The Nest was exactly what we expected - comfortable, cozy, sunny and very close to town. I have a penchant for rooms where every nook is used effectively and creatively, and this fit the bill. The shower had two glass blocks for light (love those!), and while the ceiling is sloped as seen in the photos, my 6' tall husband fit in fine. If you need a lot of space in your shower though, keep in mind that it is small. A plus is the toilet and sink are directly across and separate from the shower. The provided flashlight key rings are super handy for returning up the stairs at night. I'm pretty sure there is a light to leave on, but we forgot. The bed is super comfortable (firm without being hard). There are some great books about the area and one of my favorite things to flip through was a 1968 issue of Home & Garden. The ads are hilarious! Woodstock is a fantastic town to visit. If you are a runner, jog from The Nest to Comeau Park to run in the woods next to the water. If you like breakfast, I recommend Sunfrost Farms. If you want a dinner so delicious you'll remember it a year later, walk to Garden Cafe on the Green.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We had a perfect 4-day babymoon at the Nest. The place is small, cosy, welcoming and very clean, with everything you need packed neatly. Judy picked us up at the bus stop and drove us there (although it's a very short walk) and showed us around. She gave us great advice about where to eat and what to do on our time there. We had no car but there was enough to do for four days (and we wanted a very relaxed time). There was snow on Christmas morning and when we got out, we saw someone (maybe the owner who lives nextdoor?) had shovelled a path for us in the snow. We loved it and we are thinking of coming and book the entire house (Nook+Nest) when our parents come visit in the summer.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My daughter and I stayed at The Nest, and adored it's rustic charm and simplicity. The pool was an added bonus and soooo refreshing. The location is perfect and in excellent walking distance to the center of town. We plan on returning to The Nest for an annual summer getaway, thanks Judy for your professionalism and concern for your customers!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I would definitely recommend The Nest! We took the bus from NYC. The location is perfect if you don't have a car, we walked to restaurants and shops downtown and nearby outdoor trails. Everything was clean and well-maintained. It was great having a kitchen to able to cook in. The pool was a great amenity to have! Judy was so nice and so accommodating and helpful! She gave us great recommendations. We got to meet the owner briefly, who was also very nice and hospitable.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

what a serendipity finding the nest ! .....beautifully furnished......clean, comfortable, well appointed bed and super comfy sofa....peaceful neighborhood......the perfect escape to relax body and mind...even though it was raining the owner cheerfully opened and heated the pool for us which we enjoyed immensely .....excellent communication with Judy, the property manager.....a short walk into town and back ( all the better to help digest the wonderful food found in the local restaurants ) should you choose to cook or bbq, everything you need is there......highly recommend and looking forward to a return visit......Did you find this review helpful? My girlfriend and I drove up to see a performance at Bard College and decided to make a weekend of it. Our time at the Nest was actually wound up being the highlight of the trip. We relaxed in the pool, grilled steaks on the charcoal grill and basically completely unwound. Judy was instrumental in helping us make the most of our time there in Woodstock. We took her recommendations on places to dine out and were so happy we did. She also gave us a run-down of places to see and things to do while we were in town which made navigating the unfamiliar town pretty painless. If we were to visit the area again, the Nest would be our first choice.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

My husband and I booked a weekend stay at The Nest to celebrate our anniversary. We arrived to find Judy, the property manager, thoughtfully arranging a vase of flowers to help enhance our stay! This lovely gesture was indicative of the wonderfully relaxing and pleasant stay we would have at The Nest. Judy was very helpful and kind and the rental process was quick and easy. The Nest was spotless - and although its a cozy space it truly had everything you could need (and is certainly larger than a hotel room). The bed was comfortable, the linens and towels very nice, and the kitchen was fully equipped. The cable TV, DVD player and wifi are just an added bonus. One of the highlights of our stay was the lovely saline pool - which we alone had access to during the daytime hours (between 12 and 5).The patio is equipped with lounge chairs etc - and you can enjoy a sun-free lunch in the cabana/gazebo - which also is equipped with a ceiling fan for hot days. The location is great - its just a short walk to restaurants, shops etc, but you feel very far from civilization, very quiet and restful. Also - although we drove, its just across the way from the bus stop so one could easily survive over the weekend without a car. All in all, a totally great stay - highly recommended for a trip away from the city and we'll definitely be back again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a short break out of the city and this was absolutely perfect. The studio was charming (and spotless), Judy was so helpful and extremely accomodating and the owner, when we bumped into him, was very friendly. we felt very welcome and at the same time we were given our privacy. The village and the people who live there are fascinating and have many stories to tell. We loved our little trip to Woodstock and would highly recommend staying at the nest. Thanks for a wonderful 3 days!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

We loved staying at the nest, a perfect spot for two! It's in a great location, just a short walk to town. The room itself is very clean and functional and felt really homey. It ended up raining a lot of the time we were there but we didn't mind because we were so happy and cozy in the nest! I really loved meeting Judy, besides being super nice and interesting she was really helpful and took the time to answer all of our questions. We'll definitely be back, thanks Judy!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

My partner and I stayed at The Nest for three nights and it was one of the most relaxing, cozy, comfortable stays we've had. We had to force ourselves to leave the house and explore the surrounding area because we were so cozy nesting there. There were many nice restaurants around and we hiked and visited the Tibetan Monastery as well. Judy was incredibly friendly and accommodating and we found the place extremely clean all around with a nice bottle of wine waiting for us upon arrival. We highly recommend staying at The Nest and look forward to visiting again in the future!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your lovely message. It was a pleasure to meet you as well! I'm so glad that you enjoyed your time in Woodstock and would like to return! Please know that your "cozy nest" is always here for you, and we'd be thrilled to welcome you back anytime. You might consider a visit in the summer, when the heated (chlorine-free) pool is open, and you can open the skylights to fresh breezes and early morning birdsongs! There's also a grill and screened gazebo surrounded by gardens for outdoor dining. Please don't ever hesitate to call if I can help in any way. In the meantime, I wish you the best and look forward to welcoming you back to your "cozy nest" whenever you're ready...
