We had a fabulous weekend stay at Cary and Sam's cabin. The layout of the home was very conducive to entertaining a large group. There were plenty of comfortable beds, and the cabin had a very cozy feel. The owners recently renovated the downstairs which includes a bedroom with a private bathroom. We especially enjoyed the large deck and proximity to Payette Lake!!! Will definitely rent again.

The cabin was easy to find, yet tucked in a woody area, which felt secluded. The entire entrance wall to the cabin is all glass and the ceiling is vaulted, so you walk into this wide open space bringing in with you the great out doors.Upstairs, in the main bedroom, that brilliance continues and your awestruck. The kids can climb a ladder from this room up to a loft sleeping area Swiss Family Robinson style. The furnishings are sturdy and comfortable perfect for a real relaxing family time and very clean. Each sleeping space ( and there's a lot) have quaint cabin decor. The kitchen is large and stocked with all the tools you need, with the exception of a dishwasher. There is a grocery store near by that we utilized daily, so if you forget to bring something your covered. Play time is amazing! Day or night the view of the lake and mountains are breathtaking and unforgettable! Beings that this was our second visit to this cabin our plan was to rent a boat for a couple of days from the Mile High Marina. We ended up buying a used boat and we played everyday on that incredible lake. The lake temperature was perfect and refreshing. After a day of play we would either BBQ out on the spacious deck or we ran into town. Wi Fi was available at Moxie Java and some other locations. Our last night we ate at The Mill amazing ambiance, but kind of pricey. Our favorite was the pizza place. Not far up the road that circles the lake is a paved trail that you can walk or bike on or you can bike into town. By far the greatest amenity is Payette Lake. The beauty is unfair to the rest of the world. At night the water is still. The lights from nearby lodges and cabins reflect on the water giving the enchantment of the place no rest. Morning is glorious and cannot be missed. Sometimes there is a mist hovering over the waters. There is an uncanny quietness that is inescapable. The fishermen are out and the peace that settles in ones soul, as you soak this in, is indescribable.

As an airline pilot my family and I have the opportunity to travel all over the place, and by far McCall is our favorite vacation spot. This quaint, clean, and well-kept cabin is perfect for your family's next getaway. The cabin is in a prime location in McCall, barely set back from the beach just a few hundred yards away from Shore Lodge on the southwest corner of Payette Lake. While not situated directly on the lake, it has a partial lake view, with access to a beautiful sandy beach, patio deck with umbrellas, and dock just a 30-second walk down a dirt lane. Although the cabin is old, it is very clean and well kept, with new carpet, bedding, and enough accommodations for a large family. The main level features a large patio deck perfect for dining in the evenings, with plenty of shade during the afternoon and evening. The main floor of the cabin has a large open room with couches, kitchen, dining table, bar, stereo, TV, DVD player, and bathroom. No internet access, but who needs it when you're surrounded by such beauty? The bedrooms are located above and below the main level. Perfect for putting kids to bed while the adults stay up late! My personal recommendation would be to sleep in the recently finished bedroom in the basement, where it is nice and cool. The cabin also sports a washer and dryer! But, you'll be in your swimsuit the whole time, so you shouldn't have to worry! ;) The cabin is within a short walking distance of Shore Lodge (great for Sunday brunch), and Lardo's Bar & Grill (a McCall classic). Just a bit more of a walk and you can be in "downtown" McCall, and checking out all the great restaurants, shops, beaches, or whatever else you can find. Grab a mile-high Huckleberry shake at "My Father's Place". They're the best! McCall has tons do in the summer: boating, swimming, fishing, hiking, camping, bike riding. The possibilities are limitless, and this cabin is a great place to set up "camp" while you and your family argue over what fun things you'll do next! Check it out! You'll want to come back again and again. We know we'll be back for sure!

Owner response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We love the cabin, too! We just added a flat screen TV right before the Olympics so we played all day & then watched the action at night. Take care & we hope you return soon!

This cabin was PERFECT for our group of two families (four adults and seven children ranging in age from 3-1/2 to 20). Plenty of sleeping space for all 11 of us in areas other than the main floor, so some could stay up late or get up early without bothering others wanting to sleep. The kitchen was fully stocked and we were invited to use whatever was there as long as we replaced it, which was very helpful since we didn't know exactly what to bring. The cabin was stocked with towels, life jackets, and beach chairs for use on the cabin's sandy area and beach deck by the lake. The lake was close enough to the cabin, but not too close to worry with toddlers. There was a TV with DVD/VHS, but no cable or satellite, which was just right for limiting kid's TV time. There were games, books, and never once did we hear "I'm bored." Downtown McCall was just a few minutes away. There was plenty to do in the area for everyone: fishing, hiking, kayaking, shopping, bars, antiquing, eating out, etc. The listing and photos accurately represent the cabin and location. The owners were responsive and great to work with. The best part was the value for the cost. We will definitely be back.

Owner response: Thanks so much for your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed the cabin. We were up for the whole week over July 4 & had a wonderful time, too! We put in new carpet upstairs & painted the main-floor bathroom and are really happy with how it all turned out. Again, thanks so much for the feedback. We are glad you had such a great time!

We're so grateful we found this cabin! This cozy A-frame offered all we needed for our mid-week trip to McCall. The kitchen was fully stocked so we could bring in our own food, and there were towels, games, linens and beach chairs all ready for use. The cabin was clean and bright, with all the right charms. They also have a lovely big round table that is perfect for meals and games. We brought up kayaks to use on the lake, and were happy that it was only a 1 minute walk to from the cabin to the dock. With 7 adults and 1 toddler, we found this space was perfect for our group. We shopped around a lot online for cabins in McCall, and this one was more affordable, had cheaper cleaning fees, and offered the location and ambiance we were looking for. You won't be disappointed!!

Rustic with modern conveniences, this cabin has a great atmosphere and is in a great location. The lake is just a stones throw away. Myself and two friends, one from Boise and the other from Denver, used this a base of operations for a fall fly fishing trip. We stayed four days and didn't want to leave. The cabin is obviously a family vacation home; lived in and cozy, nothing pretentious or fragile. You feel comfortable immediately. The owners were great to interact with and made us feel like old family friends! The living spaces are open and would be great for a group or family that doesn't require a lot of closed door privacy. We loved the huge porch, wood burning stove and huge round table. There is a cable to connect your iPod to the home stereo. The kitchen is servicable and well equipped. Washer and dryer down stairs if needed. This would be a great cabin for a winter or summer stay also. I'll certainly be back with my family or friends.

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 1972

About the owner: The Hattabaugh family fell in love with McCall in the 60's when Grandpa Dan Collett was caretaker for JR Simplot's lakefront property. We purchased the cabin in 1972 and have been returning for family vacations ever since. Because many of us live out of state, we decided to make the cabin available to others when we are not visiting.

                  Why the Owner Chose McCall:
We love swimming & boating on Payette Lake, so the beach & dock access is perfect. It's great being just around the corner from Shore Lodge, across the lake from the marina & just minutes from 'downtown' McCall. We enjoy water activities, hiking, mountain biking, morel and huckleberry picking, golf, tennis & snow skiing--all right near the cabin. Part of our family resides in Boise, so McCall is very convenient for us. It's wonderful to escape Boise's summer heat, winter inversions & long lift lines at other ski hills. Fall is colorful & peaceful. Winter is a white wonderland with fluffy powder snow. Spring stays winter for awhile, then bursts with new life. And summer is absolute paradise. The cabin is our refuge in all 4 seasons & a gathering place for our whole family in late July. We know you will enjoy it, too!

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The large deck is perfect for gatherings of family & friends. An abundance of sleeping spaces accommodate larger families. And the wood burning stove & oil heater keep the cabin toasty in the winter. Winter Carnival in mid-February brings elaborate ice sculptures & a flurry of entertainment to McCall. Art fairs, concerts, the classic wood boat show, live theater, gallery strolls & festivals are abundant. There's a year-round ice rink, quaint gift shops & boutiques and lots of restaurants with great food & beautiful views 'downtown.' Ice Cream Alley is also a favorite stop. Five gorgeous golf courses are near the cabin. Pick-up beach volleyball games at the public park by the marina are a favorite for teens. And of course we love swimming, boating & relaxing at our beach & dock.
