We recently stayed at the Campbell house and had a great stay! The house is very nice inside and looks recently renovated. The location is great, right on Vilano Beach and very close to downtown St. Augustine. There were so many amenities at the house, beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, fishing equipment, and a fully stocked house with a pool table and foosball table. The fact that our 2 dogs were welcomed in such a nice house was a huge plus! They even laid out information for dog friendly attractions and emergency pet services. Just know that the beach is not a white sand beach, it is all ground up seashells which I could not walk on barefoot, I wish I had known that. And there is a bit of a walk to the beach through the sand dunes and sea oats. There is a Publix almost across the street which is very convenient and also a few restaurants very close by. Beaches Bar & Grill was a personal favorite. The house sits on a lot with another house with permanent tenants who are very friendly, but they have a lot of people coming and going on the weekends and many cars. They were all very nice but just know you will be sharing space with a lot of visitors. Wasn't a problem for us, though. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were impressed with the house, especially for the rate, it was a great deal. The house was very clean, I would say it even looks better in person that in photos. Alan was great to work with and I would recommend this house to anyone. Nearby attractions that we enjoyed were Segs by the Sea segway tour, Alligator Farm, and St. Augustine Beach. There is no internet, so don't bring your laptop. Altogether a great stay!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had the most wonderful time at The Campbell House ever.We were a group of 7 for most of the stay but we did have 10 for a couple of days.We had 5 adults,1 11yr old & 4 16-22yr olds. Everyone was able to have their own space. We loved the "fish room" downstairs where we could all hang out on the swings, play games & watch the ocean. There is several areas to the house each one having its own personality. The kitchen is very well equipped & the table easily seats 8 but we did manage 10 without too much of a squeeze! The living room is comfy & you can lie on the couch with the patio open & watch & listen to the ocean. The front bedroom is also wonderful to lie in bed & watch & listen to the ocean. Both bedrooms upstairs were very comfortable & there was plenty of bedding for everyone.Downstairs there's a great game room & also a wonderful double shower & small bathroom area. The house has its little quirks which I wont reveal as its almost like a treasure hunt finding them,Alan the owner was a delight to deal with, very friendly, accommodating & knowledgeable. The secret bath to the beach is adorable, the beach right in front of the house has the most wonderful shells you will ever see in your life,if you prefer more sand you can walk a couple of hundred yards up the beach & you will find the most perfect white powdery Florida sand. The location is great, the BP ststion was great for late night snacks & the publix shopping plaza has everything within walking distance. We had the most wonderful walk at sunset to the pier at Villano beach & ate at Beaches, food & service was excellent & of course an amazing view.We spent our last night at Caps on the water a wonderful seafood restaurant, you have to go once at least during your visit,AMAZING! We drove to Orlando for the day & had a great time at Disney(approx 2hrs drive) we also went to Anastasia state park went kayaking & saw dolphins. We spent wonderful days downtown St Augustine exploring the fort, restaurants, shops, museums etc.Alan had prepared this wonderful list of suggested things to do at the Campbell House & we enjoyed checking them all off! Do not hesitate to book this wonderful beach house(the photos don't do it justice) we will cherish our memories for ever, Thank-you Alan, family & friends for your hospitality & sharing your lovely home with us!!We will be back for sure!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, girls getaway.

love, Love, LOVE this House! The Campbell House has a split personality; man-cave / fish-camp downstairs and charming, cozy 'Coastal Living' cottage upstairs. The pictures are a true representation of the property. Brought my 78 yr old Mom & 11 yr old daughter up for a visit with cousins in St Augustine. We were planning to spend our free time at the beach, out on the sun deck and in the porch swings downstairs. Unfortunately, the weather turned arctic & windy, compelling us to stay indoors. Happily, the east-facing sunrise porch is completely enclosed with windows all around blocking the wind. With the sun shining in, it was very warm and comfortable with a fabulous view of the Atlantic; perfect for enjoying coffee & the Sunday paper. We cooked dinner for the cousins one night in the well-equipped kitchen. The Kitchen table seated 6 comfortably, we could have squeezed in 2 more. Although not a consideration when planning our stay, we were extremely pleased with how well the heat and hot water functioned in the cold weather. We found the whole place to be immaculately clean. The beds and furniture were comfortable and we were reluctant to leave! The location of the Campbell house is perfectly convenient for Historic sight-seeing in St Augustine. it's about a 10 min drive to the city's parking garage and from there, most sights are walking distance. Also, for stocking up, Publix is at the foot of the bridge; a short walk from the house. There is a BP jiffy-mart directly across the street from the house. At first I was slightly bothered by the proximity but it did not adversely impact us in any way. Indeed, I was actually glad to have it there every morning when I wanted to grab a newspaper. The Host, Alan, was extremely helpful as was the property manager next-door. I would (and have) recommended the Campbell House to friends. Currently, I am trying to figure out how soon I can come back and stay longer!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

The Campbell House was the perfect place for our families to meet and have Christmas together. We had everything we needed to cook family dinners, play games, enjoy the beach and lots of room for everyone! The house is spacious and the outdoor deck was one of our favorite gathering spots... sunrise on Christmas morning was beautiful. I would recommend this house for anyone with families or a large group of people. Nothing fancy, just a home away from home.. .just what we were looking for! The owner was very helpful, followed up on our reservations, and we knew if we needed him, he would be there. Great place and we will be back in 2013!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, pet owners, girls getaway.

We really enjoyed our stay in Vilano Beach. It is our family tradition to head down to the beach for the Florida/Georgia game. This year, since we have a new baby, we made it more of a family trip. We LOVED the house. It was very spacious. The upstairs was great. The house is older but has a lot of character. We spent a lot of time downstairs in the porch area just rocking on the swings. We also received some winds from Hurricane Sandy. We felt safe the entire time and knew that the house was very sturdy. Alan was awesome and called to check on us numerous times. This house was great for our small family but would also be perfect for guys looking for a beach weekend - it would be a fun party house with the upstairs deck and the downstairs pool table and porch. We hope to return next year.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We have stayed for the past 10 years at various condos in St. Augustine. This one was one of the best! We have family in the area so the extra space was great. It was great to have our puppies with us too. Nothing but good things to say and would stay again! We stayed the week of May 13th, 2012.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.

Rustic floridan beach home that provided so much fun and relaxtion! Friendly neighbors were also a plus! We enjoyed our 4 night stay with lots of family time. They have satelite tv, but honestly this has been the first time where I didnt sit in front of the tv at night in a long time...instead we enjoyed our family's conversations in the screen room/porch swinging on their swings! Allan (owner) has been very nice and accomodating with our reservations. I recommend this place to anyone with children! Family (quality) time was well needed with our trip...thank you Campbell House!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family and I throughly loved vacationing here. Furnishings were comfortable and family oriented, and the sound of the ocean was fantastic. Owner was very helpful and the rental price was great for our budget. The neighbors were friendly and helpful and we relaxed and had a fantastic time. St. Augustine is minutes away and there are so many attractions for so many different ages. Description was very accurate and we would love to come back and visit again. Thank You for a Wonderful Time. Sincerely, SheilaRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I, our 3 adult kids and our son's girlfriend spent 6 days, with assorted siblings, nieces, grandnieces that live locally visiting off and on through the week. There was plenty of room in the house for rainy periods, so that we weren't on top of each other. The tropical storm deposited tons of shells on the beach for hunting, and made boogie boarding a blast. The kitchen was big and well-equipped enough to fix a feast. Bathrooms were very functional. The house is a little quirky, but with so much space and an outstanding air conditioner, we were very happy with our stay. Pros: very close to the fort and downtown, the owner was very accommodating and quick to respond, clean and spacious, great view, relaxed environment, not upscale/luxurious (we like homey at the beach). Cons: they are in process of updating the house, and while there were plenty of lights and electrical outlets, not all switches/outlets controlled what one might expect, and one of the sliding doors is a bit difficult. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has a number of people and who likes some space. Not advisable for those who have trouble with stairs. Baby gate next to steps for families with small kids. Photos don't do it justice. We are definitely anticipating staying again--two members of our party fantasized about owning the place!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We loved the Campbell House and would rent it again and again. This place is spacious, clean and charming. Great place for a large family or entertaining. Celebrated a 60th birthday, friends loved the place and the ambience of an older beach home convenient to shopping, Publix, bait stores, good restaurants and historic St Augustine. Enjoyed watching the afternoon thunderstorms from the upstairs balconey and the enclosed ocean facing porch. Thanks to the Kayak Man for the Ceviche, it was yummy, and thanks to Alan Hines ( owner ) for accommodating us.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
