Ahhhh.... Serenity!!!! This remote original log cabin is delightfully situated in a mountainous valley. A TRUE MOUNTAIN ESCAPE for you and your dear ones.

Come stay awhile in Cabin by the Creek. Located 2.6 miles up Bittercreek Road. This cabin is nestled among other privately owned cabins away from the hustle and bustle of Red River with views indescribable!

With 2 bedrooms, a loft, and one bathroom, the cabin sits on the side of the mountain and has a large beautiful deck that overlooks the creek that runs below. Walk down to the creek and relax on the chairs as you enjoy the sounds in the mountains and the beautiful view. Lay in the hammock as you watch the aspens sway in the breeze in the bluest of skies or eat outside on the picnic bench enjoying the fresh mountain air.

Inside the cabin, decorated with French Country decor, you'll find a really cozy living area with a wood burning fireplace and gas fireplace, a comfy kitchen with more than the basic cookware. Still on the first level you'll find 2 bedrooms, both with full size beds and 1 bath with a 1890's claw foot tub. Upstairs in the adorable loft is a sleeper sofa. And on the large deck there is a gas grill for your use, along with chairs to sit back in so you can rest, read a book, drink your favorite beverage or enjoy the view. The cabin is also a cozy and romantic getaway for a couple to enjoy each other in a peaceful and beautiful setting.

At night time it's great to have a fire in the fire pit by the creek, and roast hot dogs or marshmallows while looking at the many stars. We have a game closet with board games, horseshoes to play outside, movies for the DVD/VCR, toys for young children, and books for all to read.

Don't forget to make time to enjoy Red River! (Although once you escape the real world, it's hard to go back!) Red River is full of joy and laughter, events and entertainment summer and winter. There are many events along with great skiing, tubing and snow boarding in the winter. Be sure to stop by the Visitor Center to find detailed information about what's going on! Or visit the Community House for a list of free activities for you and your dear ones. Or simply walk the mile-long Main St to absorb the sweet mountainous air! Maybe skip over a block and fly fish in the crisp and refreshing Red River.

Whatever your pleasure.... Cabin by the Creek in Red River is an adventure not to miss!

I can't tell you how much I enjoy going to Cabin by the Creek. You feel like you are at home when you walk in the door. My son and I enjoy listening to the creek, feeding the birds and chipmunks, going for walks and playing horse shoes. We have been in the spring, fall and winter. You cant beet them all. It is always hard to pick which season we want to see as it is fun to see the trees blossom, leaves fall and going to down the mountain on a sled. We have seen deer, lots of turkeys, rabbits and of course lots of tracks when we are up there. My favorite is sitting on the front porch closing my eyes and listening to the wind blow the trees and wind chimes back and forth. If you are looking for a relaxing place, this would definitely be it. Many Thanks to the owners for making this place relaxing, peaceful and family friendly!

We stayed in this cabin in October 2012. When we arrived, the cabin had not been cleaned! We had to call the office to ask them to come out and clean it while we waited. The only thing they did was change the sheets and change the bathroom towels. We had to clean the cabin ourselves. Thank goodness we brought cleaning supplies. There were crumbs on the table and the floor was dirty. We complained to the mgmt, but they didn't resolve this issue for us-just said they were "very sorry." The shower in the tub had very little water pressure and it was difficult to adjust the water temperature. There were so many kickbacks that there was not any place to put our belongings. We did enjoy feeding the birds with the birdseed provided by the owners. The view was beautiful.

Owner response: Upon receiving this feedback, we contacted the management company that oversees the rental of our cabin. They have changed cleaning crews recently and have assured us that cleaning will not continue to be an issue. We are on a well system. The water pressure is lower than what most of us have at our homes. This is only noticeable when taking a shower. The hot water faucet has to be turned on for 10-15 seconds to allow hot water to get from the hot water heater to the faucet. Feeding the birds is something we enjoy year around. We have Stellar Jays that come all year. Other birds come for just one or two seasons. We love to identify the birds and look for new ones that we have not seen before. The bedrooms are small. However, we have a closet with shelves in one of the bedrooms for hanging and storing clothes. The other bedroom has a dresser, pegs on the wall, night stands with storage and a freestanding clothes horse for clothes.

The cabin was an absolute delight! The property is even more beautiful than the pictures listed on the website. We celebrated our anniversary there and were impressed by it tranquility and breathtaking beauty. The cabin was very quaint, beautifully decorated and provided all the comforts of home. The fire pit located next to the river was an awesome place to enjoy a campfire while listening to the rushing water. The hammock and bird journal were really a nice touch. It was very apparent that the owners put a great deal of thought into creating ambiance inside the cabin and the way it was laid out gave it a very warm and cozy feeling. The property is located slightly out of town but yet close enough to enjoy Red River and all it has to offer. Looking forward to spending more time there!

Owner response: It thrills us greatly when others are able to enjoy are cabin as much or more than we enjoy it. We have worked hard to make if feel more like you are entering a home rather than a stark rental. We have provided a variety of features to enjoy in addition to the natural beauty that surrounds the cabin. We have added many special touches over the years and anticipate adding even more in the years to come.

My family has stayed at this cabin more than once and we love every minute of it. The kids love the loft and the freedom to explore the creek within seeing distance from the porch. We have tracked and seen many animals, come across teepees in the woods, hiked the mountainside, and roasted marshmallows in the "Lost Boys" fire pit by the creek. Summer is our favorite, but a crackling fire is always welcoming after a day of sledding in the snow. We pack our own food as the kitchen boasts an ample supply of cooking gear and eating utensils. Highly reccomended for anyone needing R&R, cool weather and seclusion in the mountains, knowing the town is only minutes away.

Owner response: Kids just love our loft. We keep toys and children's books up there especially for kids to enjoy. They feel like they are in their own special hideaway above the rest of the cabin. Town is less than 3 miles away, just a 10-15 minute ride. We tend to fix all our meals at the cabin, but there are a large variety of restaurants in town.

My family and I have stayed in this cabin several times and find it delightful! It has afforded us a true getaway where we have rested in this warm, cozy, comfortable cabin nestled in the beauty of the Red River area. It is close enough to town to be convenient, but far enough too feel secluded. The front porch is perfect for bird watching or enjoying the creek and mountain that the cabin sits near. We love it!

Owner response: Since the deck faces a mountain in the national forest and also overlooks Bitter Creek, there is a feeling of being in the midst of nature. We love to watch the birds, chipmonks, squirrels and rabbits. We have also seen grouse, turkey and deer stroll by at various times.

We have stayed in this cabin alone as a couple, and have shared it with our married children and grandchildren. Hard to say which season is best as we have enjoyed summer and winter activities. You really are "away from it all" but you still have as many of the comforts of home as you want. The view is beautiful, and atmosphere so welcoming and restful. A true spirit of hospitality rests on the place - highly recommend!

Owner response: Before we bought our cabin, we had only been to Red River in the summer time. Now we have come to know the special features of all the seasons. We love the leaf change in the fall especially when the aspen leaves turn golden. We have seen various amounts of snow in the winter from inches to almost waist deep. There is something special about the quiteness that settles in when everything is covered in a blanket of snow and having a cozy fire in the fireplace.

Pictures do not do this place justice! It is cozy and warm with a gorgeous view. We enjoyed feeding the birds, taking hikes, and playing by the creek. It was absolutely gorgeous when we went for Thanksgiving one year. We sat by the window and watched the snow fall. We have stayed and this cabin twice, and we look forward to returning again.

                      Year Purchased: 2005

About: We have 4 children and 8 grandchildren and it is our joy to spend time with our family here...only not all at once! It is a special hideaway for all of us and we love to see it shared by others so that they can enjoy the peace and joy of it also. It's our little bit of Heaven on earth.

                      Why Red River:
For years Red River was our family vacation spot. We rented a cabin at Bitter Creek Guest Ranch for our family. Each year we would look for a cabin to buy and then we found Cabin by the Creek and knew it was the one. We love that it is an original log cabin and not a new replica. It has so much character to it, with the beauty of the outdoors surrounding it. We love the location as it is on a creek, looks at the National Forest mountain side without anything to block the view. The tall aspens are beautiful, and especially in the fall when the leaves turn golden. It is so peaceful and yet fun for the whole family. And with all the family fun in the city of Red River, it's still the best place on earth! And the weather is always a real plus when it is 100 degrees elsewhere. All year round, this is our place to go.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We love feeding the birds, as you will be able to tell with all the bird feeders. We also have hummingbird feeders on each window as there are so many humminbirds in the area. Other things we enjoy are sitting on the porch and reading a book or sipping our favoirte beverage, napping on the hammock between the aspens, having a fire in the fire pit and roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. Also watching the grandchildren walking in the creek with their rubber boots on and making small rafts for their army men out of twigs, and running freely while in plain view. Playing horseshoes outside (these provided). Playing board games or watching a movie at night. Going for long walks to see the ducks on the nearby lakes and exploring the area. In town we love to go up the slopes on the ski lift and then walk the hiking trails to an old mining camp. We also enjoy tubing down the bunny slope, riding bikes, horseback riding, go-carting, shopping, eating an ice cream cone at the ice cream shop, watching the 'shoot-out' in front of Frye's old town, fishing (there is a free children's lake), 4-wheeling, or just touring around the area and the Enchanted Forest. There is so much to do and more and it's all family fun! If you look at the calendar on the Chamber of Commerce for Red River you will see all the attractions they have during the year such as the Wine and Cheese festival, Mardi Gras, Octoberfest, antique car ralleys, etc. And of course the skiing is great, along with winter tubing and snow boarding.
