We went up for my birthday weekend and everything was well worth it. The pool / home / side house and the entire area was perfect - linen / kitchen / grocery store /fireplace/open spaces/ laundry .... we had no complaints at all. Wonderful relaxing weekend and we'll be back next year. PETS: We brought our small dog who loved it and KIDS: our three year old god daughter who also had a perfect time. Sonoma food places and wineries are close by (keep dog on leash in Sonoma square, eat at El Dorado Kitchen and go to Imagery winery !!). If you need a little escape with 6-8 people - you really can't find a better place close to SF - took us only 45 minutes - door to door - but others that left in rush hour still only took 75 minutes.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I don't think that I have ever walked into a house and actually thought the house was MORE beautiful than the pictures. There is a spirit about this place that makes it very hard to leave. And mind you, when you leave, you are in the most beautiful part of the country--wine tasting. But somehow, you just want to experience everything this house has to offer. It's homey and comfortable and, well, FUN. We cooked out and played in the pool and walked the grounds. It was just amazing. We knew we loved Glen Ellen, though the drive is a bit much if you have any car sickness issues, but the neighborhood is incredible. Visit the chocolate shop and Olive and Vine for dinner at the bar. It's so special and we will definitely return!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing.

This house is well suited for extended families seeking a place to get together. It is a very comfortable house with all the amenities needed. It was clean and well maintained. The kitchen was big enough that several people could be preparing meals without getting in each other's way. The family room is a great place to gather and to enjoy the views. The mountain looked different every morning. We even had a fox visit one morning. It felt completely private. We couldn't even see the neighbors although we could sometimes hear their sheep bawling when we were swimming in the pool in the late afternoons. We found that we were leaving the house late and coming back early because it accomodated us so well. Our only complaint would be that as avid readers, we would have liked more lamps in the family room but it was not a big issue because there was so much natural light from the windows after dawn. The Glen Ellen Market was a great place to get sandwiches to take on outings. Delicious!! The Wolf House ruins in the Jack London State Park were really fascinating and a little sad. I learned a lot about Jack London and his family. I'm really glad we did that. We also biked to some of the local vineyards- Homewood Winery had an amazing port. We ate at the Glen Ellen Inn which had excellent food and good service. We took food out at the Yeti Restaurant which we weren't as excited about. I would definitely recommend this house to other renters.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The house is gorgeous, beautifully decorated and well maintained. The separate cottage is fully equipped, the view from the pool is perfect. This house had everything we needed included a really easy and friendly transaction. Early check in, late check out, keys left on site for you to enter at your will, makes for a perfectly relaxing vacation. You also couldn't get much closer to downtown Glen Ellen which deserves at least an hour or two of your time away from the pool.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We rented this house for my 30th birthday and it was beyond perfect. It even pleased my hard to impress grandmother! Some of us didn't leave the house for the entire week unless it was to run to the market. There are plenty of vineyards and wine tasting rooms within 20 minutes, and Glen Ellen has some tasty restaurants. But, you don't even need to go out! Once you are here, you will be inspired to cook and eat out on the patio every night. It is just like living in Sunset magazine. Truly! I live in the bay area and have been to lots of weekend homes- this one is my most favorite so far. The cottage is a total bonus. For those of us living in the city, it's bigger than many of our own living spaces.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We had a large group stay here over Memorial Day Weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday. This is an excellent space for a bigger group. The kitchen is a cook's dream (we had a couple chef's in the group) and we cooked in every night, and BBQ'd on the grill every afternoon. It was warm enough to use the pool, and we lounged on the grass in the yard under the umbrellas provided, looking out at the beautiful view. It was nice to have the cottage as well...the house has great communal space, but it's also easy to go into the cottage or other bedrooms for privacy. We literally didn't leave the property our whole stay, there was no need! I'd highly recommend this property, and would definitely rent again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing.

We came to Wine Country in order to relax. There is a reason people from all over the world come to stay in Sonoma Country and this house is the true meaning of relaxation. Not only was the home gorgeous, its unique characteristics with staying true to the mid-century modern architecture was unbelievably perfect. The pool and huge patio were a dream, the beds were cozy and warm, the kitchen had everything we could want and the attached studio was such a nice mini-retreat area for my parents. We especially loved the master bathroom shower. My husband is now dead set on constructing one like it in our home. The menus and winery discounts left with the guest book were a nice touch- we were able to view all the local offerings and choose for everyone based on that. My friends also rode into town and got what they called a "to-die for" massage from the recommendation at the house. We just loved our time in Glen Ellen and are gathering our friends hoping to rent in the winter for a holiday getaway!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

This home was perfect for the seven of us that traveled to visit with my sister who lives in Santa Rosa. We were able to prepare fantastic meals and gather around the huge table! Everything in the house was very nice but yet very comfortable, we all agreed that they were the most comfortable beds ever. This house gave our family an oppurtunity to visit but was so convient to enjoy some wine tastings and some fun little day trips as well. The kids really enjoyed the yard and the pool, even in October!! My mother really enjoyed staying in the guest house, which is really nice. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful home with my family.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This Glen Ellen retreat is perfectly represented in photos and description. We will rent again next year. The house is comfortable in size and the guest house is an added gem. The house is well stocked with everything from towels to kitchen items, including a fabulous espresso machine. We held a dinner party for 12 and the house accomodated us perfectly. The location is excellent and we enjoyed cooking in and several restaurants in Glen Ellen. Glen Ellen also has an excellent market, so stocking up on groceries was easy. The pool is wonderful and the yard is enourmous (and fenced)so excellent for families with children. We had a very minor issue with water heater and the house manager had a plumber out within an hour to adjust. Our entire experience was positive and we would highly recommend this property. One of our best VRBO rentals yet!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The longer you stay, the more you come to love this property. The modern design and high class amenities foster an environment of relaxation. The private layout makes it so that one person can be listening to music while another takes a nap without disturbing each other. One living room caters to music or a movie night while another living room caters to relaxing by a fire. The market in town has the feel of a mom-and-pop Whole Foods. This is the place to stay if you enjoy an escape into nature with endless leisure activities surrounding you (hikes, vineyards, national parks, restaurants, etc).Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We (five adults and a dog) just spent 3 days here. Our intent was to use the house as a point of departure for Sonoma wine adventures but it was so nice we had a hard time getting out the door. The house is spacious, made more so by all the big windows and great views. Filled with art, tasteful furniture, and many interesting design elements. We especially enjoyed the open kitchen and great espresso machine. Similar raves for the guest house. The property is private, well-maintained, and nicely landscaped. There are many distinct decks and patios to move between as the day evolves. We had great weather and had a wonderful time hanging by the pool, barbecuing on the gas grill, and eating outdoors. The location is very convenient for the Sonoma experience. We had short memorable trips to four nearby wineries, enjoyed grand cuisine in Glen Ellen, and found everything we needed (including the New York Times) at the nearby market (walking distance). We will definitely return. This place is great, most deserving of a strong recommendation!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you, Sam for your wonderful review of this fabulous home! I'm glad everything worked out for you and that you enjoyed your stay, your travels and the wonderful town of Glen Ellen. We hope you'll come visit again and enjoy all that this place has to offer. Thank you once again.

No time to travel to the South of France ? This secluded gem is more than a substitute. We have escaped here often and find it both relaxing and inspiring. The opportunity to stay at a place where the owners have an instinctual sense of design to allow nature to drive architecture is a rare find. Generous kitchens in both the main house and studio let us explore our cooking interests and local farmers' markets were great sources for supplies. When biking, golf, and swimming did not allow for cooking, we enjoyed walking to the "village" and four star restaurant meals that were even more delicious as we walked back by moonlight. We try to visit at least annually as this is a memory making residence.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Lovely home! This house and property are stunning. Great open floor plan, chefs kitchen, roaring fire place and just a yummy backyard. The living room has floor to ceiling glass windows and the view is acres and acres of rolling grass and gorgeous oaks. We had friends staying in the quest house and they just loved it. Great space, fireplace, deck, modern kitchen and also great views. This whole property is totally secluded, yet also very much like an open space reserve! The backyard just seems to just float out over the valley. We layed around in the backyard, swam in the pool and watched the hawks fly overhead, a perfect afternoon. We loved the market at the bottom of the hill, they have everything you could want and more! Love this place and will certainly return.!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your recommendation! Besides the weather not cooperating a bit, I'm so glad everything turned out wonderful for you. We enjoyed having you as our guests and hope you will return sometime soon!
