hook up next to the cottage, ask about price.
Not familiar with Birch Bay? We're at the corner of mainland Washington, no ferries to take, no island hopping, but still very quiet and away from it all.

Great multi family get away!!!
Great multi family get away!!!
We loved out weekend at Seashell Cottage! It was great that it had a Living room and a Family room, both had flat screen TV's and DVD players. The kids were able to watch their movie in the family room and that left the living room for the grown ups. The kitchen was outfitted with lots of great cooking equipment. The owner Kelvin was great to work with. And the cinnamon rolls were great.

Patti and Kelvin work hard at making Seashell Cottage the perfect place to vacation. I recently was there with 4 of my brothers and sisters having a family reunion. The cottage is far enough off the main road for quiet and privacy. The back yard is set up with a picnic table, a great grill which was put to great use, very colorful Adirondack chairs for comfort. Sadly, the fig tree was not in season for our eating enjoyment! The cottage inside is very well equipped to make your stay relaxed and stress free. It is within walking distance for newspapers and general needed supplies. The corner store has a very good selection of wine and great homemade salads. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to chose from that you can walk to. The cottage is a very short walk to the beach that has an eagle that visits every day watching all the visitors to it. He loves posing for pictures. Having stayed at Seashell gave us all a place and a week of wonderful memories. Thank you, Patti and Kelvin

Nice Roomy House with kind hospitable owners.
Nice Roomy House with kind hospitable owners.
Our group enjoyed everything about our weekend at the Seashell Cottage. The house is one block off the main street which makes it quieter, but it is still a very short walk to the beach. The owners are nice, accomodating and helpful. It has my recommendation, but please don't reserve it on our planned weekend.

Comfortable Place! Spacious yard w/bbq & picnic table. Lots of outdoor chairs provided. Two refridgerators. Kitchen has great utensil/appliance supply. Two flat-screens. Nice fireplace insert, makes it cozy. Short stroll to beach (you can see bay from house) No kids here, but it seems like a great place to take them. Videos, games - and again the big fenced yard. A hose in back helps clean up from beach before entering thru sunroom in back. The description is pretty accurate. Property well maintained, everything works well. Kitchen good for one, maybe 2 cooks at time. We cooked all meals while there. Cinnamon rolls provided to guests by owners are large & delicious. We've been there twice and will return. Pets NOT allowed, please note.

About the owner: Shortly after our youngest graduated high school, we purchased Seashell Cottage and began renovating it. One cold night, we ventured out from our home just north of Seattle to Birch Bay to start work. That was one of the coldest nights we ever spent, sleeping on a mattress we hauled in our pick up truck! We found the cottage had no insulation and the heat was inadequate for that cold October night! We thought we'd be six weeks renovating, couldln't claim youth and ignorance; ever since that night, we learned the cottage would tell us what it needed next. I could not and should not go into all the details, suffice is to say, we've owned a few properties and know how to manage them.
Why the Owner Chose Birch Bay:
We had a life long dream of recreation property and while vacationing in Birch Bay we decided we loved the ambience and charm of this small village's laid back atmosphere. We loved being so near the shallow, warm water of Birch Bay and close to the San Juan Islands, Semiahmoo and Blaine. Landside, we're surounded by countryside that offers a huge array of outdoor activities and artisan qualiy products. City wise, we're near Bellingham, Vancouver and Victoria. We never run out of new delights and discoveries!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The home appealed to us because it is right in the middle of the bay within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants, either direction. Our location provides very easy beach access that is open for miles with no obstructions to get in the way. We particularly enjoy this proximaty to waterside and village ammenities as transportation for our personal needs can sometimes be a challenge. The cottage has the Old Birch Bay charm and we knew it needed rennovation but that we could maintain its character. We love the old Birch Bay ambience that this cottage has, it is very relaxing and just feels like a beach house.
